The ATF is Trying To Use After Market Trigger To Expand The Definition of A Machine Gun
Contrary to popular belief, the legal definition of a machine gun has nothing to do with how fast the gun can shoot but how many bullets are fired with one pull of the trigger.
The legal definition of a machine gun is Any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.
The definition of a machine gun is based on function and not the rate of fire because the shooter determines the rate of fire in a semi-auto gun and not the gun.
This means the ATF would be trying to regulate my trigger finger, and because they can't do that, they'd come up with arbitrary numbers that make no sense.
But that's not stopping the ATF from trying to change the definition of A machine Gun.
The ATF recently sent out a cease and desist letter to the Company Rare breed triggers to stop selling and making their after-market triggers.
The ATF is now considering their trigger a machine gun, even though their triggers mechanical function is semi-auto.
What you're about to watch is a conversation between me and the President of Rare-breed Firearms about how they're fighting back against the ATF's tactics and what you can do to help.

My biggest frustration during the bump stock talks were pro 2A'ers saying they didnt care because bump stocks were a stupid novelty. Caring wasnt important. What was important was the precedent it would set if they were allowed to be banned. If the ATF is allowed to deem one accessory as too dangerous, there isnt anything stopping them from applying that to other accessories. The short sightedness of some of the community was infuriating.

Though I didn't like the bumpstock, as I find them a novelty vs a Binary trigger, I still wrote in opposition to the ban. What doesn't work for me, works for somebody else. My dad can be considered a "fudd" but even he was against the bumpstock ban. In his words, "this is a slippery slope". Then again he was hoping Franklyn Armory would make a binary for his Mini-14, after seeing the one in my AR pistol in action. Hell, he eve agreed that the binary keeps you on target. Point is, my dad and I and my "fudd" father in law were completely opposed to banning bumpstock. All three of us sent letters to the AFT. We wrote our representatives about it. We were opposed to the entire thing. Sure, I've toyed with a bumpstock, and again, it wasn't for me. I couldn't get it to do squat more than one three round bump, and even then I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn if the flash hider was pressed against the wall. That's a training thing. I've fired full auto, it's faster than bump firing, and faster than a binary or even a forced reset trigger. Again not a fan of a bumpstock, but not against them and fought hard for them.

Official documents implicate RARE BREED TRIGGERS in grand larceny scheme (Austin, Texas - 11/01/2023) There are multiple lawsuits wherein Rare Breed Triggers has sued competitors over alleged patent infringement issues. One of these cases, a case in the 453rd USDC at Hays County, Texas was presided over by Judge Terri J. Shibbe. Post default judgement proceedings in this case have exposed Rare Breed Triggers in a grand larceny scheme. Post “default” judgment documents filed pro se in the 453rd USDC by the pioneering inventor of Flex Fire, a.k.a. FRT type trigger technology, and core US patent owner Thomas Allen Graves strongly refutes the fundamental validity of Rare Breed Triggers’ alleged rights to produce the Flex Fire - FRT 15 type trigger, and Rare Breed Triggers’ rights to sue others over their alleged patent rights claims. Graves is a Texas Star artist, inventor, engineer, and a well-known firearm designer. Working in Buda, Texas during 2013-2015 Graves produced the G1 Combat carbine. G1 Combat carbine is the first integrated Flex Fire technology type firearm. This is a new species of firearm that uses multiple patented mechanisms and processes of an automatic power reset trigger (Flex Fire Technology), and a 2 stroke, 3 cycle gas damping recoil system (Captive Pulse Damper) among other new technologies. Graves began filing Flex Fire Technology related patents on 9/11/2014. In 2021 Rare Breed Triggers accused Graves of infringement of a 2019 patent claim that Rare Breed Triggers' acquired from Steven Cooper Rounds and Jeffery Cooper Rounds. Steven Cooper Rounds and Jeffery Cooper Rounds combined were party to a previous agreement with Graves. The Rounds made this agreement with Graves for the Rounds to fund Flex Fire Technology patent applications and examinations for Graves’ technology in exchange for the Rounds’ use of exclusive license for AR type firearm applications resultant from those related patents. This agreement was initiated by a term sheet agreement and ultimately a signed licensing agreement in 2018. The general terms of this agreement were to pay Graves 50% after manufacturing cost. Published government documents, and court documents from as recent as October 2023 are convincing evidence that Graves did not infringe Rare Breed Triggers’ acquired patent claim. Rare Breed Trigger’s acquired patent claim is contested by Graves and there are multiple indications that Rare Breed Triggers’ acquired patent claim subject was actually invented by Graves but secretly patented by Jeff Cooper Rounds while the Rounds were working with Graves. It was learned that Rounds’ patent attorney that had worked with Graves and could not file what became the Jeffery Cooper Rounds patent unless it was to be filed for Graves. Independent from the contestable nature of Rare Breed Triggers’ acquired patent, evidence shows that Graves did not use or infringe the Rare Breed Triggers’ acquired patent claim. Rare Breed Triggers’ acquired patent infringement claim against Graves was initiated by naming Graves in a suit against Big Daddy Unlimited. Documents reveal that in fact “all” Flex Fire - FRT type triggers are dependent to, subservient to, and derivative of the Graves core US patent technology Flex Fire Technology portfolio claim or claims that were priority at USPTO as early as 2014. Rare Breed Triggers, although with their lack of standing to bring suit on anyone whosoever, pose to have won multiple cases against Graves. As it stands all cases concerning Graves’ technology or naming Graves averted any trial of merits. As it turns out Rare Breed Triggers lacked standing and could not prevail on merit. Default judgements wherein Rare Breed Triggers sued Big Daddy Unlimited, Big Daddy Unlimited having fully indemnified Graves, and then never appearing in court to answer Rare Breed Triggers’ subsequent, and multiple perjurious complaints that were filed naming Graves in addition to Big Daddy Unlimited, and a Big Daddy Unlimited shell company in one case, and Graves in the other. Prima facie evidence indicates that the specific default judgements naming Graves amount to over $4M. This resulted in one case whereby a Judge erroneously ordered Graves to produce financial information to Rare Breed Triggers based upon their default judgments against Big Daddy Unlimited wherein Rare Breed Triggers maliciously named Graves. In another instance it resulted that Rare Breed Triggers’ demand for Graves to pay for compulsory action legal fees was denied by a Judge. So, the court documents indicate that Big Daddy Unlimited explicitly indemnified Graves within a contract, and that default was taken only by Rare Breed Triggers because Big Daddy Unlimited breached the Graves contract indemnification clause, failing to take any legal action. Big Daddy Unlimited never showed up for court. It can be deduced that Rare Breed Triggers effectively conspired with Big Daddy Unlimited ensuring “no show” default judgements in multiple USDC cases naming Graves. Even if Rare Breed Triggers allegations could have been justified these default judgments are not actually “wins” against Graves as Rare Breed Triggers misrepresents. Graves was fully indemnified by Big Daddy Unlimited beginning in October 2021. This indemnification clause specifically indemnifies Graves from Rare Breed Triggers actions. Extensive court document analysis combined with patent document analysis further confirm that Rare Breed Triggers’ commercialization of Flex Fire - FRT15 type trigger design and other trigger designs had in fact plainly infringed a core patent claim owned by Graves, and that all Flex Fire -FRT type triggers that were produced under these known conditions by anyone’s permission excepting Graves, were in fact without permission, and compensation. Other information found in these documents further indicates that Rare Breed Triggers falsely represented themselves in multiple frauds upon the federal court as the owners or the licensed party of a “Graves - Rounds patent licensing agreement” that remained after 3.5 years unconsummated, was void, a nullity, as if it never happened. Rare Breed Triggers could not resolve this in equity, as what is void does not exist, thus cannot be resolved. Conclusively, by evident conspiracy, and grand larceny Rare Breed Triggers, and others have continuously, and willfully infringed the Graves’ patent claim, as evidenced in known source documents. All indications are that Rare Breed Triggers is the epicenter of a collective felony level conversion of Graves’ assets that are valued at over $100M or up to approximately $500M. Evidence indicates that Rare Breed Triggers and others did not have the requisite standing to sue Graves or to commercialize Flex Fire - FRT 15 type triggers or trigger technology. Evidence indicates that Rare Breed Triggers and others have continuously or willfully engaged in direct infringement of Graves’ core patent claim by commercializing Flex Fire - FRT 15 type triggers or trigger technology. Evidence indicates that Rare Breed Triggers and others’ long-term conspiracy to commit grand larceny including their commercialization of Graves’ assets, has resulted in subversion, and to damage Graves of more than $100M.

Important history lesson: George Washington led the US Army against American citizens who took issue with new tax laws imposed upon them by the Federal government when he was president, after they felt their voices were no longer being heard and thus the same cycle of taxation without representation they had just fought a war against England for was being perpetrated against them by the new government in America. Lesson: The Federal government, like any tyrannical institution, immediately turned to the same tactics used by its enemies and employed them *against its own people* once it had power. This government is hardly different from the one ruled by kings and queens we so readily abandoned in the interest of personal liberties. Just a thought...

Another interview I saw, described that the way it's designed, it is almost impossible to break and accidentally end up with a multi-fire weapon (last year I fired an unmodified .308 that would double and triple tap without any effort whatsoever, as an example). The reasoning was that the locking bar is a solid piece of metal that you would literally have to break with your finger, and because it's forcing a reset every time (hence FRT), it would be impossible to accidentally fire faster than you intended. I'd like to see the design schematic to get a better understanding of that, but the way it was described makes sense.

I wish Rare Breed much success! As a full time gunsmith and 3-gun competitor, I was prosecuted criminally for 13 years and sued twice for more than 6 additional years (no attorney or help from pro-gun organizations) in Washington State for working on development of a competitive trigger system for the AR platform. I had two other items I designed that were being sold by Brownells. Started back in 1999. ATF was consulted and offered the case at that time. They refused, but it didn't stop the State and as typical, agencies claim "loopholes" and start working on redefinition of terms. Following the rules doesn't seem to matter if what you are doing is politically incorrect. Inventive spirit of Americans, especially in the firearms arena, is being suppressed and it started a long time ago.

From a technical / mechanical perspective, any auto loading gun can easily be considered a machine gun. The important technical part was never the trigger, but the next round immediately being there, ready to fire. Trigger-crank, binary, forced reset, real full auto, bumpfire with nothing but your own fingers. The legal perspective is another one however. In the letter of the law it says "shall not be infringed", which means exactly that. Especially guns intended for military / militia use are to be owned by the people to protect against enemies, foreign and domestic.

Single Function vs Single Pull: ATFs play on words that often gets over looked! When the ATF defines what a machine gun is they initially use the statutory definition verbatim, that includes the phrase "by a single function of the trigger", but when they want to encompass bump stocks, shoe strings, and their newest pursuit this trigger, they switch that phrase with "by a single PULL of the trigger" to muddy up the definition to their advantage. While many would say that the term function, and pull are synonyms, but when it comes to defining the mechanical definition of a machine gun the term "pull" is a function of the shooter not the trigger. I would argue that a better word to use in that phrase would be "by a single movement of the trigger" because not all firearms are discharged by "pulling". If the ATF is successful in shutting down a trigger that clearly has two trigger movements for every single round fired, what is stopping them from going after triggers that fire on the pull and the release. ATF knows they can't win a criminal case. That is why no one to date has been arrested and charged with a crime!
