I meant to include the fact that Michael Fleisher tried to sell the idea of Ironjaw to DC Editor Joe Orlando, before bringing the character to Atlas. This was, of course, when barbarians were “the thing” in comics.
Feel the same way about Sewkowsky vs Marcos. Issue three looks especially good. It seems Fleisher specialized in a more sadistic edge in comics…as a kid I was a little wary when I saw his name!
Iron Jaw was originally the villain in Lev Gleason's Boy Illustrated Stories golden age series. Atlas ripped off the character concept and then changed him to a barbarian.
Hi Mark! As I watch this series I’m continued to be fascinated because I know little about A/S. You’ve mentioned a number of times that you are enjoying rereading some of these stories. I’m wondering as you make your way through these, are you finding that the publisher and these books deserve a more serious re-examination or do you see them more as a novelty? There are some heavy hitters working on these books… Also, I know you like Pablo Marcos, my new short comics documentary profiles Skywald Comics, the horror comics magazine publisher, for which he illustrated many stories on. I’ve been wanting to send you the unreleased, but I’m not sure how to email a link to screen it to you…
I definitely have more respect for the Atlas product than before. As far as your doc, I’d love to comment on it. Best I can suggest is uploading to RU-vid, making it private and give me a passcode.
@@fourcolorcommentary2909Yes, but I don’t know how to send you a link or code privately, and not here so everyone else would have access. There’s no way to privately message on RU-vid anymore.
