Jumping spider: "Look at my eyes. Aren't I the cutest you've seen? (jumps) WEEEEE!" Tarantula: "I know I'm big, hairy & my guts can explode any minute. But I can pose!" Funnel-web Spider: "I'LL KILL YOU... I'LL KILL YOU... I'LL KILL YOU!"
@@michelletackett9489 Not really, if you study how much toxicity the Phoneutrias have in their PHTX3 Venom they are a lot more fierce than the Atrax Robustus.
@@tonychen3368 Sydney funnel web bite more than 1 time which makes it more dangerous. They inject more venom than Brazilian wandering spider. The latter mostly gives a dry bite or very small dose of venom.
@@owen7185 sorry to swear but they look fucking savage lol I read that the venom is acidic so you get a double whammy of pain from the huge fangs, then the venom on top.
@@iangarner8857 yes that's right, combined with the force of the strike, you're going to feel that for a while. The Sydney males are vulnerable when leaving their homes to look for a female. So they have to be equipped with a super fast acting venom
I have studied antivenom for over 20 years, this spider always terrified me. I have spoken to many Australians, they all confidently assured me it was not easy to find one, let alone get bitten and have serious issues. That said, still be careful... one friend uses a broom
sbarnett37tiger Barnes Just because it is an series spider the toxin has nothing on the PHTX3 that will take victims out in less than 3 hours without medical attention.
@@tonychen3368 Prior to the introduction of antivenom in 1981, Atrax envenomations have caused death in under 15 minutes. Phoneutria cannot claim the same. A bite from Atrax is almost never dry and the spider will generally strike repeatedly. The same cannot be be said of Phoneutria. Those referring to the sketchy claims by Guinness World Records that gave the title of the Most Venomous Arachnid to Phoneutria, even Guinness (still a sketchy unreliable publication) have updated the record and given it to Atrax Robustus as they're rightly measuring on toxicity to primates (i.e. humans), not mice as per the LD50. GWR still have it wrong however, as there is an even more venomous member of the Funnel Web family in the Hadronyche genus. There is a stronger case for Atrax to be considered the most medically significant species of arachnid than any other: www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/most-venomous-spider archive.today/20121231065530/www.abc.net.au/7.30/stories/s25168.htm
Not really. Funnel-webs are only really dangerous when you don't know that they're there and you put your hand or an un-shoed foot into the wrong place.
1:20 - the tripwires aren't that unique to spiders, the more common trapdoor spider does that too, the females laying them out for meters and living for up to 40 years in her burrow. There's a great Australian ABC article on an arachnologist who did this in WA Australia - amazing story.
Hey beautiful spider, what’s your name ? - Angry ! And what do you want to do ? - Be angrier ! Do you think you can bite me ? - Look at your foot you idiot !! …background 911 dialed…
Back in the mid 90's I had a few pet funnel webs (Atrax robustus), the male did not live for long but the female was fun. I would stir her up and wait for the venom to drip and then throw in the food item. Insects would die fast but the garden skink took a while to die because of their slow metabolism and I never fed her another, but I loved getting rid of cockroaches.
They can crawl fast and he was lucky to get out of the way before it crawled onto his arm or boot because it was already angry! Even the toughest prison inmate would freeze stiff at the sight of this animal!
Flying ...Western...flying early..... for xmas,,,stopping in Kansas City...give flowers...then headed east!....Wish me happy landing....but.... smiling~~~
Yikes. Let's just say, that I would put all my clothes and shoes etc in plastic containers that locks, so no spider would be able to enter and I'd use spider repellent spray as well. I'm from Europe and we only have the false window spiders to worry about, but in Oz you really have to be careful
I live not far from Perth, Western Australia towards the bush. We were cleaning out our shed & found a funnel web spider dying from something. They say they arnt in W.A they most definitely are!
Mayne a mouse spider. They can be just as big and lots grt them mixed up? Im new to perth and havent seen the sort of webs here that arr in those regions he pointed out
Well, it did have housing, which appears to be ruined. I do not know if it was provided by the federal government or if this spider is low income but clearly it's home was damaged. Anger Issues often involve counseling and the necessary insurance needed to pay for such. This is not always attainable in a culture of economic inequality. If someone destroyed your living quarters I am quite sure you would be ticked off too.
I’m sorry, but if that creature reached your boot, and started crawling up your leg, so would have laughed my fucking ass off. After all… YOU CHOSE to bring one of the most dangerous creatures into your living hole, and fuck with it. Anything that goes. Wrong is Definitely YOUR OWN damn fault. (Maniacal Hyena-like Laughter)
hummm a little scary i live in quebec canada we only have small wolf spiders and small orb weeve spiders i heard that the male is way more venomous from the female ?
This spider is more dangerous to humans and all the other primates than they are to other mammals. While the Brazilian Wandering spider is dangerous to everything. I guess it's pretty much of a crap shoot between the funnel web and the wandering spider.
The main difference is that the Brazilian Wandering spider sometimes give dry bites. The Sydney Funnel Web Spider never gives dry bites, and their fangs are much more powerful, they can bite through your toenail!
