Initially one of the first universal swords for cavalry service, the Austrian M1845 had a lot of potential but alas not without setbacks that nullified it.
This is a project I thought was lost but thankfully a few fixes were made and I can now publish it. Enjoy!

I have a model 1850 Austrian cavalry sword dated 1851 possibly 1857. It’s been passed down the male line to me, but where it came from is a mystery. I have no Austro-Hungarian antecedents. I look forward to your upcoming film on the 1850 pattern.

Do you know whether any of these were used in the American Civil War? I have a Model 1845, marked Jurmann 1849, bought from a U. S. junk store in the 1960s.

Hello, in my video of the M1850 I mentioned the Austrian might have sold some surplus swords to the Confederates so yes, some 1845s were probably in the batch of imported weapons.

Thank you for the reply. Your video provided far more information than anything else I have been able to find about these rather rare swords. @@pinswords

Does your British 1821 have regimental markings?

Alas no.

Most I believe are not marked. I was lucky enough to find a marked one years ago to the 4 DG

@@HypocriticYT Ah that's cool! I once had one marked to the 2DG but the blade was considerably shortened.

@@pinswords I had a 1853p 2DG sword once, but it's the 2D swords that are most sought after.

I received a sword, I think, of the saber type, with the blade, on one side "Alex Coppel" Solingen, on the other side "AG" and on the handle protection "F.U.B", how would I know the origin? I could send you photos if necessary . . .

Hi, just by the EUB marked on the guard you can identify it as a Brazilian sword (Estados Unidos do Brasil), probably one of the cavalry trooper models from 1890-1900s. That said, no need to duplicate comments on other pages please.
