You missed a few details: 1-Genji presumably did get paid 2-Aiko’s mother didn’t like the clothes because they were not traditional fire nation clothing and the heels made Aiko look taller than the fake avatar. 3-Genji didn’t try to sneak a peek at the cargo, those doofuses dropped the loot and he instinctively turned around to see what made the noise.
In the beginning of Avatar Kyoshi the people praised Avatar Yangshen as a if she were a god. Avatar Kuruk lived his 33 years between them but Yangshen was the one they remembered. Your comment reminded me of this fact.
@@JaharNarishma Kuruk pretty much neglected being an Avatar no? He said he liked to let things "go with the flow", but that meant he was indecisive and it cost him his lover to the face taking spirit.
I hope every story they do about an Earth bending avatar there's a mix up with who the avatar really is, for some reason that fits the earth kingdom seeing how vast and decentralized it is
I am very curious about why the old way failed. It is a very good way if the Avatar doesn't fly around on a bison, like Kyoshi's family did. After several failed attempts they gave up using that method. In "Rise of Kyoshi" it was implied that Kyoshi was abandoned because the criminal family thought that the Avatar searching crew was after them to take down criminals and the family didn't want Kyoshi to be part of that confrontation. We got a reason for why it failed, a good reason. What is the reason now, I wonder.
@@JaharNarishmaI think the earth kingdom spent a few years searching for the avatar but they couldn’t find them so they invented one to keep peace for reasons not yet explained. They know that dude wasn’t the real avatar
@@gameadventures1 Completely disagree. One of the most heartfelt aspects of the story was its mythic nature. It will only be one generation now where the technology will supersede nearly all aspects of bending which made the show interesting. It's their biggest mistake.
I hope that the plan for Luan is to make him a Quasi-Avatar. Lava = Fire Sand = Air Mud = Water Metal/Crystals/Earth by Mud, I meant like how Toph used it against Korra in The Swamp where she turns solid ground into mud and then changes it back into solid, same principle as lavabenders with lava
I'm feeling that he's going to be given seamless technology strapped to his arms that will let him "fake bend" the other three elements He's going to reluctantly agree, with the officials telling him that the implants are there to give the people what they want while he's still "being trained" The current avatar IS from the Earth Kingdom, they MUST be the picture-perfect Avatar that can effortlessly give public speeches, always look perfect and dashing in EVERY photo, and have that personality and voice that will get everyone SWOONING over them, the PERFECT avatar It's going to eat him up slowly, "Any day now, these elements are taking a long time to get to me" "Why was avatar Korra already a master at three elements when she was a toddler? Why not me as well?" "Am I REALLY the Avatar...?" Maybe at one point, He's passing through some murmuring aunties, "There's a sand bender scum who suddenly could firebend out of nowhere! Is it even possible to be a dual bender?!" "Duall bend?! PLEASE! It's either you can bend one, not bend AT ALL, or be the avatar" And something in him sinks in, "I... I'm tnot the real avatar... am I?" "Could this person be... the REAL one?"
@@fumetsu-950 they disallowed mixing water and earth. Sand bending is pure earth. Unless they changed the rules, sand bending should be allowed. They have had an additional 30 years since the time of Mako, Bolin and Korra as the Fire Ferrets. Rules could have changed. But it is water, not sand, in that panel.
@@fumetsu-950 I looked up the Avatar wiki. The rules for pro-bending are elaborate. In summary: water only in liquid state, earth cannot be in sand form etc. Only the main forms of bending is allowed, and only in short bursts.
I love how they made sand bending such a big part of it. I always loved the idea of sandbending. Like how lightning can be redirected through water bending methods, sandbending is like using water bending moves for earth. It’s a resourceful bending type that draws close to my heart I guess since I live in Arizona.
Honestly, one of the things korra didn't do enough of was expand on the bending styles. Sand bending is an amazing mix of water, air, and earth bending. It is arguably the only thing as versatile as water bending. But they never expand on that. I thought it was odd that they gave so many people lightning bending, but it makes more sense with sand bending. They mentioned that they changed the bending styles to do less damage to the streets and buildings. Well, a sand attack is a perfect way to not damage buildings. Plus, how are water benders adapting now that spirit plants are spreading out from the portal? The earth kingdom had water benders that could bend plants; some were even spiritually enlightened by the forest. Can they control the spirit plants? What have they learned culturally from the forest that they can bring into the modern world, especially now that a huge city has been fused with a spirit forest? They are literally the only people who would have any expertise here. Now that I am thinking about them, I feel they were not explored enough in Korra. Their whole shtick is controlling plants and living in a spirit-infused place. Now that there is a city that needs spirit-infused plants moved, they vanished. Actually, now that I think about it did they have a bigger population than the southern water tribe? They absolutely had more benders by the end of the war. Plus, I feel like plant control would still be a much more useful skill in a city than lightning generation.
May canon the foggy swamp people prefer to live in seclution they only came out of the swamp to help because the fire nation will effect them if they dont cooperate but because of the attack of the Earth Empire to harvest roots the hurt the forest they fought back and maybe got beaten by technology diffrence and numbers of the empire and force the swamp people out and into hiding also sand benders where always considered barbarian or bandits like the chiese with the steppe people of the north so normal earth bender dicriminated them
@@SteelGnat That is all possible, but now that I look back, there were more of them at Zuko's coronation than there were earth citizens in the crowd. So it seems odd that they would stick around for a coronation and still stay completely isolated afterword. Plus that " barbarian or bandit" thing doesn't matter as long as someone else learns it. Lightning bending was seen as something only elite firebenders could do, then as soon as the knowledge was out everyone started learning it. Hell, even Toph was mastering the art in the series. Also even if you said that the crowd shot was 100% of the foggy swamp tribe's population that is more then we have seen from the southern water tribe. They clearly didn't think to add the other bending styles and I think that is just plain a mistake on their part. Just as much of a mistake as the 50-foot-tall spirit giants. Plus just saying "everyone was racist, so their teachings didn't stick" doesn't work when Korra was all about ignoring past preconceptions and doing something else. That would all be perfect reasons for her to ignore metal bending and learn one of these. So if they are that discriminated against that just makes the fact they never covered it even worse. Then again, they failed so hard with the non-bender uprising I would hate to see what they do to sand benders. I mean non benders had a good reason to raise up, and they ignored that completely. If sand benders were discriminated against they would probably just make a non-sand bender the bad guy and ignore it afterward.
@@Anonymous-yh4ol Yes, korra was so full of logic, consistency, and cohesiveness. That spirit giant fight was so well foreshadowed. But really, I do like the show, I just think they made a lot of strange choices. Honestly, I think they do their best writing when they focus on smaller stories. As someone who deals with PTSD, the last season was amazing when they depowered her and explored her psyche. That was amazing. But when they go too far into the spirit side or make something too important they tend to go in strange directions. or leave things unanswered. That non-bender uprising really should have been answered. They had a LOT of good reasons to be angry and Korra just showed their leader was lying about being one of them. That doesn't mean they wouldn't all still fight after he is gone. I really feel like there should have been a new nonbending police force or something that splits power so this doesn't happen again. I mean it does say a lot when only benders and specifically metal benders can be part of the elite police force. Sure some non-metal bending cops exist, but they work under the metal benders, and the metal bending police were the ones rounding up non-benders. Also, I loved the idea of opening up the world to spirits. But at the same time when they did that spirits stopped seeming sacred. They talk like normal people, have normal emotions and now they just live next to people. Plus in the comics spirits were complaining about humans going into the spirit world and trying to make a hotel. They talk about that like it is a bad thing when the spirits are literally flooding into the human world and taking over forests as their homes? So it is ok for them to invade another world and take land but not when we do it?
Two new bending styles became more frequent lighting was kept more secret by the elites and metal was newly discovered so they expanded but I think sand was more closed off not many avatars came across sand benders not many did though earth benders were rarer because of the spirit like how every air bender was an air bender sand benders also seem to have traditional views nomads traveling the desert same lands for generations while Korra focused on the changes and differences what if they didn’t change stayed closed off segregated from others barely changed the way they lived knew of the changes outside but kept their ways Korra wouldn’t feel the need to change them and the queen would acknowledge them but not control them like fire benders never attacked them they weren’t a problem when the new government emerged maybe they saw the land as un owned vacant and saw that there were resources that were overlooked by the queen that would be a reason to force change
I'm not sure when it's coming out but I'm definitely looking forward to the continuation of the story. The 1st episode did well in introducing the characters and showing the different lifestyles of the Earth kingdom's Regions. Things really didn't improve when the Earth kingdom became the Earth federation, If anything thing it got worse.
@@dumiszsketch3431 thank you so much cause I been seeing it ever where now and am like me kind of interested and I did not see it on Netflix so am like COME ONNNNNN!!!! Now thx to you I can watch it which I am so grateful to you hope you have a wonderful night and life is treating you well 💗😀
Quality aside which is hard for me pin down after just one chapter, the pacing/release schedule is hilarious bad. first off chopping down the first chapter in 5 parts killed all my hype i had, imagine you would watch the first episode of an cool new upcoming anime over the time of 2 months, that shit really really annoyed me and then their is apparently no return in sight. This is no fun,I became interested because you hyped this project up, but if the team not actually becomes faster,we have maybe a third done in 10 years.... I know this a bit rude to say like that, but the way legend of genji is released is not good
The chapters are short meaning most of the time it feels like the plot has been just chopped off or it feels like nothing is happening. And I agree the publishing is terrible I rather wait for a full complete one than get mini parts. The long waiting also kills off the hype. The publishing schedule isn't fixed which makes it even worse.
there probably won’t be since this is just a fan project that the creators are not earning any money from and hiring animators and voice actors will be too expensive
@@crpeeper3 why is it not profitable? Edit: Nvm just remembered it's a fan project and not an official thing. So obviously there won't be any cartoon adaptation.
honestly the Legend of Genji captured my attention more than the first season of the Legend of Korra. Shows how well the Legend of Genji able to connect with the audience with just a few parts! I really like how the main character didn't come from a privileged background, and this is such an original and welcomed twist to the avatar! The avatar was never supposed to be here for the fame and the glory, but for humanity itself. tldr; i really hope the Legend of Genji continues on! It's been amazing so far!
Genji is basically a mix between Luke Skywalker + Aladdin from what I've seen so far. Also glad he has an ACTUAL FAMILY that look like they may be in more then a couple episodes.
It caught my attention as well,so I’m thinkin like hmmm maybe this can be the next avatar since the story is more interesting but since there gonna be a new official avatar in 2025 it stop the process of the fan base.
I hope they consider glass and diamond bending in the new lore. From what I can see during Korra's time, they already have glasses (cars, shops, etc..) so they already know how to manipulate sand and turn it into glass.
@@thatguystandingbehindyou0_0 really? I don't think so... Or is it canon on Genji? Unsure if it's canonized by the producers but it is a properly of sand. Also they can bend coal so a skilled bender should be able to move diamonds. It would be great to counter platinum.
@@Anonymous-yh4ol yeah it would be nice to see what happened to the swamp people. Idk about gravity bending because gravity is affected by the mass of an object. Unless an avatar could split the whole planet into two, it would be imposible. They can however make glass bending exclusive to air-earth benders offsprings. Glass blowing would need some air bending principles.
Honestly Sozin's cold War seems less corrupt than legend of korra and legend of genji. Like everyone knew what was going on, this just seems to have more factions as time moves further from Aang's generation. Seems like the Avatar's job is just to make sure humanity doesn't off itself.
Genji is giving off peter parker vibes (spiderman), like how parker left the burglar to get away which eventually kills uncle ben, instead now Genji delivers suitcases that are filled with illegal substances which - I'm guessing - eventually will kill someone close to him or cause regret in his life. Both are driven by money and greed which eventually will cause them regret.
I didn't follow Genji, so my view is based on this video and some comments here. - The fake avatar, Luan doesn't seem to be a bad character. He's just clueless and probably don't even know that he is a made-up fake to be used for political purpose. - I have a feeling one of those illegal tech is to mimic benders so everyone can technically become an avatar. - "Life isn't fair" seems to be words Genji will follow at heart that drive him as reason to do unthinkable stuff in the future and open room for his character development. - This one is just me, but IMO it would be great if in the end story Genji and Luan become bestie and history still write Luan as the avatar. Genji will realize that's what the world needed and his legend will be a secret few people know about.
So far it look like the origin is similar to Peter Parker(spider-man) so maybe they will try to make him a true Hero help people like Aang was but also know how hard life can get... It may also turn to be like(i am doing this alone tipe of caracter but in the end will let his friends help him)... Anyway it looks so good i suport the people behind this
Well, I remember at the time of release, a lot of people really hating the sever from previous generations of Avatar. To me it felt a little forced. I liked the series well enough until then, and then after that less so and I just watched it to finish it.
The Earth Kingdom lives in a cycle of tyrants and false avatars😂😂😂. Chin the Conqueror and Kuvira Avatar Kyoshi and Genji having fake impostors pretending to be avatars😂😂😂😂😂 yoooh!
I know it's a fan made project but Jesus, should have had part 1 made before you released it. Each chapter should have been 2 times longer,It's too short to and there's not enough pay off to care. A lot of these chapters were just a big nothing burger until the latest chapter.
It isn't made by a lot of designers and writers like original avatar comics. They are just people who like avatar just like you and me. And I am pretty sure they already had make at least 2 parts before releasing.
The prejudice against sandbenders probably comes from the desert nomads being the only group who routinely practised it. As an ethnicity different from most of the Earth Kingdom, or Earth Federation in this case, they may be seen by the rest of the population as no better than the desert raiders of old even if that aspect of their culture has long since been abandoned.
Luan: Im the Avatar! TV host: Wow that's great! Can we see some bending? You know? Luan: ...uh...well...you see... TV Host: ...see what? Luan: I mean I AM the Avatar of course just that...um... TV host: Oh don't worry, take your time. It's just that, Im not sure we've seen you bend anything yet. It's almost like you're NOT the avata... the Dai Li: CUT! TV Screen: *Technical Difficulties, Please stand by*
I feel Legend of Genji would be incredible a television series. What would really be nice is if Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino of Avatar Studios were watching these episodes. Maybe consider reaching out to The Legend of Genji creators to ask them about make this an actual sequel Avatar animated series and canon.
That sounds good. But, they might have plans of their own. I can accept The Legend Of Genji for what it is, an independent own product. If it's creators make it an animated series on their own, even better.
@@Anonymous-yh4ol I agree with you and agree they no doubt have plans of their own and I accept The Legend Of Genji for what it is, an independent product. I was only saying if Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino of Avatar Studios approached the creators of The Legend Of Genji to make it an animated series with the creators in control of the series. I hope they would do it because for me this story fits perfectly as a continuation for Avatar: The Last Airbender (franchise).
@@bjvincent8786 They are aware of this. They have also said that they are actively trying to not disturb the potential canonization of bigger non-canon media. They are leaving the door open, with the caveat that they may change some things to make it fit into the current canon story. The introduction could change, some characters can change etc. This was said quite recently. I got to know about it a few days ago, but I think they said it in June. It was the channel babylionturtle (or something like it) that appeared in my feed. The video provided links to the source.
that sounds like a great continuation and if they make it (which they absolutely should) I would absolutely watch it bc I love the last air bender and the legend of korra.
To be honest this whole "Legend of" thing is kinda boring now, the Legend of Korra, the legend of Genji now? People behind Avatar need to get more creative, Aang was Avatar the last Airbender, Korra is Legend of Korra, Genji deserves his own unique title.
It's just a fanfic. If the avatar creators came out tomorrow with an official avatar after Korra that would be the "real" avatar after Korra. Why does everyone act like this is an official thing or something it's just someone's RU-vid fanfiction project 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
This might be pessimistic of me to say but I can't ever see this comic ever concluding. It's trying too hard to match the level of detail to that of the show but in the process, it's become extremely slow. I know it's a fan project but it's disappointing that even after months, the story hasn't even really begun yet. Can't possibly imagine when it'll end at this pace.
I would say that this is really disappointing from the start. The story is really good, but each chapter is released every 2 weeks and they are REALLY short. I read many comics on webtoons and on average chapters are at least 2 times longer. Now they stopped uploading after just 5 chapters. I know this is a fun project, but still - they did so much hype around it that I assumed there would be more content or at least regular updates. Hope they will continue and I wish them all the best as I really love the story and appreciate the hard work it takes to do projects like that, but for now it did not live up to the hype for me.
@@dumiszsketch3431,yes I had 5 parts in mind. I would have expected all these 5 parts to be 2 chapters - then the length would be optimal. Plus it took them a few years as far as I know to prepare chapter 1 so when should we expect more? It is not looking too optimistic. I had higher expectations about the amount of content that would be released. still - the story looks great so far, hope we will get more soon.
I think they are doing things slow because they want to do it well. The preparation is huge. Below is my ramblings on why I think that. A lot of the long and fast webtoons comics are either not consistent or they have pacing that dissuades detailed lore (or good storytelling, often just plot driven with many fights). There is a third big group. The group of novels getting a comic adaptation. There is a very small part of webcomics that have quick releases, long chapters, and high quality story. I have read so many stories by a few people that have a great vision and make mistakes left and right. It seems like speed is their enemy since they can draw amazing images, give 80 panels per week, and have en entrancing story. Then I see that apparently a normal conversation is "I need..." "What?" "Look after mum!" That should not be a normal conversation, that should be an unusual conversation. But apparently people can at most use 3 words per sentence. If they manage doing the dialogue well, then the behaviour of fellow humans is an issue. Or leadership, or geography, or emotions, or technology, or chronology etc. You could even see this time constraint in LoK. They got a short amount of time to do season 2, and 3... They didn't know they would make the next season until late in the process making the entire LoK an epos instead of a cohesive storyline. LoK came out well enough but it didn't get the tools to explore the characters in the way that tLA did. Zuko got room to change slowly and in many ways. Imagine what could have been done with the Earth prince Wu! He isn't even introduced before the 40th episode. With the planning for 52 episodes from the start it would be different.
God I hate that the avatar series is becoming modern I wish they made like an barrier so the people can’t evolve so they had to rely on the bending to use life, cars are fine and that train in season 4 of korra I liked but that’s about it
Okay dudes I am confused as shit how the hell are these people know that the fake avatar (forgot name) is real when genji IS the real avatar, does the faker even know himself or is he a great con man, people like that make me sick, even in real life
I feel like something is going to happen to his mom/sister, he’ll rage and enter the avatar state by anger, and while being in the avatar state he’ll have a chat with korra
Stories always have to be so over the top dramatic these days, don't they? 😑 Something dramatic has to happen all the time these days as if everyone is bored too quickly. As if everyone is afraid of a little bit of peace or something heartwarming. In my opinion that is very disappointing, just like the fact that I didn't see any humor in this story, which makes it weirder for me that it is an avatar story! And I thought ATLOK was already disappointing. I'm a huge fan of ATLA and they should have kept it at that ⬇️
Do you think Appa getting attacked and taken by sand benders cause future sand benders to be seen as terrible people? When appa got taken, it was one of aangs worst moments. He was angry and lost for a few episodes, from still being in the desert all the way to the serpents lake. You think because the avatar had a terrible experience with them all those years ago, people heard about it then just created this long chain of hate that lasted generations? I mean it’s probably not it, but still, what if?
Am I the only one who thinks that the Kyoshi Books took a lot of inspiration from Genji ? Fake Avatar , Water Avatar passing away at a young age and all
The Legend Of Genji is ok. I'm enjoying this story so far. I think it's overrated & overhyped too fast too soon. It lacks the original creator's level of creativity, to say the least. But I take and enjoy what I can get. ATLA(Avatar: The Last Airbender) & TLOK(The Legend Of Korra) have so many differences and things that set the 2 shows so very much apart. TLOG(The Legend Of Genji) is so much like TLOK. I like TLOK but I love so much and am so in love with ATLA. TLOK lacked and felt short from/of many things of ATLA and what made it what it is. "The Sandbox" idea is good to learn more, explore, expand, dive deeper,... Sandbending, underground fighting & many other different forms of competition fighting other than Probending. I don't think Sandbending in Probending is a good idea, yet. I would prefer simplicity first then complexity since there's still so much... The 4 main Bending Styles, with the inclusion of Airbending now that the Air Nomad Nation is back. This time more can be explored & expanded with all 4 elements and catch up Airbending in Probending. It's rules, forms, styles, teams, environments,... a different form of Bending for all 4 Bending Styles. I would also love to see so so so much much more close combat Non-Bending styles that are the extension or foundation of/from the Elementbending Styles, being much further added, explored, expanded & used in the story, and including in Probending. Styles Of: Firebending-Northern Shaolin Earthbending-Hung Gar Metalbending-Chu Ka Waterbending-Tai Chi Airbending-Ba Gua Probending-Tricking Also mixed and reinvented. Including the Probending Style/Form in TLOK. I would also like to learn what KUNG FU Style is Sandbending & translated to Probending, also into TLOK Probending Style,... Maybe something like Wing Chun, Choy Li Fut, White Crane, Black Tiger, Incense Shop Boxing, Hop Gar, Lion Dance, Southern Shaolin, Lama, Dragon Dance, Mok Gar, Chu Gar, Li Gar, Choy Gar, Dog Boxing, Dragon, Bare - Knuckle/No Gear, No Equipments/No Rules-Ancient San Shou,... other Martial Arts, Forms of Combat,... rare or extinct. Something close to Hung Gar since Earthbending/Hung Gar & Metalbending/Chu Ka are connected. Sandbending is connected to Earthbending like Metalbending so should the Styles like Hung Gar & Chu Ka which are both connected. For starters, one connection is they are both Southern China Styles. It would be interesting to see, learn, explore,... Ancient San Shou since it is connected to Real World-SPORT MMA. Fighter, Champion, Legend, Veteran, Forefather of the sport MMA: SAN SHOU & MMA CHAMPION-CUNG LE. Since Sandbenders already wear wraps on their limbs and head, the 5 points of a star, Muay Thai, MMA & Lethwei. San Shou as main style mix with Muay Thai, MMA & Lethwei like CHAMPION DAVE LEDUC bare - head & knuckle kickboxing, using all body parts including head, elbows, knees, stomps, jump stomps, flying elbows & knees, punches, kicks, head butts, neck, takedowns & flying takedowns & submissions, no equipments & no rules,... which is truly Ancient San Shou or SAN SHOU. Now, SANDA which fights were to the death can represent Sandbending. Tony Jaa could serve as inspiration since Genji & story background already remind me of him and his characters/movies. It seems like that is the direction the character is heading. If you haven't seen these movies then you should watch: Ong-Bak Ong-Bak 2 Ong-Bak 3 Protector Protector 2 Something tells me you know.
"the double avatar part felt like a copy of Kyoshi" Technically there could be more of a case made for kyoshi's fake avatar thing being copied from this, seeing as this project itself is far older than that.

A Combustionbender is a good idea. And the Avatar after that should be an Energybender. And the Avatar after that should be a Bloodbender. So on and so forth.
yall just gotta realize that aangs story has past, they cant do another story like that, get over it, im tired of people comlaining, thats the reason the story stopped for a while after korra, its the STORY, if you dont like it watch the original show

The only thing that disappoints me, is how they take a long time to release each part. 1 part every 2 weeks, and we're not even in Chapter 2. Honestly, if it were just a little bit longer, I wouldn't complain.
Nice! It feels very "prince and the pauper." Where they will both learn from each other, maybe switch places at some point, become friends thru their trials, and see that walking in someone else's shoes will benefit you for the change of your perspective. Can't wait for more!
Looking at Rise of Kyoshi and now this Why is it that there's room of having "FALSE AVATARS" I thought in The Last Airbender they explicitly pointed out that you have to go through very specific tests that the past avatars went through and the reason the next Avatar passes is because the tests have always been FAMILIAR
Honestly, I dislike the whole modern aesthetic. One of the many reasons why I disliked Korra. A different beautiful world filled with mysteries, strange bending of the elements, dragons and flying bisons , huge earth turtles and many different creatures. Avatar to me is something that gets me away from today's world, transporting me to another. I agree that the idea of how they'd use bending with today's technology is something interesting to think about. And I did like seeing how our beloved characters ended up in the future, but for me... Avatar started and ended with Aang's journey.
Plot twist: they are twins. Twin Avatars with one having spirit bending, the other the connection with the previous avatars. They both only possess two bending abilities. The spirit bender goes into the spirit world to re-establish the connection for the other sibling, so that they both can bend all 4 elements.
Sad to see this series won’t be continuing. My secret hope is that Avatar Studios bought their story and that Genji will become an officially canon Avatar.
