@@memelocks7066 Well. :D The thing is they aren't all siblings but their cousins, aunts, grandmas, second cousins all look the same. XD Like...Uuuf talk about strong genes.
IScareWomenAway in my opinion if she didn’t chi block Azula, both Azula and Mai would have died, Azula makes one lightning strike, Mai goes straight for her heart or her neck
It's weird that Katara and Sokka has a lot of boys and females attracted to them. Katara- Aang, Jet and Zuko. (I don't count Haru since he is too old for Katara and they don't interract much) Sokka- Yue, Suki, Ty Lee, Toph
Ty Lee is such an underrated character imo. She goes from hating her identity as a septuplet to embracing uniformity to serve others. And she’s crazy talented, funny, and pretty!
I low-key think Ty Lee better understood Zuko than both Azula and Mai. She is very empathetic and seemed to have a clear grasp on Zuko's inner turmoil and conflict.
Bro, why are you everywhere? And you give the best insights on litterally every video. These deep-cover Republic Ops let your wisdom shine through, Master Kenobi.
@@elementer5617 I'm not so sure about that. Ty Lee is very in touch with her own identity as part of a "matching set" so she has a pretty good grasp on other people and how they feel with respect to the world. She's also not stuck in her own world. She might seem ditzy but she knows what's up. She knew that Azula was basically threatening her into leaving the circus which is why she joined her elite team. She was smart enough to know that Mai had a thing for Zuko, focused enough to expertly hunt down Team Avatar, and aware enough to expertly infiltrate the Earth Kingdom as in a disguise. But my biggest indication to how much she understood Zuko is in "the Beach" episode when Zuko burned his family photo in the campfire. Zuko's relationship with his family hurt him and the only way he could deal with it in the moment was by destroying any reminder of it, so he would not have to think about it. Ty Lee questioned him on it, saying that the photo mattered to him. Zuko says he don't care. Ty Lee says "I think you do" and she's right. Zuko fire back by saying she didn't know him. Ty Lee sincerely responds by literally saying "I know you" and she really does. She knows the difficulties that Zuko as lived. She knows his mom disappeared, how Zuko was banished, and how Azula is. Ty Lee is a very emotional person and understands the emotions of those around her. She's basically Azula's best friend (or the closest thing Azula has to a best friend) so it makes sense for her to understand her best friend's brother. In a normal relationship Azula would also understand Zuko as his sister, but, Azula being Azula, has some serious problems. She is twisted and just does not get Zuko so Ty Lee being her best friend really is the one who understands Zuko best.
Ty Lee: “I have six sisters that look identical to me!” Clone Trooper: “I have 200,000 brothers that look identical to me, with a million more well on the way.”
I love how every character in Avatar is very well written, there are just so many amazing backgrounds, including Ty Lee’s. I believe Avatar is such a great show, not only because of it’s amazing plot, but the way they keep the story so balanced between drama, conflict, love, and comedy. It is definetly one of the greatest shows in my opinion, it is for all ages
@@sar0jam maybe im just a really forgiving person but i don't think that's true. She was a child who clearly was suffering mentally and her father used that to his advantage. Plus her mother didn't help her much either. Despite being loving towards Zuko she didn't really show much of that towards Azula. She lacks empathy and wasn't really shown what real love was as a child so yeahhh of course she's gonna turn out a lil crazy. Look at the ideology her father taught her.
Alot of people think she might be an airbender descendant. Her eyes are grey like most airbenders and her face is rounder like Aangs. She is also very spiritual and into aura like an airbender would be. It makes sense that an escaped airbender could have possibly hidden right under the fire nations nose just like the blood bender did when she escaped prison.
I’m sure Ty lee was a descendant of air nomads who hid on the fire nation before the genocide, her round face, eye and hair color match Aang’s not to mention her airy acrobatic movements and overall personality, attitude, beliefs in karma and positive vibes. So the people who got air bending during her harmonic convergence on the legend of Korra were long descendants of air nomads survivors who never awaken or suppressed their bending and spiritual bond for more than the 100 years war and the 50+ years Aang lived, so long they had forgotten their roots.
I like this theory, it is probably more realistic that a few nomads did escape the genocide and that not all of the Fire Nation would have been sympathetic towards the reason they did the genocide.
@@vitazissel3671 Yeah I mean... they had Kids, right? o.O' And since Bending is a Genetics-Stuff... they HAD to reproduce - since there where female Monks aswell (i mean at least one Avatar was)
I do like imagining the non-bender characters getting bending. Ty Lee i see as a fire bender or air bender. Asami i see as an air bender. Sokka i see as a water bender. Suki i see as an earth bender.
Theres a theory that says ty lee is actually a descendant of air nomads, the theory said that when the war started, some air nomads could've escaped and went into hiding, suppressing their powers and blended into the fire & earth cities nearby, which would also explain how in legend of korra, a lot of new air benders were of earth kingdom descent. Not only does ty lee have the agility to match aang's, but her eye color and facial features and overall persona is very similar to aang's. Edit : wow I didn't think my comment would get this many likes 😂 thanks everybody!!
@@angeLxLaw There's a video on the air genocide which explains that theory. It also explains why during harmonic convergence some people got airbending. The reason would be that some airbenders blended within the earth kingdom population (as it is a very varied population regarding echnitcity as we see throughout the series) so their genes were passed from generation to generation and when the convergence occurred the people with airbending genes were able to airbend.
Ty Lee is definitely a great character. At first I thought she was just gonna be a super annoying Mary Sue, but I was wrong. She’s way more relatable than that.
I read a theory that Ty Lee’s ancestors were the last of the Airbenders during the genocide & fled to blend in elsewhere & suppress their powers. Later ended up in Fire Nation colonies and to the Fire Nation as generations went on. She’s really into spirituality & Aura’s like the monks were. It was a really good theory.
Ngl, I’m quite shocked that even now, 11 years after the show ended, its crazy that a side character like Ty Lee is still playing such a relatively big role in the Avatar lore.
I think this is common in families with Twins. The parents often try to force this stereotype upon their children by dressing them the same all for the funsies. So sad.
I don’t like how powerful Chi Blocking is. Lots of soldiers around you? Chi Block! Boys liking you? Chi Block! A cute boy that you have a crush on? Chi Block! Want to get your friend’s brother back? Chi Block! Kyoshi warriors that are ugly? Chi Block! Your enemies telling a king important information? Chi Block! Going against the Avatar? CHI BLOCK!
@The DJ_Faith Well yes and no . Ty lee was completely resistant to nin Hais blood ending cuz she can control her chi flow . Ty lee can avoid obstacles and can beat an entire group of benders
Well the closest thing to chi blocking in real life is a liver hit, which if done correctly will knock the victim to the ground, maybe even rupturing their liver
*"EAUGH!* This tea is nothing more than hot leaf juice!" "Uncle, that's what *ALL* tea is." "How could a member of my own family say something so *HORRIBLE* ?!" -Zuko and Iroh
I thought Azula was threatening Ty Lee by lighting the circus set on fire, and Ty Lee realized Azula was more powerful and could hurt her so she joined Azula, but did not want to admit her fear by claiming she needed a career change
The way Azula comforted ty lee in the beach episode really made me believe that she was not pure evil and there was a good side on her, even if it was just a little i don't think anyone is born evil. Azula always had to looks at her mother favouring zuko and acting like she didn't know or didn't care at all, also having his father's expectations on her, the only 2 people in the world who she trusted, betrayed her, her father leaving her behind, and having those visions of her mother...That affected her brain alot, making her let out all of the emotions she kept inside for years, exploding and making a monster. I believe things could have been different if Ursa didn't picked favorites in the first place
Ty Lee is a character who has secret depth. She has air nomad like qualities and real problems. She hides behind positivity but has true depth. I wish we got to see more of that in the show, just little details would be nice.
ty lee is such an underrated character, she is always keeping a positive energy despite having a hard home life and losing one of her closest friends. especially in the beach scene she shows how good she is at studying ppl and she is so talented that she took down groups of men and many powerful benders.
If the theory about her being an Air Nomad descendant turns out to be true. I bet it could be heartbreaking. While Aang could relived that some of his people might’ve survived the genocide (at least until they died out), yet understood how much is hard a lot to take in this could. At this point, Ty Lee could feel ashamed of that she grew in the same ruthless empire that wiped what basically are her people.
I hope we see more of Ty Lee with new avatar studios content. It would have been awesome if she ended up with Haru🙂 And perhaps we get confirmation if she is air nomad descandant. We really don't know her life post show. Would be quite nice if Pema us the granddaughter of Ty Lee. And Haru. Do not forget Haru🙃
@@happycloud8517 She probably was supposed to be an air bender but her mother ransacked away since the air temples were attacked and lived life in the fire nation circus
i absolutely love ty lee she’s always been my favorite character. i loved her chi blocking and acrobatics. i really wish we had gotten to see more of her in atla or her legacy in tlok (i mean there are chi blockers yes, but i want to see what ty lee personally accomplished, also those chi blockers were bullies i feel like ty lee would’ve impacted the kyoshi warriors in some way or even training in the police force)
Mai: Guess that’s why you always needed ten boyfriends. You didn’t get enough attention when you were a kid, so you’re trying to make up for it now. Also Mai: *has had two boyfriends*
everyone has their coming out moment, but for me? Ty Lee was the cartoon crush of mine that made me realize I also liked women. not only is she extremely attractive, but she also has an amazing heart for those shes close to
they both share amazing souls with encouragement, motivation, and charm as their personalities. Oh if the writers gave these two more moments in the show and in the comics
@@Dragonfire1911 yeah I wish they just kept going it probably would be a much better build up too the legend of Kora because they kinda just threw in new characters and story in there. Don't get me wrong I still like it it's just it wasn't as good as the original series
To be honest, I believe that Ty Lee and Mai are not really bad. Because, Mai is Zuko’s Girlfriend and Ty Lee became a Kyoshi Warrior. Also, AZULA. I cannot believe that in a kids show, she went to a mental hospital-
A transcription excerpt about Ty Lee that really spoke to me: She thought about going back to the circus. But she had seen how broken the world was, and wanted to fix it. She knew that she would make much more of a difference as a Kiyoshi Warrior than as an acrobat in a circus... after hanging around her sisters, it made her realise that there were advantages to being a part of matched set; as lots of the world's problems are too big to tackle alone... with the warriors, she didn't always have to match because she could take her make-up off whenever she wanted.
Ty Lee and Azula clearly had a love/hate relationship. Azula did care for her like when she made Ty Lee cry and then apologized and felt guilty about it.
no they were kind of friends ... you'll see azula being waaay nicer to ty lee and mai than anyone else(except for her father) and she also shows hints of her being nice to them.
Let's be honest here Ty Lee definitely have a crush on Sokka, yet she joins the same team as Sokka's girlfriend (probably the most good villain assistant/friend)
@@QueenDany69 That's not true. In fact, the exact opposite happened in the comic Smoke and Shadow. The team of Ty lee and Suki were beaten by Azula with little to no effort on the latters part.
