The lyrics are from Scott to his wife...when she was ill in the hospital...then about their wedding...then finding out about her pregnancy. Mostly a reflection of his deep love for her and being blessed with the life they have together. It's pretty straight forward..and beautiful.
Watch this version from 2 years ago……If anybody had any doubts about the meaning behind this song, watch Scott bring it with emotion and beauty. This gondola version and the Lexington version are my favorites….by far.

this is going to be one of my favorite vids of these boys. thanks so much for posting this! they sound so good no matter where they play. can you imagine getting on one of those gondolas and the avett brothers are there to serenade you for the ride??? god, i would die a happy girl. these guys are the best singers/songwriters/performers/musicians this world has had the priviledge to listen too in a looooong time!

I couldn't agree more. It was me, Scott's bride, the video guy and the boys. They played Murder in the City on the way up with extended jam but the cameraman ucked up the tape! My avorite is when Seth uses Scott's tuning pegs as a cymbal at 1:07

Real music. I sense everything from the Grateful Dead to the Black Crowes to KOL in their music - such a great, unique sound. Can't wait to see these guys in person.
@cp911s Thank you!! Actually, I was wrong..I listen to a podcast called Celt in a twist..and they actually play a song by them called Ten Thousand Words and the moment I heard that song I loved it. Then I found this song. So I will def. check out the rest of their music..
I always (I've watched video a lot) imagine being there on that path and looking over to see the playing. Like, "Hey that's one of my favorite bands playing in that gondola!" I know people were there to see them play anyways, but I would've peed my pants. I had a ticket to see them earlier this year and I missed the show. So, so sad; come back to Edgefield!
Just a fantastic band. I was at their small concert in Munich, Germany on 08-16-2011. Did anyone film at that particular one. I'd love to see clips from it. There was only one on You Tube - bad quality.
