yeah i can confirm as someone who owns a copy of the Lewis Carroll version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland they 100% used the book’s illustrations as their “in-game” assets lmao
The only thing that confused me as to if that was fully true or not was how colorful the images used were. From what little I have seen of the book. The art didnt have much color unless I am misremembering which could be the case.
@@chessecontainment The Alice books are good in the sense they show the time period they where written in, being a lot darker then other watered down interpretations. It also shows Lewis Carroll's head space at the time, the man has interesting but very bad history and in my opinion makes the books way more fascinating to read. Outside of this theres some cool illustrations and visual word play, hope this helps :)
lots of games include stock images, but they've been specifically chosen to fit the theme and edited to work even better. here they looked up "royalty free boomerang no payment png no background transparent" and took the first result completely unchanged and dropped it in

The dev's response feels like they're trying to say that these critique vids made them upset, but it just comes across as passive-aggressive because of the quote, which makes it hard to feel bad for them. 😟

The more I look at this game, the more it reminds me of a really early prototype of Cuphead that was never shown, where they added existing rubber hose animation as a joke before deciding on the player character and art style.
The game being also released on all console reminds me of that one The Last of Us rip-off on the Nintendo switch called The Rest of Us. Idk for me it’s weirdly funny and painful at the same time

I swear the dev is actually a kid and made the game but begged to their parents to help them set up an official steam page and other store pages like I swear these games look like the scratch games I made when I was 7 😭😭
The devs out here stating essentially to "BLOCK OUT DEM HATERS" meanwhile, they're expecting us to pay 5 dollars for a game that is essentially a bootleg DVD of a popular cartoon movie. Also, I'm pretty sure some of the assets they used here are technically not in the public domain, at least not yet. I will not be surprised if this will be taken down with the fierce hand of corporate Jesus.

They did some very MINOR replacements, like the Spongebob jellyfish being replaced with PNGs of mushrooms. It's still chock full of cut and pasted cartoon characters.

If the steam release date is true, then this game is way too rough around the edges to be a released product. A lot of the animations are too stiff, the guns and their bullets don’t match with the color or theming, heck some of the backgrounds don’t match, they have SpongeBob jellyfish in the trailer, Mickey and Minnie move stiffly, apparently some animations were copied from other people (though I’m going off of memory from hearse here), and it looks way too much like a late alpha or early beta at least. I don’t want them to do the usual “release now and update it later” technique because this is just not serviceable as a finished product, even enchanted portals was better in comparison visually on release date. If I were in the same room as them I’d suggest to postpone the release to a later date at the very least. To add to this, it just doesn’t look fun to play from the trailer view, hence why as you said, no one, or at least not a lot of people, have good expectations for this game based on the trailer.
i mean, since mickey mouse is public domain, and rubberhose rampage is a cuphead clone, can't someone else just make a better Cuphead mickey mouse game and not be in any legal trouble?
