The Bad News Piles Up for Shaun - The Good Doctor 

Freddie Highmore is a highly perfect actor, he is an Oscar winner for me.

His acting is amazing my son has autism and this is exactly what happens when he melts down, it's agony to watch.

this is such perfect acting! I cried so much watching this. It makes you really feel everything building up that lead to that point and how much he was hurting.

This scene made me cry a lot actually because you can see how hard Shaun tried to save the baby but couldn't and it probably reminds him of losing his baby

Freddie Highmore's performance is so extraordinary. He deserves an award.

I feel that losing this baby made Shaun feel like he is losing his baby all over again. He feels like he failed again. He failed to stop his baby dying despite nothing could be done but he felt that this baby could have been saved by him had the medication has not been expired. Add to the fact that he thinks everyone is either leaving him or lying to him and he just reached his breaking point.

Shaun has unresolved trauma. Glassman leaving triggered his abandonment issues and was not too different from when Lea left him. Lea lying about the scores triggered his unresolved hurt from when Lea turned him down in S3. He felt like she didn't respect him then or now. Losing the baby triggered his unprocessed grief over his and Lea's loss. The people that he trusts most have left him, lied to him and did things that showed a lack of respect for him & displayed they felt he was incapable of handling his own issues. Once Shaun acknowledges his underlying issues and understand why others behaved how they did things will be ok. Lea deleted reviews because she loves him and Salens system is flawed. Glassman left because he felt that he was no longer useful to Shaun and was grieving the loss of his marriage. Also Glassman has to realize that he is Shauns surrogate father. No matter how old or independent your kids are you don't stop being their parent. Lea has to realize that Shaun is not a child who needs to be managed or constantly protected.

I'm a grown man with daughters in their thirties and this actually broke my heart cuz I've been watching the good doctor for a minute now it's a very very good show and yes the Freddy is Emmy Worthy

“ You lied to me. I can’t trust you. And I can’t marry you. “ that hit so hard, in a relationship you need trust, the fact that she lied to him was heartbreaking, and him saying that was heartbreaking

If this man doesn’t get nominated for an emmy after this i swear….

We didn’t see Shaun grieve for his baby… but then this scene happened!! I hope he forgives Lea because she did everything she could to make the transition easier & was filling in for Glassman💔

The fact that Freddie Highmore still doesn't have an Oscar for this show is just comedy at this point....

It’s hard to believe that Freddie Highmore hasn’t received an Emmy yet. He is amazing in this role & just as amazing in Bates Motel. It was hard to believe he really wasn’t insane. He is the perfect actor to play Shaun. Please Hollywood, take a serious look at this guy. His acting is amazing. I will never miss an episode of this show.

To think this guy use to be Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory now look how far he’s come

No matter how much shawn faces many challenges, this episode and what he's been through may have been the darkest moment. He trusted his fiancé, lost his kid, got fired, and many more I haven't listed, but this will make me cry because he cares about his patients to not go through what he's have been through.

"I'm right here"and " I got you " are two very powerful statements to soothe Dr.Murphy!! Wonderfully portrayed emotions!

I'm autistic, and, this is what a meltdown feels like. Written accurately to the core, in every single aspec. Longlasting agony that aches so crudely, it usually isn't possible to be described. This show and, genuinely, award deserving actor are here to prove you can portray autistic struggles in a way that makes sense from neurotypicals AND for us. It's miraculous.

I´ve been waiting to see this scene since episode 1. Because yeah, Glassman is HIS "DAD" but writers always find a way to make him such an idiot in every season. I am glad they finally give them the opportunity to be a fam in such a powerful way.

as an autistic person, i think his acting was so incredible and, thanks to him, this is one of the only shows ive found that accurately and respectduly represents autism. i related so much tto this scene, i could feel what he was feeling because i have so many times, and i started crying. im very grateful for this show, because it helped me not feel so alone.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure what to think. The cost cutting measures Salen put in were going to come back and be devastating but I didn't see it being this devastating. I can see some of the staff rallying behind Shaun, Glassman and Dr. Lim to push Salen out of power but it also questions where Morgan and Dr. Andrews' alliances lie as well as Dr. Park. As far as the wedding, I personally think it'll still be on but Shaun needs time as getting over something this devastating as well as her lying and altering Shaun's reviews just doesn't clear up immediately. For me, this has been one of the best midseason finales this show put on...even more than season 2. From episode 1, I always had that sneaking suspicion about Salen and what her true motives were and I think here it shows.

The way Freddie Highmore brings this charecter to life with his expressions is truly amazing. He deserves an emmy. But unfortunately nowadays, Hollywood is a place where popularity is the measure for awards.

Doing the wrong thing for the right reasons is still the wrong thing. I understand fans love Lea and love her relationship with Shaun and that’s pushing them to want this resolved quickly, but the fact of the matter is Lea broke Shaun’s trust. Why she did it doesn’t matter. Damage doesn’t care about intentions. Do I believe they can bounce back from this? More than likely. But it’s going to take time. And it should. Seeing Shaun break down and have everything crash on top of him all at once was so painful to watch. Freddie was amazing here.

Freddie Highmore is a brilliant actor and in my opinion doesn't get enough credit for his acting. You couldn't have picked a more perfect actor to play Shaun.

As someone with mild Autism this hit me hard. I've learned to take a day once in awhile just to sit and cry. It takes a lot to hold my emotions in control and over time it builds up.. I'm lucky I've got a wonderful husband and when I say I'm having a cry day he just lets me cry and let it out. He has no idea just how much it means to me to be able to say I'm have a cry day and he lets me! GOD thank you for putting this man in my life.

The fact that Freddie Highmore has to ACT breakdowns like these. I just can’t believe how he goes through these scenes, I have gone through breakdowns myself similar to these and it’s so uncomfortable when you cry to the point when Dr. Glassman has too hug him cause he’s whole mind just broke into pieces. It’s hard too watch Shaun going through this even though it’s acting

I feel so worried for him even though it's just a drama it makes wonder if someone had to go through that in real life.

It's intereresting that sometimes the exceptional child actors can't transition to adult careers and then you get someone like Freddie who clearly just has a gift and gets better and better and better. This is an Emmy performance IMHO.

What really peeves is Shaun going to be used as the scapegoat when the show returns. Her sitting in the boardroom with him saying he killed the baby in the promo. Her true colors show right there. I hope Lim takes her down.

This hits so hard for me except in a different situation. I have autism and I do try my best when it comes to working with groups at school for projects but there has been mean people that would abandon me over nothing or maybe it is me. I can't really adapt to change very well so when things start changing around me that's when I get very upset and most likely have a panic attack. This still happens today with me being a 20 year old and I am almost going to graduate college with an associates. This scene made me cry very much and it got me thinking about my past experiences. Freddie Highmore is a very good actor.

I have ASD as well. It's been a while since my last meltdown, but I'll try to put the experience into words as best as I can. It is an extreme and quick sensation of feeling overwhelmed my both the regrets of the past and the anxieties of the future. We like routines and patterns because it is easier to predict what will happen next so we can prepare for it in our daily lives. We can adapt, but once we do, we tend to assume that this will be a new routine that will allow us to prepare for a new future. Unfortunately, this can lead us to assume the worst of the worst possible futures. In my opinion, no human is meant to handle the dread, panic, and impending sense of doom that occurs as a result. Murphy's case is unique due to the unpredictable nature of his profession, but we see throughout the show how he is still reliant upon routines. Additionally, he knows how problematic lies can be for him and others, so he dislikes them in general. With the death of his unborn child and the lies he received from the two people he loves most, the pain of the past told lead him to believe that his future would the same pattern. His painful past collided with his anxious future and it overwhelmed him in a matter of seconds.

This scene was so powerful!!! I work with ASD children and it’s heartbreaking to see them have meltdowns like this. Freddie is such an amazing actor💕

This has got to be the best winter finale to any tv show I have ever seen. I hope Salen gets sued and gets out of here. Look at the damaged she’s caused. The worst part is, she wants them to lie to the parent about the baby. What a disgrace.

I loved the part where Shaun ripples the invitation then just looks at it all shocked, like "did I just do that?" And being confused for a second there like he forgot where he was for a second. Really showed how he was overwhelmed with emotion; grief, anger, you name it. Superb acting on Freddy's part 👌🏻

I hate how people are judging the whole show based on out of context clips now. At least engage with the things you’re critical of.

As an autistic person, this meltdown was spot on!! I felt his emotions so deeply!! People always think we don't have empathy but for many the opposite is true! We feel too much we love deeply more than a neurotypical person could understand. And it is painful! He is trying himself because he blames him self and squeezes his head because it is all way too much. Everything has him completely overstimulated. I can't quite describe it but it's like trying to make everything stop so you can breathe… I don't have the words. So thankful that's this gifted actor is passionate about portraying autism as accurately as possible. Remember if you met one person with autism you have met one person with autism. We are all different. That's why its called a spectrum. God bless!!😘🙌🙏🫶

I hope Shaun comes to understand leas actions and the concept of doing the wrong thing for the right reasons and also comes to understand that the ratijg systems was wrong in the first place so while lea was wrong the whole "score thing" was even more wrong and set up to make people like Shaun feel like failures. It's just another reason Salen needs to go. I miss Claire I want to see how she would handle all this...I know she wouldn't be happy

This part actually made me cry! What a phenomenal acting by Freddie Highmore! When he started crying after his outburst on Glassman, that was the moment I lost it too!!

“You should’ve been running the hospital if you were the baby would not have died” I think this goes past the baby they were trying to save in this episode and Shaun also thinks that if Dr.Glassman was around at the time to run the hospital then him and Lea wouldn’t have lost their child

I agree and feel bad for Shaun. That crazy salen needs to go . She crossed the line

"Why is everyone lying to me? Why?!" That. That line is when I sympathize the most with Shaun. As someone with a mental disorder I know how hard it hits on you when you discover that everyone you ever trusted have lied to make you feel better just because you're not "normal".

I have never felt the emotions of someone that's acting plus through a screen so deeply this was a great performance and Freddie Highmore is an amazing actor
