@@chrissmith7669 while everyone has their own preferences and that is great, you have to be kidding if you think Whitney struggled to hit high notes. She had one of the most flexible and powerful voices in pop history. That said, I agree that Dolly’s version is softer, sweeter and more intimate. This highlights one of the many things I love about music - how two different artists can sing the same song in such different ways and how we can enjoy them both for their different interpretations.

No it was written by Brian May of Queen and is still one of my favorite songs from them.

And it fit perfectly in the movie - "The Body Guard". But Dolly Parton's is so very, very beautiful. It's so hard to believe that there are still people who do not know who wrote and performed the original. Dolly's quiet style of her song is just so full of emotions rendered out thru the lyrics.

Fifty to sixty% of people were tuning in to see Dolly and Porter was not about to let her go! They damn near came to blows! She basically told him that she would be sick for the rest of the year......He told her that if she would write him a number one song, he would release her! And that's where always love you came from......It sure as fuck wasn't a tribute to Porter. She was very close to hating him at that time...It was all about money for Waggoner and Parton was his best money maker.......But, writing that song to show him how much she loved him, fuck no!!
