I am truly amazed at his course. Professors like him are rare. This course is taught with intellectual mathematical equations that intrigue my mind into becoming a unified artist. Thank You so much for enlightening my creativity.
Using tight, stiff analytical drawings to make urself become better at gesture drawing. Genius stuff right there, bcuz when u need to blast something out in 3d perspective u already know it by charting it so much in flat space it becomes second nature in space.
Freeze the video then pres Shift + print screen. Open up an drawing package (Photo shop) select new then press Ctrl+V and paste the screen print into Photoshop. Use the Crop tool to cut out he part of the screen print you require. For me it is far too boring even to contemplate doing.

I used the "rule of three" on a landscape drawing and it came out looking wrong. I applied his golden ratio, cropped and accented the intersection points, and it was better immediately! BTW, forget 1:1.6, use 5:8, its almost exactly the same.
Well it literally the same but multiplied by 5, the thing is that it isn't exactly 1.6, that's why the bigger the numbers the more forgivable the margin of error will be.
this just seems astonishingly over complex . I agree with a need for proportion and basic geometrical relationships ,but this level of detailed analysis seems too much.
This skill made my composition so much easier. But I enjoy Italian works of Raphaello, Caravaggio, Di Vinci, etc. It helped to see their drawings, frescos and paintings.
Watching this video convinced me I do not wish to sign up to pay for the Barnstone Drawing Course. It is exactly the same as a technical Drawing course at school in 1964. This method will produce drawings without soul.
It's the exact opposite of teaching stiff drawing, it's making u better drawing free bcuz ur used to charting drawings in dead space, thus the reason for the 3 pages of gesture drawing of the bottles
His students have posted some beautiful work and he does have acclaim from other professionals. You can learn this stuff now or come by it by happenstance, much more arduously. I'm wondering what your work looks like?
Math is a constant and used to explain the world around us. If you dont know how to construct a composition and lead an eye, there will be no way to convey your message. Is literature soulless because it relies of strict grammar?

I'm sorry but if you can't understand this, I really doubt your claims lol. But I do believe you, most likely you need to widen the definitions of words he's using or else you'll not understand.
I've just turned 18 and the fortunate thing is you could just look at what he's doing and understand. There are lines explaining his thought process. It isn't difficult. If you have anything over a grade 8 math education you will easily understand.
