Barry Bonds is THE GREATEST MLB player ever...there's no doubt pure excitement and just an unstoppable force...the only hitter where the opposing team with the bases loaded still walks Bonds... Mr. Covey Cove he put more balls in that water then rain dropped water in it lol...G.O.A.T.
Unless they allow steroid use again.. if they do that, we'll see someone better. If they don't, it's possible that Bonds will be the greatest player ever to play
I grew up a Giants fan, went to countless Giants games with my dad, and even took my own kids to watch the Giants play....I can honestly say that Barry Bonds is the greatest I've ever seen play the game. NO ONE went to the bathroom or went to get food at the park when Barry was coming up to bat. NO ONE.
I agree 100% growing up in the California central valley in the 90's I was obsessed with Barry and I still believe he was the greatest. He did it all better than anybody. Some guys are good at a few things an lack in others. Not Barry he was a stud. The media just didn't get him. Ballplayers play ball, they aren't typical celebrities yet they're expected to be.
27:22 He is still spinning his bat around as Randy starts his windup yet manages to quickly get into perfect hitting position to crank one out off one of the best pitchers ever
Yea but he and quite a few others should be in of thats the case. A rod is the best ss of my generation and it’s not even close. All the hr leaders are outfielders besides arod.
@@gregorypearce7468 He had 2 HoF careers 1 as a Pirate and 1 as a Giant but no the writers that voted him the MVP all those times wont vote him in the Hall of Fame 🤦♂
So honored to have been able to watch the Greatest Of All Time do it as a Giant.. I still remember his homer against Percival in Top of the 9th down 2… and Salmon saying that’s the furthest ball I’ve seen hit!!!!
Here's an interesting fact for everyone to know: Barry Bonds has only 1 season where he struck out over 100 times in a season (his rookie year) but Barry Bonds had 14 season where he's walked over 100 times and 5 seasons where he's walked over 150 times... That's ridiculous 🤦🏿♂️
totally. he was intentionally walked over 600 times in his career that is totally insane! That's how feared he was at the plate. Nobody and I mean NOBODY wanted any part of this guy! The only way to get him out was to throw STRIKES... something that was very risky because no place in that zone was safe.
When in the face of greatness....just stay in awe. This man was the greatest baseball player EVER. Period. I got to enjoy most of those highlights as they happened. Tainted or not, he was the best at it.
He never failed a drug test. Writers didn't like him because he didn't talk to them. He didn't sign autographs and he didn't promote the sport he just played it. To him it was a business and people didn't like it.
I Remember Him in my Baseball childhood he hit his 756 homerun at 43 years of age An beat Hank aarons Record. I been a Giants Fan since Barry Bonds. I live in Texas now I'm a Houston Astros Fan Thank you Barry Bonds for everything ⚾️
He is the greatest I grew up watching the man play he could’ve played the last like 10 years of his career with no bat and he would still have the highest OPS ever
Pre-2000: -Complete player (1993 - his best overall season; HR title, hits, walks, IBB, stolen bases, doubles, triples, Gold glove, great batting average, runs, RBIs, OBP, SLG, OPS, etc) -40/40 guy (1996) -Beat Mark McGwire in HR contest (1996) -Intentionally walked with the bases loaded (1998) *VERY RARE -8 Gold gloves -3 MVPs -7 Silver Sluggers Post-2000: -Single season HR record (2001) -Trip to World Series (2002 - batted .471) -Had more HRs than strikeouts (2004 - 45 to 41) *VERY RARE -All time great offensive weapon (high batting average, HRs, RBIs, great OBP, great SLG, great OPS, etc) -Intentional walks (2002-2004; 120 IBBs in 2004) -4 MVPs -5 Silver Sluggers
Damn! This was awesome. I forgot how electrifying and straight up legendary he was. The flashing cameras for every at bat, the pauses during games for records or landmarks, the intentional walks (the chickens!). He's definitely a part of the reason I love the game.
My favorite is still that laser he hit off of Finley in the NLCS in '02. Kuip sounded like a little kid and brought out the excitement in all of us with that call.
If you precisely watch his batting, pitchers only allow normally one or two strikes at maximum. That one strike was enough for Bonds to hit a home run. Still hard to believe what I have been watching!
We will never see another Bonds. Absolutely the most feared hitter baseball has ever seen. Incredible eagle eye that saw the zone better than the umps along with that incredibly quick bat that allowed him to wait on the ball longer than anyone. You simply cannot teach what he had and I used to love to watch him bat.
Barry Bonds is Legendary! Both He and Ken Griffey Jr had the sweetest swings of the bat ever! I put Bonds above Griffey Jr. because Bonds was actually intentionally walked with the Bases Loaded!!!!
EVEN WITHOUT ROIDS he crushed the ball so anyone saying his stats and records are tainted don't know what they talking about. He would have reached these numbers regardless
2nd comment. Best eye in baseball history. Will say tho. 20 years earlier he would have been blown off the plate by nolan Ryan and others without all that armor on his front arm. Never would have been able to take that much plate in those days
I got to see Barry in the 2002 World Series I'm an Angels fans and I was very fortunate to be able to watch Game 6 and 7 in person pretty cool though The Angels had the last laugh and proved that baseball is the ultimate team sport as a team full of role players and no Hall of famers in the Angels beat the Giants with the best player in baseball
Not all roids sometimes men gain weight and muscle into their thirties. Not saying roids didn’t aide that but its a natural thing too, I watched my husband do it and he didn’t work out or roid. Then as they age into their mid forties testosterone levels start to drop and without working out men start to lose muscle.
It sucks for some of us he was our baseball JORDAN and he cannot be celebrated. I know he is not innocent but a lot of people got rich and famous while he was doing it. Now they are all so high and mighty.
Well said. He was our baseball Jordan but I’d say the gap between Barry and the second greatest is much MUCH wider than Jordan and the second greatest in basketball. And I’m the biggest Jordan fan. Barry is the GOAT by a Grand Canyon. Nobody comes close.
What's interesting is he looks bigger his 1st year in SF than he did in his earlier Pittsburgh years and that was without anything. You can get bigger by getting older and working out more. To me, his best "overall" year was in 1993. He could do it all at the highest level. I will say that 2004 was special though as he had more HRs than he had strikeouts. That just doesn't happen with a power hitter.
It’s an atrocity this man isn’t in the hall, idgaf if they put on the plaque his suspected 💉 use, this man is bar none the greatest hitter ive ever seen in my life.. Period.
How is it an atrocity if he blatantly cheated to improve his play? We don't know how he would have been without the roids, hence we don't know if he should go in
Nobody will ever have a better eye for pitches to launch. Best player for 20 years. Unfortunately errors in the World Series & steroids will be remembered and not being the GREATEST HITTER EVER!!
Very slim last year in Pittsburgh 1992. Still a little slender in 1993 and 1994 in SF. My guess is after the strike the players starting gaining access
I could not disagree more with people who say Bonds was "the Michael Jordan of baseball." Bonds was BETTER at baseball than Jordan was at basketball. While Bo Jackson is the best pure athlete I've ever seen, I have not seen a better player at a sport than Barry Bonds at baseball. And it isn't even close.
Watching his reactions to the records he broke makes me think all he cared about were stats. That’s cool I guess, but goddam that swings sweeter than Griffs in my opinion
This dude would have been a first ballot hall of famer if he did not do steroids but again remember he was still a very good hitter before steroids, I don’t know really he took those but I guess he just wanted to be better.
Juice or no juice, the reality is he was never found guilty in court of anything. Only court of public opinion. His stats are so gawdy they almost seem fake. Put him in the damn hall before he's gone.
Too bad he took the bait and started taking steroids after the '98 season. He already had 400 HRs and 400 SBs at the time and was pretty much guaranteed to be in the HOF if he had just stayed clean. Despite his attitude issues at times, it's a shame that he completely killed his own reputation as a player with roids when he was already a top player in the league throughout the 90s
