Make sure all the bank accounts, knives and anything dangerous is locked up before you try... I put my wife in an arm-bar and was never able to eat anything she cooks because the rat poison went missing.
Now that I am this early I'll use this opportunity to tell you that these videos actually help me more than my coach! By far the most informative grappling channel out there, I think :)
Nooow I have finally understood how a baseball bat choke works, after watching some matches that finished so fast I couldn't see a thing. Greetings from Brazil!!
Mmmmmmmm, this geezer is definitely one of the the best online tutor’s. Patient, good but not withering detail, explains the various entries into the move, typical defences and variations and quite clearly loves what he does. He also explains things like he’s Doctor or anatomist. Big fan…
Been waiting for this, i have been caught a few times and people are not really open to showing how they do it.... so thanks a lot for this, I will be trying to tonight!
I love this choke. I’ve found that my finish rate has gone down when my opponent pressures forward over my head. It stretches my arms out straight which seems to loosen the grips
That baseball bat from bottom side control is sneaky. I was very new at bjj and my training partner was practically giving me side control, so i took it. Getting to side control i remember i was thinking ''wow he has a tight grip on my neck, but nothing i cant tough out''. Next thing i know he's sitting next to me seeing if i'm alright, because apparently i took a little nap
Hack 3 is the sh#*! Why have I never seen that in this many years. Can't wait to hit that on my teammates this week, then I get home have dinner and send them a link to this video and then watch my neck for the rest of the month haha, great stuff Coach Tom 👍
For my no gi dudes with less flexible wrists the S grip is NOT your only option. The 3 finger grip is GREAT for this choke. Make a peace sign and stick your thumb in between your point and middle fingers. Now finish the grip just like a gable grip. Feels really strong, doesn't hurt my wrists, let's my elbows pass really easy.
Great coach!! I miss your daily videos. Is there any reason that you dont do as much videos as before? However, everything from you is worldclass. Keep it up.
Thanks Mean Mach! Right now, my focus is split between my training camp for masters worlds and another match I have later in the year and of course, my family and teaching duties. However, I still film videos to upload weekly, and with 500+ videos already online, my focus now is on filming my 'bjj system' to make available as cheap short courses to really dive deep and help people's bjj games! Hi there. Yes I get in 3-4 USA comps including worlds and usually 1 or more national local level. I love competing. Its certainly not my life, that's coaching. But its just fun getting out there and competing. My next comps are JJWL Dallas on Feb 23 then Houston Intl Open March 3rd. (-: Tom Davey
Biggest mistake people make with this hold, and I’m not sure he covered it very well, but having your wrist bones in the carotid artery’s is essential. I’ve had guys do this hold on me and I’ve gotten out of it because I could withstand the pressure long enough to posture out. But if your wrist bones are where they’re supposed to be, I’ve seen dudes put to sleep instantly. It makes all the difference.
