TESTIMONIALS
‘Started hitting the moves laid out in these courses the very next class...extremely uplifting to have such a quick improvement in my game’ - Houston, TX
‘I’m the only white belt in the academy doing these moves…I’m suddenly competing at a blue belt and above level…thanks Coach Tom’ - LA, California
‘Some of the best strategies you are going to see for control and submission’ - London, UK
‘The detailed way Prof Tom breaks down his moves into the absolute essentials is just next level for me. This is absolute gold‘ - Sydney, Australia
‘Most of the guys at my Academy, have about 60lbs on me, but since purchasing your ‘Kimura Attack system’ and ’14 days’ everything has changed. I feel much more confident, roll better and the guys on the mat have commented on the same. Thanks, Coach Tom’ - Dallas, TX
‘I know you have your names for your courses, but I’ve renamed them the ‘Zero to hero’ courses, I went from getting constantly owned, to now being completely dominant on the mat in no time at all’ - San Diego, California
‘I use the course material heaps, and just recently put it into action at a local comp, walked away with double gold. No one was more surprised than me! - Miami, Florida
‘As a new white belt, these classes have helped me so much, Prof Tom’s technique, the details, and his attitude. I love how Prof. Tom shows the ‘mistakes people make’ and then shows the correct way of doing things. The only one I have ever seen do this’ - New York, New York
Great videos, great instruction. I just watch them for hours…Melbourne, Australia
‘The instructional saved me big time at a recent comp, my opponent was def more experienced, but that was ok, coz I had Prof Tom’s video in my brain. Nailed it and scored gold’ - Colorado, Denver
‘All of it. Everything you show in your awesome videos are now my ‘go to techniques’. Thanks for your vids Prof, Tom’ - Houston, TX
‘You really have to watch every second of the video because Prof, Tom drops these little nuggets of gold throughout the course. And they make ALL the difference. The only one doing this. Keep them coming Professor’ - NY, New York
‘If I could only be taught from one person, Prof Tom would be it. I can’t wait to train in person one day’ - Dallas, TX
‘Went to a recent competition with these videos fresh in my mind. I knew I had an edge and the confidence this gave me was unreal. Got the gold. All submission wins! - LA, California

I’m glad you didn’t edit out the “mess up”… because it’s not really a mess up, it’s just reality. One thing I hate about slow drills without resistance is that it doesn’t work that way when you go live. Obviously the slow drill is necessary but it’s been very beneficial for me as a white belt to ask my partner after a few reps to give some resistance so I can tell what it feels like in a real roll.

This is a very good demo - last night I took screenshots from another demo of the same move , but when the guard guy pulled the kneeling guy's arm through , I thought 'my blokes just ain't gonna give me that !' But the idea of slipping AWAY from the arm and not needing so much strength is another of those 'Damn - why didn't I think of that ' dodges that I know is going to make a big difference. Thanks !

One thing I’ve been having success with is pushing the arm to the side, while still holding his wrist, pushing it up as far as I can and exchanging the grip on the wrist to the other hand, at this point I bridge to the weak side and already have an arm isolated across his body, pinning his elbow there with my chest. Just lift the pressure slightly and briefly and pull the wrist behind their head more and more without letting their body rotate (use grape vine) and you keep cranking. The pressure your weight on their elbow creates will cause them to choke themself out with their own arm. This only works if you are very strong and are able to apply some muscle to pulling that arm behind their head while bridging. Because I’m much stronger than most in my own weight class though, it works very well for me. Great vid though. Very helpful and I will try implementing these as well.

One question (I know this ain't free coaching) but a common reaction in getting is a lowering of the head to my chest and hunkering down. What's you're favourite response to this. Cross choke doesn't seem to work for me. I've sweep lower belts but on those with more experience and bigger and stronger no dice. Triangle by stuffing the captured arm down??

Great video. If been training for around a year. I do 4 day's a week (sometimes more) 2-3 hour sessions. I'm just beginning to understand much of the grappling ethos. It's hard to understand just how many moves there are, and each move has 3,4,5 or more counters. Which in turn has many counters to each counter. I can train for 20 year's and I still won't know even half the moves.
@thomasryeeriksen8429

Very nice! I have done this combination several times, but oddly enough never had anyone break it down for me like this. Great to enhance the details, i will definitely drill this specific sequence - with ur grips, I reckon they are better (ive usually done the standard arm drag, but this looks better). Troubleshooting: Against strong opponents they often drive back into me even without getting their arm out to flatten me out - i then sometimes use that momentum to get the flower sweep - but it depends alot on right timing and right energy. Any tips on how to increase the success rate on that?
@TheGrapplingAcademy
@TheGrapplingAcademy 6 лет назад
TO get the flower sweep more often stay tight against their arm with your belly and if they defend the sweep then go back for the backtake. Ironically I have a whole series from this position I call the Trapdoor System which I just filmed yesterday! Keep an eye out for those! (-: Coach Tom Davey

Awesome Jamie. I wear them only sometimes for one of several reasons: injured feet/toes, cuts, blisters, for wrestling stand up, when working on my pressure game, if its too cold, etc etc. In this case, a nasty cut is keeping me in wrestling boots during this hot Australian summer!
