Love the videos! just a suggestion but when you explain what you should press maybe put the notations on the bottom of the screen. Would make it a lot easier to follow for beginners.
I thought I was good, because I played the demo with people who never played before.. But I got the full game yesterday... and I don't wanna play anymore ;~;
Forgive me if you did cover this in the video, but I think you forgot about the fact that the P4U characters can "rebeat" which means that they're able to "chain back" into a normal that was already used earlier in a string. This was a feature that was introduced in P4U2, and for example, someone like Narukami is able to perform 5B 2B 5B 5C. If you look at the string carefully, you'll notice that Narukami was able to perform 5B again in his string. In BBTAG, this string would look like: 5A 2B 5AA.
Yeah they are all completely different to play. Main Blazblue has a crazy amount of mechanics... character specific Drives, Bursts, Overdrive mode, multiple ways of guarding etc. Persona4A and UNIEL are generally much simpler (though again, completely different). Crosstag has stripped away all difficult button inputs, and added lots of different tagging mechanics.
Thanks for the vid. Been playing since launch & have had trouble w/comboing off assists sometimes. Guess you need to time it based off which move it is. Been playing fighters a long time, but am adjusting to this game.
So I played the trial because I'm broke, and what I get is: X is your aerial combo starter, but to aerial combo you need to jump on the hit where it sends the opponent upwards, and when in the air, X and Y become the same thing, A is your Tag Clash attack, B is switch out, but I've never gotten any aerial combo above 7 hits
Can someone explain to me what a "drive" actually is. Based off what I saw in the video, I'm guessing it's a move that pushes your opponent back? But I'm a total fighting game noob, so I wanna be sure.
NotAFan # In BlazBlue, every character has a Drive button (the four main attack buttons are light, medium, heavy and Drive). Each character's Drive is their unique power (Jin's Drive involves using/enhancing his ice skills, Hakumen's simply involves his parry). In Cross Tag Battle, they changed the Drive button to Duo Change button, and the Drives have become part of the smart combos (AAAA, BBB etc). Meaning, it's easier to do the BlazBlue characters' combos with their Drives incorporated into them.
NotAFan # For example here in the video, Es creating those crests with her sword slashes is something that used to be done using the Drive button in the actual BlazBlue games.
You mention reverse beating for UNIEL characters, ie going C, B, A. But can you do regular beat combos as well, like A, B C?I I've not played UNIEL before, but I've got time in a lot of other fighters. I can't really try it myself since the game doesn't have a demo for PC.
girugamish _ It is very slick :) I haven’t played this demo yet but in Uniel the standing and crouching versions of each button as well as the sweep counted separately as well so you could get super creative
NeoVejiita damn it does sound cool. I picked up Uniel last night since it's on sale on Humble Bundle, so I'm definitely gonna have to try it once I'm free. One of my BBxTB mains is gonna be Aki from Persona once he comes out, but idk who I'll play for my second character just yet. Uniel sounds way more interesting than I'd initially thought so I might have to experiment with them a tonne
It's a feature of games build by French Bread... Melty Blood has it and Under Night has it. Basically, it allows for two things: "Going up and down the ladder" (Basically, you can reverse order the magic series. To be honest it a little more complicated than that, you can use any normal once in any order in a combo unless the normal in question is repeatable ["repeatable" meaning that the normal has the same animation and can chain into itself]. So B->C->AAAA, B->A->C, BB->C->A etc.) And "resetting the ladder" (The ability to chain C->A in a string, this is the thing that works differently in both games and called "reverse beat" in both. In Melty Blood Actress Again onward there is a penalty involved with it, every time that it is done the combo has a forced prorate to keep the damage in check. And that is the thing, Melty Blood combos are rather long because of this, among other things. Under Night doesn't have that [the forced prorate], if only because the combo strings are much shorter. So unlike MB there is no need to indicate when it happens.)
Nice vid for beginners. I’m not one though, but I think the only hard part to me is the active switching and continue combos for some characters and cross burst to some situations
Awesome! I assume that it's cool to use your tag resources at any point, like if you do ground combo, jump combo, assist, relauch, air combo into super
mini nuke Drives are unique system in Blazblue series. In there respectable games, These drives have a unique ability or skill to burst into combos. in Ragna’s case, his is called Soul Eater, When you perform Damage with his drive, It drains the health from enemy when dealing damage and heals a small amount. In BBTAG they keep there own drives at the same rate or slightly change up the drives.
Not sure why nobody responded to this but it's just the assist button plus the change button at the same time. You can also assign a button press to do it for you.
If you are playing on the PS4 Pre-order Demo, you can do local multiplier, but any other version (the one with only 4 characters) you can only fight the A.I.
Hey Koe!😁 I can't wait until the full game gets released, the team I'm going to go with is Ruby/Mai as my main team and Yang/Mai as my sub but I will also try other characters. What's your dream team going to be?🤔
Unfortunately, I still don't have a pro controller for the Switch and after a while, the joycons play serious hell on the thumbs (when I played the beta on it). I heard something in a prior video about the sensitivity of control on the Switch. I can say that's true for the joycons but not sure if the same can be said about the pro controller. Can anyone confirm that? Also shout out from Puerto Rico!
Francisco Mojica not sure about the sensitive part but id invest money in a pokken pad if you want a proper Dpad(or atleast one better than the pro and joycon controllers for switch) just because its a cheaper option than the 2 and i own all 3 schemes And for sure fighters feel better on the pokken pad, unless you have money to fork over then forget this budget statement and go for a fightstick if that's something you can see yourself using, but yeah.
Rice Yoshi Dpad better than a joystick for fighters then? I did wind up using the dpad more often towards the end of the beta. Heard someone mention that one gets used to joycons after a while. I'm definitely invested in getting the Switch version of this game. A ps4 version would mean shoveling out the 60 for online play.
Francisco Mojica well you will be paying for online on the switch pretty soon according to nintendo but it is much cheaper than 60 dollars, its 20 bucks iirc, and yeah Dpads are much more accurate if you are using a pad controller for fighting games that's just what most players use, the same way dpads are preferred for platformers just for precision. Also the ps4 version is likely to have the bigger online player base though since ps4s are usually the fighting games tournament stamdard and thats just where most of the fgc(fighting game community) preferred platform is, but ofc the switch version has portability. Both look like solid versions though.
Rice Yoshi For some reason in my head, I always thought the pc community held more sway over the competitive scene. But I get the ps4 controller being the better option. I think I'll check out that pokken dpad you mentioned. Thanks for that infk. Tried to scrounge up a bit but I didn't find a lot of discussion on Switch beta that wasn't "These pixels are not as good as these other pixels." Which is legitimate but not my greatest concern. I'm looking longetivity and a fighter to get invested in.
Francisco Mojica id try out sf or dbz since those have bigger player bases but are more complex than this but if you really like bbtag then go for it I myself really like the idea of bbxtag but I know its doesnt have the following dbz or street fighter has, also street fighter has cross play between pc and ps4 thats a huge plus. As for competitive scene in FG sony probably a sponsor i remember they funded sfv which is why our fellow xbox players are left out also ps4 is much cheaper than a PC making it just more accesible, PC also tends to lead torwards more team based games like csgo and mobas. Hopefully in the future cross play is standard so we can all play together, also if you plan to stick around this game seems like a pretty good intro to fighters on top of looking flashy looking forward seeing you around im also planing to pick it up on switch, depending on how the game pans out community wise ill double dip on ps4.
If you go into tutorial mode it'll show you a layout showing what buttons you're pressing. Tutorial mode is available even in the free demo that you can find on the BBTAG store page.
Is Bullet going to be in this? I'd love to play her and Yang on a team. Even though i've never played Blazblue personally... and even though i don't really like RWBY.
nope,i think its a bad decision, they basically forced the simple combo system into the veteran players, they should have maked like on the normal blazblues,Stylish mode and Technical mode, stylish mode you do auto combos easily just pressing a button, technical mode is the normal mode that you need to learn how to do combos and stuff,i find it really shit that they did that, also sorry for the bad grammar,i am japanese/brazilian
i dont know if anybody has already said this but uhh yeah if you end up not liking this game cause of how simple it is and all that you're better off playing the fighting games thease characters are from sorry but not every fighting game has a Auto combo that you can just mash out whenever i mean blazblue has that but only in stylish mode p4 had it to but nobody really used it and under night in birth i dont think anyone uses smart steer at all
yeah but not everybody uses it unless your fighting a pink square and they want to troll you by literally mashing square the thing i dont like about auto combo in dbfz is that it auto corrects
There's a difference, though; in those games, the auto combos are a minor part that basically acts as a crutch for people who have major difficulty with combos. In BBTAG, auto combos are fundamental to the combo theory, so not using the auto combos is just shooting yourself in the foot
Straw hat Pirates Those are the attacks he's doing. The number is the directional input and the letter is the attack used. 5 is neutral with no directional input and a is light attack in this game, mapped to square on PS4. So 5a would be a light attack while not using the analog. 2 is down, 4 is back, 6 is forward, and 8 is up. 1, 3, 7, and 9 are diagnals. Think of the num pad on a keyboard. 7 8 9 4 5 6 1 2 3 In this game A is light attack, B is heavy attack, C is the cross attack (which is specifically for this game), and D is jump. B A C D
I dunno. The game is so simple, I feel it all it takes is a bit of fiddling. Like you have to be a complete noob in fighters not to understand it. Also, where is this gameplay from?
A lot of people coming into this game are complete beginners at fighters, including myself. If you don't need a video like this, good for you. You don't have to watch. For beginners like myself, this is greatly appreciated.
Is this video really necessary? It doesn't take a genius to understand the very basics in an already simplified fighting game, lol. I know this guy is just exited about this game, but just stick to the character specific guides, yeah?
To some people, this might be their first fighting game. Being thrust into a new genre might be overwhelming to beginners. This video is a great aid for those people.
first time i touched blazblue i was a complete Beginner too,it didn´t take much time to understand the basics,i never played street or MK before, you really need to be a dumb person to not understand the game mechanics, its basically Smash the button, assist, half circle and smash button again
Kenzops4 Lol but I usually play FPS games. Using a joystick I'm jumping all over the screen and missing most of the half-circles. Getting accuracy down on a controller while learning combos and skillds and then trying to apply those skills and combos to the right situations is hard
