I never knew this about Cpl. Tillman, I remember even hearing about this paragon in Australia. How insane... Very much what I would expect from the Bush administration.

I think the story broke a loooong time back, like 2010 or so, but the extra details here just make it *_so much worse_* I wasn't aware of the Bush Administration's Goebbels type Propagandist, for example. The *_One_* differentiating factor from the story as I recall it was that I think that it was originally framed as a conspiracy, whereas here it's just blind panicked spray and pray.

The Tillman Story, an early documentary about it from 2010 was in fairly regular rotation on SBS for a while and it's how I first heard about it. Probably still a good watch but there's likely something more in-depth these days

Fucking wow. The whole climate after 911 was just so disgusting. I was in the 7th grade at the time and I can remember them showing us the news footage of Iraq being bombed, DURING SCHOOL. I didn't fully realize how gross it all was at the time, I was influenced greatly by the propaganda. I remember feeling pride watching the footage. It wasn't till high-school when I got in an argument with a classmate after they said we should just carpet bomb the entire middle east that I began to realize just how fucked up it all was. Unfortunately many never had a moment like this 😮‍💨

It was gross. I was in grade elven in a canadian high school then, and the vibe was very much like “war, war, war, xD”. I wish our adults at the time knew it was gonna be a forever war. I’m not sure it would have changed anything, but in retrospect it would have been nice for someone to have thought it at the time.

I was in the AOR at the time this happened, I did extensive research on it because, like Pat Tillman, I also lack a belief in a god or gods so it was important for me. I was not as outspoken about it as he was, but I can't help but think his atheism had a significant role in the fratricide...

I would like to think that Pat died by conspiracy of a different kind: that he knew of the US's protection and propagation of Big Pharma's opium poppies and was going to say something. They are telling the truth about the bastards in the military who hate the U.S., but love themselves, and money; not the troops - not the American people. U.S. troops, like all soldiers, are expendable cannon fodder, a means to an end: making and laundering money and drugs for their country. Those military brass bastards who lie in order to keep the ol' gravy train; their well greased war machine running, should be exposed as the war criminals they are. So these men should stay in the U.S. and exercise their right of freedom of speech. That's how you show your love for your country, you honor the fallen by telling the truth about what really happened to them, no matter how ugly it is. Poor Pat. He never got the chance to repent - he found out that God is real the worst way possible. He most definitely isn't resting in peace - he is not in a better place. That's the sad and horrible truth.😩😭
