This was pretty obvious when they announced The Penguin series was coming out and now September. The Penguin series connects to The Batman 2. So why would they cancel The Batman 2? That would make no sense whatsoever.

I loved The Batman but man Matt Reeves is painstakingly slow. In the time he's put out The Batman, James Gunn has released Peacemaker, The Guardians Holiday Special and Guardians 3 AND soon Creature Commandos, Superman and Peacemaker season 2. Now I know there were strikes but the movie had come out a year and a half before those. I know part 2 will be dope but this is quite a stretch in time.

Your comment really puts it into perspective. I liked The Batman, but it’s a lot of time for when Matt Reeves was announced as the director/writer in 2017 and Pattinson was cast in 2019, then covid and getting The Batman in 2022…2 years ago

The Batman Part II is the only superhero movie I really feel hype for. That being said, IF The Batman Part II doesn't happen, I believe it'll be because Matt Reeves was never satisfied with the script. Based on the delays and interviews Reeves has given, I get a vibe that his heart isn't completely in it.

Why would WB pay for having two separated batman with the potential risk that one iteration can shadow the other one? John's right, audiences can differentiate one from the other, it doesn't mean they won't have a preference. I liked The Batman and I hope they make the sequel ASAP but on the other hand DC is rebuilding their cinematic universe and they want to incorporate batman in it, and let's not forget that a budget for a batman movie is high. Can WB pay for two separated batmen and make both iteration profitable AND successful with the audience WITHOUT one version shadows the other?

Yeah it’s been that way in geek fandom for a while now. In 2015 Star Wars, DC and Marvel were the most popular things on the planet. I think now it’s just become trendy to hate everything. I’m not saying some of these movies don’t have reason for criticism, but now it’s just turned into complete tribalism and nothing else. Like if they hate something that much, no one‘s forcing them to watch these movies anymore. Like some of them have literally let being a negative fan ruin them. I had a buddy I had to completely just cut out of my life because all he did was complain about movies. No one was forcing him to watch.

i'm glad and i hope they don't cancel this version of Batman. i kind of want both. I want a main Batman that inter-connects to larger stuff. But also having space for non-connected stylized Batman on the side. I'd love it if there were more things like that. Where directors can do more stylized visions and stuff that are their own thing, while the main serialized goes on.

I really hope this isn’t true. I like the vision and direction that Matt Reeves in headed in with this franchise. It would be nice to see what he has in store for two more films. A dark Mr. Freeze, and a Clay Face monster would be awesome as villains. Let’s see Batman fight some fun and different characters. Keep Joker out of it. Breathe some new creativity into The Batman.

I can understand people thinking or even expecting a cancelation because that's what happens when new teams and new regimes come into a company. They restructure everything, they fire people and... surprise surprise... cancel or radically change ongoing plans. The ONE thing The DCCU needs...desperately...is cohesion. That was a primary reason for WB bringing in James Gunn...to restructure and reform a cohesive unified vision for a Cinematic universe to rival MARVEL Studios. The Batman II will still happen... but possibly very different from what is expected.

I would love for Matt Reeves to write Part 3 along with Part 2 and for both movies to be shot back-to-back. That way, Reeves would be finished with his run on Batman, and James Gunn & Andy Muschietti can launch they’re new Batman in The Brave & The Bold without the competition and confusion.

I know this will be controversial I personally didn't like this film. To me the only good things about this movie are the cinematography is AMAZING, The upside-down shot in the rain 👌, Colin Ferrell Penguin's performance is great, the make-up on Penguin deserved an Oscar, and Gotham for once looked dreary like Gotham is supposed to be. To me, everything else is mediocre at best. 4/10 film for me.

The Dark Knight is still my favorite Batman film, but this one is in my top three to be honest. It grew on me but I didn't love it the first time I watched. I personally think the first hour alone is a near-perfect, if not a perfect movie in of itself. I, however, don't love the cinematography. It's fine, I didn't like how it was kind of out of focus around the camera lens at times.

It's definitely happening. The first Batman movie I found a bit confusing and it wasnt my favourite batman but having said that I started getting into it towards the end and like where it's going. I think I'm going to enjoy the second one more. Definitely will be watching it when it comes out. I just don't like it takes ages to get these movies.

Even tho Gunn debunked it… I still think they should take the time to make part 2 and 3 back to back.. coz that’s what I was hoping they decided to do in that latest delay by writing part 3 as well and lumping it all together… keep the momentum going with it all, no 4-5 yr wait again, save everyone scheduling conflicts and get it all done.. coz even tho Nolan had a break in between the 1st and 2nd Batman’s this is just nuts now

I love The Batman. The vibe is more like a detective story. One of my problems is the caution with blood. Want it to be more realistic that way. For one of the first scenes, there was almost no blood, but it should have been much more. The vibe in the movie is exactly what I want from a Batman series/movie more grown up.

@@jamesgrieco1101 the difference is those films were retooled not to set anything up after Black Adam and the Ezra Miller situation. The Penguin has been promoted as the next chapter of The Batman (or something like that). Those other films were promoted as films first not universe building blocks or in the case of Shazam and Aquaman just sequels to those stories only.

I hope they make The Batman parts 2 and 3 back to back. If the whole point was to have a relatively young Batman in these movies, the time between movies defeats the purpose. Pattinson is already 38 years old and will be 40 by the time the next movie comes out. On the other hand, it is kind of funny that 4 years feels like such a big gap between movies now. There was a 4 year gap between TDK and TDKR. 3-4 years between sequels used to be a normal thing.

Sometimes I’m confused you just make stuff up. Backlash because it didn’t take place in the DCEU? I’m pretty invested in the nerdy zeitgeist, I follow this stuff daily and I never heard anyone say that when the Batman was being developed. Everyone had already known for years that Ben affleck was out and not to mention there really wasn’t even a DCU or DCEU to speak of. It was in complete shambles and no one took it seriously so I don’t think people cared whether or not it was in the ‘cinematic universe’ or not. The only the you said that is true is the backlash regarding the Robert Pattinson casting.

I don't think that movie is happening. I think they are waiting for Matt Reeves' contract to expire. Then they'll say that he decided to part ways or something. Superman & Lois is supposedly going to end because they don't want 2 versions competing. I don't think Constantine 2 is happening either. We haven't heard anything in a while.

There's a TV show coming this fall and probably ending the year off. After that DC will be all about hyping up the new Superman movie for 2025. They can probably move up batman 2 a bit if they wanted to, early 2026 at least.

My thing is this the Batman film came out in 2022 this next one won’t even start filming until 2025 and won’t be released until 2026 that’s 3 and a half years wait time And my big question is why why so long of a wait let’s be clear what exactly is Robert Pattinson doing at this moment I think because Warner bros is still cash broke that zalsov probably told them look you can’t start filming until 2025 because we’ve got season 2 of peceamaker filming and the 2 Superman and supergirl films filming this year so that’s all the money he’s willing to spend in 2024 Which is crazy but they are still broke at Warner bros when it comes to making these films

@@yedigemagavin1694 listen that man finished the script in 2023 that’s why originally they were gonna start filming in November of last year that start date was officially on the books so the script was done but then pushing it back all the way to 2025-2026 that movie won’t do good these studios need to realize that pushing these films and tv shows 3-5 yrs back will only make the public not like the content because it’s been so long no matter how much of a fan someone is the wait time is just too long

I'll admit I was worried since for some reason now every studio is following the Highlander rule of "there can only be one" franchise. The Batman made money and was well liked by everyone same with Joker so I think as long as they do well and keep going it'll be fine but still DC, WB, and whoever is in charge have a habit of dropping projects without warning so I'm keeping an eye out.

Sorry to say your wife is in the minority, most viewers know that a different actor and a different look and tone means they aren't the same iterations. The DCEU and the Arrowverse ran simultaneously and no one thought Grant Gustin and Ezra Miller were playing the same Flash and no one thought Tyler Hoechlin and Henry Cavill were the same Superman, no one thought that Aaron Taylor Johnson and Evan Peters were playing the same Quicksilver, etc.

The Arrowverse was just one of the examples I included in my comment and it still very much applies as everyone who watched both universes understood they were different. And if you want to take it outside of superheroes, we've had both Legendary and Toho making their own separate Godzilla movies and no one is confused, and Legendary will continue making King Kong projects as well while Disney is also working on their own King Kong project and I can guarantee no one will be confused by that. If people can't tell the difference between 2 separate universes just because they're running concurrently then that's a them problem because the studios should have to hold our hands every step of the way. And Gunn already made it VERY clear that going forward projects like Joker and The Batman, that aren't in the continuity of the DCU, will be clearly labeled as DC Elseworlds to make sure people aren't confused

Absolutely hated the first one & it took me about 4 tries just to get through it, 2 of them were in the theater. Personally I need more sci-fi & spectacle from my comic book movies. Clearly there's a market for these types of comic movies, just look at the success of (what I believe to be another horrible film) The Joker. From a business standpoint the studio would be mad to cancel The Batman sequel. I love movies largely for the escapism. Those 2 movies do nothing for me & its probably because most of it is nothing I haven't seen in my youth growing up in the real life Gotham a.k.a NYC

If it were cancelled - I'd hope they move Pattinson over to just be Batman. Honestly - I did not like 'The Batman' for a number of reasons, even if it's more of a 'year one' film as some people use to try and defend certain things that don't make sense when you know the character. But while I was certainly in the 'really the sparkly Vampire' camp I didn't write him off cause look at Heath Ledger with the Joker, and he very much exceeded my expectations - and would probably be excellent just like Affleck in a better film.
