History: In 1903, the Union Rock Company founded a quarry, originally named Brush Canyon, for excavation of crushed rock used in the construction of city streets-carried out of the quarry by electric train on the Brush Canyon Line. The quarry ceased operation in the late 1920s, leaving the caves behind.

I'm so glad I grew up in Hollywood in the 70's. Got to play in these caves a bunch when I was young. Even climbed on the the L's on the original Hollywood sign. Used to party at the old Errol Flynn mansion site at Fuller Estates.

That's cool, man. The wife and I are going to visit graceland this month on the ultimate VIP tour and stay a night in the guest house. Do you have any tips to share for the visit? Is it worth stopping in Tupelo?

Yes Tupelo in some ways is more fun than Memphis as it is clean and not dangerous.. Stay close to the Guesthouse in Memphis but make sure you do not leave anything in your car than can be seen. They are breaking into cars at the Guesthouse and in the parking lot across the street too.

@SpaGuy Man, so there's no security at the guesthouse? Did I make a mistake planning this? I know Memphis is sketchy. My thinking was that graceland would be better than your description.

I had a guy tell me they walked to a BBQ joint right down the street from Graceland during the evening hours and when they were leaving at dark the BBQ staff said are you walking and when they replied yes the BBQ joint said we will drive you back to your hotel free of charge. Get in now !!!

Hi Spa Guy and Trey, I had no idea that the cave had been closed for safety issues. I grew up watching Adam West and Burt Ward as Batman and Robin so I really enjoyed this report. As Batman would say... " You've done it again old chum".

The cave rescue in the pilot episode of Emergency was filmed there.they added a false front and strung lights inside but the actual in-cave shots were done elsewhere.only the exterior was used.the whole area was filled with fire apparatus.

Billy At least the local government that operates the park I hope only temporarily closed it to prevent someone from getting severely injured till they can get a professional rock scaler with a explosive permit to stabilize it and make it safe to go through again

I live inMo, Raytown, we lived in Plattsburg,Mo for about three years, Burt Ward who played Robbin lived just down from Plattsburg on Rt 116, hes a regular guy, loved watching Batman and Robbin an all the stars that use to play the roles of the Villains, Thanks for your video.
