I love Elvis the performer but the man himself is far more intriguing. These intimate side stories with real people he worked with and befriended are priceless. The historical background of something as mundane as driving to the airport become windows to the past often overlooked. Thank you again Spa Guy.

Talk to a man at a baseball card show that told me he had some pics of elvis from the dome he took in 1970 when he was 12.shows elvis in the jeep and one looks like col.tom with him also.

Hi Spa Guy, A fantastic report and Ron Strauss just amazing, his book is definitely one of the better one's out there I've nearly finished it and there are a load of interesting facts about Ron and Elvis too. And Ron only paid 3% interest on the load to purchase that house unheard of in 1976 when interest rates were going through the roof. Thank you for this report Take Care

Great video Spa Guy❤ I read the first flight of the Lisa Marie was in november 1975 to Las Vegas, the renovation of the airplane was 800.000 dollar. Today that is equivalent to 4.2 million.

The JetStar to tool around in but the Convair 880, Lisa Marie was a flying Graceland to live aboard while touring. Elvis had already performed 55 times that yr, and the August tour allowed Elvis to skip Hotels altogether.

I will have to search but I have a picture of me on the tarmac standing beside his plane in Memphis. Back in the mid 70’s airports were nothing like today. We walked in the terminal and saw the plane. We walked down some stairs and walked right up to the plane. I can’t tell you exactly where It was parked, but it was out of the way… but it had no stairs parked to it… we just stood and got a picture and left. I would have been about 8 years old but I recall it plain as day.

I met a Mr. Chism several years ago that was one of the Jetstar pilots for Elvis (later Fedex). I think he had a T-6 at OLV.

I have often wondered about a story I read some years back that Elvis Re-licenced the Lisa Marie to travel outside of the United States and had also ordered a new plane which was going to be black with the gold TCB emblazoned on it. Be interesting to hear Ron's take on that Spa Guy.

No. From my findings and conversations it was not the best choice to make that trip that is why were actively looking for a suitable plane when he passed.

Yes I have filmed her grave. That is part of a story I did about her. She was actually buried in another cemetery about 1.5 hours away and moved there in her brothers pickup truck according to the family.

Billy Ron is correct back then according to the Timelapse images on google earth the Pittco aviation building and the Richards aviation building were not there and that didn’t change until the 1994-1995 because Ron is right runway 18 R is still in the same spot runway 18 L is now runway 18 C runway 18 L got moved more east back then Ron could get to both north south runways and the east west runway to the north
