So true. I just had Apple replace a battery on my older iPhone. They were reluctant and advised I should just buy a new iPhone. I paid for a new battery rather than $1,000 for a new iPhone. The “new” battery overheated in 23 days and destroyed my older iPhone. Apple said So sad, so out of luck.

This is really bad business, you should have asked that you wanted to talk to their manager to at least get full credit for the value of the old iPhone as trade in towards a new one.

It used to be families would pass down stuff like furniture and it would last for generations unlike how things of today are designed for the trash can

Unfortunately Khalid, this seems to be how it is with most companies now. Cars, home electronics etc., are all deliberately designed to be thrown away within certain time periods. They don't want consumers using old products. The mobile phone industry is particularly bad, with Apple making the release of each new iphone an event, with people lining up outside Apple stores for days on end to get the latest product. It is pure greed. Is it really necessary to upgrade your phone every couple of years? Off course it's not. The issue you've raised about the battery swelling and potentially exploding is concerning and is something I hadn't been aware of. If you were a cynical person, you could say that it's almost as if it's something that's been deliberately designed to destroy a phone, making the purchase of a new phone a certainty. I agree that batteries should be easily removable and replaceable if people want to do that. Consumers are having the choice taken away from them and are instead being forced to buy a new product. When you think about it, there must be millions and millions of old mobile phones out there. What can they do with them? Such an enormous waste which is adding to environmental damage.

Hey, welcome back after such a long time I am happy to hear from you. You nailed it, they are doing this deliberately and they have no business ethics.

Not to mention the security screws that are used to keep you out or how updates were used intentionally to mess phones up

"Apple is a greedy company. Don't buy Apple." *Wears an Apple Watch "You can't change the battery on these old GPS units." *Posted videos that helped me change the battery on three of my sealed Garmin GPS units. Apple seals the batteries in the phones for water, dust and dirt resistance. It's a feature people want. Samsung, Google and other Android phones do this too. It's why they all removed the headphone jack (a point of entry for moisture and dirt). If you've ever taken apart an iPhone as early as the 6 and 6s, you'll find an adhesive seal around the edge that needs to be replaced. Who here remembers dropping a flip phone in the toilet and having to leave it a ziplock baggie full of rice or desiccant packets for 72 hours hoping it will work when you pop back in that removable battery and no water got in through the battery door or under the battery contacts. I will admit I have seen battery swelling on two of my iPhones but they were 5s models and swelled almost 9 years later and were sitting unused in a drawer.

Thanks for your great input, however they could make waterproof battery compartments like the GoPro, and Garmin's Motorcycle GPS units.

First? 8 minutes old. What is the products manufactured currently, that have the “feature” of an removable battery? Weird that an removable battery, would be a “feature”. Anyho, if there is no devices from a premium brand, or a brand that is a mainstream. Is there a device that is designed and is a modern device, not a knock off, or designed, using old hardware which is not really usable for long termish, or such? If there is nothing currently available. Then what was the last product that was available with a removal battery? What is the availability of parts for it to be repaired, and for the battery to be replaced? What is the quality of the parts, such as, is the batteries being relabeled and sold as new, when actually used, or mislabeled with a higher rating, than what the actual output is? What about the software. How compatible is the software with the needs and the other uses, such as the occasional game, or app that would be used by most people, and how much of a difference is it when compared to a current flagship, or mainstream device today? I somewhat agree with the non removable battery, but if it doesn’t have a rating that provides a protection that makes it possible to throw your device in the sink and wash it, or if it’s not capable of being accidentally dropped in, I don’t know, a swimming pool. Then retrieving it in a timely manner. I can not agree with it. I am sorry if some people don’t agree with me, but I am a dinosaur, and I believe that people should be able to buy a stripper truck, with the big motor, and a standard cab, with a short bed, and none of the electronics, except for the governmental requirements. I believe that most devices should have the ability to switch the battery out, especially when they are not of the premium material’s design. There is devices out there, but they have compromises, such as the camera, which the ones that I am thinking about has thermal cameras, and other sensors that are industrial. So, not so much for the average person. That is one spicy pillow that you have there. Do you have Apple Care, what would the offer you, along with how much would it be for the process to be completed? I just found your channel, and subed, after a few videos on Garmin. I got a Nuvi 260W, CAN 310? Playing around with it seeing what I can do with it. It might be understood by most, but could you explain the model numbers, and what models are using the same software, except for the options that the higher models have, while the cheaper models don’t. Along with the models that have the same hardware, but with different software? The equivalent model, will be updated with different hardware, or software, for the next year to draw more customers, or to entice existing customers to buy the newest version of their product. I know the W is wide, and it’s an 200 series? The Nuvi is not the app, smoother looking, software. Looking modern, as every other device nowadays. I don’t know what your viewing numbers are for gps devices, so it might not be worth the deep dive into the subject. But even other types of devices, I would enjoy looking into the model numbers, and other numbers associated with them, and their meanings. Great videos, straight to the point, and informative, with the details that others eliminate from their videos. If someone doesn’t want to, or needs to see a part, they can jump to the point where they are looking for. I give you three thumbs up, good job. 👍👍

Thanks for the subscription, I am honored to have you onboard. Nearly all older Garmin Nuvi units have the same or similar operating system for example Nuvi 200, 205, 255, 265, 275, Nuvi 200W, 205W, 255W, 265W, 275W all the same OS. However some older Nuvi 200 units have similar OS as the Garmin Nuvi 350, 650, 660 and 680. The new operating system and the new user interface started in newer ones such as, Garmin Nuvi 24xx, and 25xx Nuvi 5x, 6x, etc.

@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101I think it is funny that they give “lifetime” warranties to the maps used on the gps devices while knowing that the batteries will give out. That’s not false advertisement but very close

Never buy Apple anything...They do that on purpose, look at the PCB designs... They lost every court case about parts and all...GREEDY as you said.
