Great t see, couple of tips. The higher you are above waterline the ‘more bumpy’ things are! Easier to sleep in the bunks. Practice some man overboard drills. Folding props will definitely increase cruising speed. Ginger usually helps with with motion sickness. Thanks for sharing and stay safe. 😎🏖🌴☀️🇦🇺

@@SailingNohma Growing up doing crossings with my parents, it was rare that we slept in any of the three cabins on passages. Only if someone didn't get out of bed when the crossing started. Otherwise we just slept in salon.
I am very interested in hearing more about the pod of killer whales attacking sailing vessels. I live on Vancouver island amongst killer whales and have never heard of such things. By attack do you mean a boat hit a whale or do you mean an angry bunch of whales show up to your boat and violently attack you. Lol 😂
It seems to be the same group of killer whales that keep approaching sailing boats to interact with. They bump into the boats and especially the rudder. Most boats are damaged after the encounter. Hello Tony. Thank you so much! We didn’t have the solar panels installed from the factory. In a later episode you’ll be able to see that we sail to Gibraltar to buy the panels and install them ourselves.
I saw you were asked how such a young family could afford the Sailboat and take the time to travel with your family? I would like to understand this myself? Also why a Lagoon?
Hi Norman. Today I saw a memory on Facebook from something I posted 5 years ago. It said "Don't doubt, don't regret... Just do it! Live!! Because everybody dies, but not everybody lives. And that's exactely what we're doing, living now while we can. We chose the Lagoon simpy because we plan on living on it for a few years, so we chose space and comfort. Thanks for watching! It was all over the news around that time and there were warnings from the coast guard. Apparently there was a group of 3 young male killer whales interacting with sailing boats. They had damaged several boats, there were even some people injured. It all sounded quite scary and we definitely weren't ready for that kind of action. 😅
Yes seems like it's not over yet, it's always the same group of killer whales. Sailing Calista, who we met in Portimão have encountered them recently on their way to Gibraltar, on April 11. Both their rudders were destroyed. Thankfully nobody got hurt.
How far behind are your videos from where you are now? This one you're in Portugal, but I saw a comment that you are already in the Caribbean. What kind of dog is your pup? He looks so happy but very skinny! LOL
Hello Diana, we are running a bit behind with our videos indeed. This episode was October 2020. We took some time to get used to our life as sailors and to prepare the boat for the ocean crossing. Now that we have arrived in the Caribbean we have finally found the time to start sharing our adventures. Our dog was a rescue pup from Spain (a podenco mix). Unfortunately she was diagnosed with Leishmaniasis and passed away last month. She had an amazing time with us on board, we miss her very much. Thank you for watching!!

I so admire the sailors who make the apparently huge effort to travel with a pet. Tons of regulations and paperwork and costs make it quite a hurdle!

Looking like there's are perfect spot for all those ropes, a large sail pocket just below the ropes,all over the boat there would be areas to keep the ropes neat and tidy.
I don't get why they are not sleeping in there cabins ? Killer whales attacking boats ????? I have never seen nor heard of that in all my life I have seen Killer whales in the wild and seen them next to the boat I was in not once did they attack it. I live in the Pacific North West of the untied States. by the way make sure you get ride of the paper around your can goods label them with a marker bugs like to hide behind the paper swap out the boxes for plastic totes and dry good in plastic not cardboard boxes.
Hi! Thanks for watching! We slept on the flybridge together with our children on our first passages. It was new for all of us and we didn't want the kids to be wandering around at night without us noticing. When we're in the marina or at anchor we obviously do sleep in our cabins. About the killer whales, there is a pod that has been interacting with sailing boats near the coast of Spain and Portugal for over a year now. You can find all about it on the internet. A couple we met in Portugal had both rudders on their boat destroyed by the killer whales two weeks ago. Thanks for the tip on the cans and boxes!!
