Never heard a bear “hiss.” When bears are calmly giving a warning, it usually comes as a “huff” sound.... like when I accidentally walked up on a bear den and the male grizzly inside huffed to let me know I was in the wrong neighborhood.
This youtuber... were they the one who recorded this video? The person recording and you honestly don't know what you're talking about. The bear could easily charge you and rip at your flesh into pieces. This guy is lucky one didn't target him.
@@SpiralSkylines I was joking, but seeing how many liked your comment and the others who show agreement with you, it's funny to me so I'll keep it up, thanks :)
What are you doing in this country that that we stole from the native Americans and slaughtered them by the thousands? Yet you probably own or want a beach house. Could list out the amount of wildlife you’re interrupting there. You probably also feed birds at parks in front of the “don’t feed the birds” sign. What a useless and stupid comment.
Yes! If only the bears would do some yard work to compensate for the bird seed they've eaten over the years. Patrick, maybe you should suggest this to Simone.
Oh wow I'm so jealous! 😍Thank you for sharing this. Just stumbled across this video...and you have a bunch of bear vids. Black bears are my favorite! Again...thanks so much for sharing for what I otherwise wouldn't get to see. Subbed!😊
Jaykob Harvey I was being sarcastic. That is anything but cute behavior from a bear and one should back off if they hear it and see it. They didn't come to fight but they surely will if there's good food there and someone or some other animal tries to block them from it. If they're scared off by gunfire or something like that, then it's a different story, they will take off. But anyone who know about bears will tell you that is not a good thing, it is a warning, when a bear does that.
Trenchant Sometimes im not saying its cute, im just trying to relate it to something im familiar with. I agree they should have absolutely scared off the bears, interacting with them is dangerous for others as well as the bears
Jaykob Harvey Oh no, sorry, I wasn't implying anything about you. I was just saying bears are giving a warning when they do that. I agree about interacting with them being dangerous for others as well as the bears. Those in the Game Commission that have to deal with problem bears say, "A fed bear becomes a dead bear". Or something close to that. I may not have it quoted accurately. There are two videos on YT where each one is about a black bear charging after a man in his own yard. Those bears aren't bluff charging, either. It's scary as heck. Just search "black bear attacks" and you might come across them. The one is a black bear tearing into a white garbage bag in the yard and the guy says, "What're ya doin', cuddly bear"? The bear charged at him and then went the other way around the car to cut him off. They are not to be fooled with. The other one is as soon as the bear sees the man he comes after him and, thankfully, the man was close enough to the house to make it inside. If he hadn't seen that bear and was farther out in the yard he would have been mauled.
I know black bears are almost always harmless but this guy still has balls of steel. Fascinating animals that I enjoy coming across maybe once every year or so.
@@onepunch2310 It may not seem like the wild to the guy recording.but it still definitely is so for the bear, meaning it is still willing to maul apart any human within killing distance.
That bear was threatening because of her cubs. That was aggressive behavior when the bear popped it’s jaws and hissed. You are lucky she didn’t attack you. Life is not a Disney movie.
And that fool just stayed right there "oh be quiet" all fun and games till that fucker charges you and completely fucks your shit up (if your lucky and survive)
That bear is showing clear signs of distress, that hissing sound, chomping her jaws he truns his camera towards the cubs and she move closer showing aggressive signs that could end up in death.
They were hungry or either the guy wasn't smart and was showing fear. When you don't show any signs of fear however, there's no reason for anything to attack you.
Is anyone else noticing the "Chomp" thing the bears do after they hiss? I wonder if that's just part of the intimidation or if hissing tickles their mouth.
Chelsea French That's another warning sign saying the bear is agitated and/or nervous. So it is more about intimidation and telling the camera person to watch it.
I've been watching bear-in-pool videos from approx 6 years ago. People were far more tolerant of the bears then. The videos are sweet and respectful of wildlife. But since then a billion more people have been added to the planet. Way less habitat for the bears, so now we have these kinds of videos. Very nervous, hissing bears. What a sad fn world this has become.
@@laurencurry4528 That is a huge word,"if". The speed of a bear is unbelievable. It can go from seemingly nonchalance to Hyperion way faster than a human response can defend. Ever see one of those slo-mo of a soccer ball hitting a guy in the side of the face (EXPECTING it even!) Well, the bear is the ball.... you get the picture. My experience with bear in THEIR yard started when I was 6 and was daily 24/7 till I was 18. We were immersed in the wilderness 30+ miles to the nearest drive able surface and town, and 5+ miles to the next human besides the six of us. So I learned what to expect from any given bear at any given time by personal and direct experiences. Because we did not have other people near to us, the fauna around us were not trained by other humans to expect "good" memories of human-to-wildlife-that-can-kill-you experiences, so the animals were relatively or totally inexperienced with humans and acted naturally and cautiously when encountering humans and their habitat.
I guess I'm surprised that they did NOT eat the pumpkins. I thought black bears grazed on insects, fruit, flowers, gourds, and such, plus any good meat that might come their way? And there are these plump pumpkins, yet they don't seem interested?
The bear was cautious, black bears are very skittish. Made that hissing noise to see if the man would back off. Maybe it assumed it was his pumpkins and didn't wanna start a fight over them. :P
Dangerous, they are not scared of humans anymore. When they cannot find food, humans will eventually become their food. Everyone and everything can all act calm and collected when they are well fed, but even humans turn into beasts, when you are hungry.
Patrick Conley, from the looks in the video, that was a mother bear with 3 cubs and it didn't look like you had an exit had she decided you were a threat to her cubs.
Bear wanders around yard: Okay, this is pretty dicey, but as long as I just chill there should be no problems even if it gets fairly clo... Sees cubs: ...OK, THIS JUST WENT FROM A '3' TO *HOLY FUCKING SHIT* I'M IN MORTAL PERIL NOW.
I get that you didn't want to go straight to shooting at them and that's cool, but I don't think standing out on the deck like that was a wise decision. At that distance the mother could have charged you and you wouldn't have stood a chance. Perhaps you've been around bears enough to get comfortable but that is a risky move with next to no upside and a huge potential downside. Things only have to go wrong once.
Looks like msma besr wanted to be close to Patrick . Wisely Patrick said no. What did mama bear hissing indicate? Luckily she went on her way. Patrick inflection in his speech mama bear knows the meaning. Great job Patrick!!!😅
My neighbor/boss's steer would get out and mosey over to our large front window, sometimes when you walked past that window, youd get a lil surprise staring at you from inches away, needless to say, we put a curtain up.
Do you live in the air? That's soooo cool. How do you live in the air? Is it like some kind of jet pack or...... Your comment is stupid. You say "before the human invaded" as if you've separated yourself somehow from what you are.
