THE BEAST!? "The Legend of Ruby Sunday" Doctor Who S1E7 (S14E7) Reaction 

Just to clarify for those that didn’t see at the end. I watched Pyramids of Mars after I saw this episode and did some research. Really great classic episode, very witty and so nice to see Sarah again! It’s really cool to me that they brought back a classic villain I know it means a lot to a lot of fans. My theory about the beast and Sutekh is just a theory. After finding out that they are the same actor and reading other people’s theories online it just makes sense to me and I’d like to believe it’s true even though it’s not confirmed. Though the nod to “I know its name, the Beast” and also “he has had many names” feel very Beast like to me. Especially since that story in the Satan pit was left up to interpretation whether you want to believe he’s actually the devil or not. I won’t go further into that here. But I would like to emphasize again that this is a space where kindness and respect is expected. There was a long thread in which someone was being very rude not just to me but to other people. For now I’m leaving it up because people were kind enough to remind that commenter that they needed to stop being rude and this is a safe space (thank you). And there is some interesting fan theory discussion there. So unless that thread gets worse and rudeness continues I’ll leave it up. But please consider other people before commenting and have respect for opinions that differ from you however impossible they may feel. Thank you again to everyone who defended the community 🧡

People misunderstand the "that means you've got kids" exchange as a retcon. 15 was explaining that a timelord having a grandaughter doesn't require him to have had kids yet. He still has, just not the ones who birthed Susan. Remember, we first met Hartnel's Doctor at about age 400. The Doctor has started multiple families, some more timey wimey than others but there is no evidence of retcon.

I thought it was crazy that nobody else noticed the "I dare to hope" line. I hope it actually means something.

i love how the doctor and kate had moment where she hugged because she knew he wasnt okay and was scared to meet his granddaughter and how much it would hurt him. and i love how kate looked at the doctor when ruby asked why cant the doctor know his own granddaughter and how she just let the doctor explain regeneration

My theory is that Ruby is either the daughter of or a reincarnation of the Egyptian goddess of protection(She's spent every episode protecting someone)

Suketh is the Egyptian version of the Beast from the "Satan Pit" and they're similar to the Daemon in the story "The Daemons" from the Third Doctor's era. I believe all the Gods in Pantheons have counterparts in other religions

Sutekh and the Beast are not the same the Beast is a devil and Sutekh although he is technically a god he's also an alien.

Sutekh is a returning Classic Who villain. In the 13th season of classic who Tom Baker's Doctor and Sarah Jane faced Sutekh the Destroyer in an episode called The Pyramid of Mars. Often considered the best episode of the 4th Doctor/Sarah run. Sutekh is an Osiran, a race of beings of godlike power of which Sutekh is the strongest. 7000 years ago, he destroyed his homeworld killing his Brother Osirus. Horus, Osirus's heir and Sutekh's nephew battled fruitlessly across the stars. Whole galaxies and civilizations fell, until in a last ditch effort Horus led 740 of his fellow Osirans to hold him down and trap him in an energy field that prevented him from moving and built a pyramid around him sealing him in a buried chamber in Saqquara, Egypt. Egyptian myth and legend was shaped by the Osirans war and efforts to hide Sutkh's prison. To make sure Sutekh could not escape his prison was controlled by The Eye of Horus, housed in a Pyramid on Mars. Sutekh despite his intention to destroy all life did have followers among the lifeforms that worshiped the Osirans. They hid the remains of his ship and many pieces of Osiran technology, disassembled so Horus wouldn't detect it. At the end of the adventure Sutekh does escape but while using a time-space tunnel to leave his tomb, the Doctor uses part of the Tardis time controls to move the end of the tunnel exponentially further and further forward in time so Sutekh could never reach the end. The Doctor believed Sutekh dead after another 7000 years. But in reality he exerted his full power to 'step sideways' into the Void, where all the Gods mentioned were. Now he has returned. Sutekh is not The Beast, though they do share a voice actor. Gabriel Woolf. But while the Beast was bombastic, sonorous, and loud. Sutekh almost whispers, originally he did whisper because Woolf was in the Sutekh costume which included a Osiran battle helmet, so his head was enclosed with the microphone almost touching his lips, in an enclosed enviroment. Woolf thought he was much louder than he was, but the slight echo and the almost whispered words gave Sutekh a calm oppressive autocratic menace in contrast to the Beasts rage.

I love your reactions, and how you get more and more invested in Doctor Who each time (IMO!). I think you could have talked for double this length at the start of the episode, no problem! 😄 Very much enjoy your take on the episodes :)

The Beast being Sutekh has been a fan theory since 2006, so, I reckon Carlas line is a cheeky node to that theory. My headcannon is that the Beast was the original form, and Sutekh the Osiran is the Beast reincarnated after he fell into the black hole (and that's how Sutekh is a mortal being as the Osirans were, but also a God of Death)

The Midnight entity, "That" was a part of the beast, if you ask me. After sucked into the dark hole, he were shredded to pieces. Now you have lots of phantoms running across the universes, who seek for revenge, in case of The Doctor. Can be that the entity was 1 part of the beast. Now he became many, in weaker form, but still dangerous. It would fit in that case more, Even the whole knocking stuff and everything. Was very devilish!

So I was really mad that Susan wasn’t the doctors grandchild because he has gone through some shit recently, with nearly loosing Donna and then nearly loosing ruby. Like he needs some thing to hold on to like a family re union because Russel T. Davies has really dived into the family thing…..so maybe a possibility for the doctor to actually find his granddaughter? And I think Ruby is the masters daughter….because we have had no mention of the master at all this series and normally we have references of the master early on and then he or she is normally revealed. But this time there has been no mention or reference so maybe there’s a link between Ruby and the master. And if Ruby is the masters daughter then she is half time Lord which resembles to the DNA test the doctor has done on the first episode. let me know what you guys think.

No, the beast or the Devil, is not Sutekh. The Doctor would have known if the Beast is Sutekh, back in that 2 parter episode. The Beast also didn't knew who The Doctor was/is! The Beast is the Devil, the Devil is not a god. He is a fallen Angel, who became the Beast, while reigning over hell, over "time" !! Accept it, you were wrong, they only used the same voice actor, that doesnt automatically mean, it is the same creature. Acceptance, is the first step for healing!! ^^
