Its insane how John dubbed this song “another one of my throwaways” Its literally one of the best songs of the sixties
@shaunmcgee4204
@shaunmcgee4204 2 месяца назад
I suspect that John was so dismissive of the song due to the lyrical content, which he probably felt wasn’t up there with his best work. But I think it’s a real shame, because the rest of the band contributed so much to the overall recording, especially George & Paul with the duel lead guitar parts.
@TigerRogers0660

@@shaunmcgee4204 That's the problem with John. He was so selfish at times he only looked at what HE contributed to his own songs!!

I loved this song from the first time I heard it in 1966 when I was just 11 on "Yesterday and Today". Over the decades, it remains one of my favorite "go to" Beatles songs.

Thanks for this, Mike, as wonderful as all your other Beatles lessons. As well as being brilliant instructional material it really shows how brilliant The Beatles were. To have got that harmony guitar part going when you couldn’t just do endless takes and comp a best track must have been awesome to watch in the studio. That bit where McCartney plays F natural is magical to my ears. Thanks

One of my favourites. I first played this live aged about 16 at a Junior Hunt Ball, which I believe was 1967, probably very badly. I played half the lead on 2 strings and the rest as single notes as we could only have one lead guitarist. I had a 15W valve amp that my older brother made for me in a big cabinet that I made, with a 12" Fane speaker which I've still got. I've no idea what guitar I used but it would have been very cheap. Happy days!! That's another great video and lesson on how to play it properly. Maybe I'll try again, thank you.

This is amazing ! Ever since I first heard this song in 1966, I thought George wrote it and played the lead guitar parts on one guitar using double stops. I could never figure out how he did it. It never ocurred to me that John wrote it and the lead guitar part was a duet. Now I see how they did it….. Mike - your passion for sharing ‘how to’ videos for Beatles songs is much appreciated by me !!!

So much fun to play, also for the longest time I thought that Paul's part was what Harrison was playing but it still sounds awesome regardless. Absolutely loved the lesson as always Mike, still killing it

When did Paul start recording lead guitar parts? Was he playing lead before he took over the Bass, or was there really 'lead' guitar work in those Stu Sutcliffe days (1961-62)?
@MPfrance
@MPfrance 2 месяца назад
@Cbcw - Paul recorded lead guitar with the Beatles in Feb. '65 on songs like "Another Girl" & "Ticket To Ride." He attempted lead guitar work in the Quarrymen but failed. With Stu - in places like Hamburg - where they were a three guitar band and all on speed - no doubt Paul attempted some lead work on stage.

Could you post the bass tab too? Please? By the way, I LOVE how you have the bass booming in your full recording! :o) I've always thought that a lot of songs people love, that people are influenced, maybe without their even realizing it, by how great the bass parts are. AYBCS is a case in point. Another is Something. (I actually think the bass is the best part of Something.)
