THIS IS A POWERFUL EXAMPLE OF JUST HOW INCREDIBLE JOHN LENNONS EARLY ROCK VOICE WAS AS HE BLISTERS HIS WAY THROUGH THE BEATLES COVER VERSION OF BAD BOY BACKED BY RINGOS INCREDIBLE DRUMMING.
I was just about to say that. This makes a convincing case for John being the best rock and roll singer of all time. Of course, Little Richard is in there somewhere
Elvis voice was as smooth as silk and strong as hell. Paul McCartney had this beautiful shapeshifting voice that really could do any kind of style, but John Lennon just had this magical voice that sounded like a cross between you are teenager who just got your heart broken for the first time and an adult who has finally got your shit together and is ready to take on the entire world all on your own. You hear real life when he sings and that is something none of these pitch perfect pretty boy manufactured posters can give you. The reason he was soooo good is because he had a hard tragic life and he poured his heart and soul into his art. I love The Beatles so much it hurts and sometimes makes me angry trying to explain it to people. I have autism so communicating with others is always hard but they were such fucking geniuses that you either get it or you never will.
You rocks guys !!! John had the most beautiful voice that I have ever heard and Ringo is a drummer who doesn't get the recognition he deserves. I love you both so much.
@@CatmanPete wow you just connected a dot I never would have realized. Bernard Purdie the inventor of the “Purdie Shuffle” .. I had no idea he worked with the Beatles 😮
@@CatmanPete I have never believed for one second that Purdie played on Beatle tracks. A group like the beatles, who knew their own minds, who stood their ground in only their second recording session and insisted that they wanted to record their own music rather than have songs written for them, were not going to stand for one of their members being side lined in favour of another drummer. I feel the whole story is clap trap..... there is apparently evidence to just Purdie over dubbed drums on the Tony Sheriden recordings from their hamburg days before those recordings were released in america. But no evidence at all that he played on the groups official recordings.... not only that, but if you look at early concert footage (before the group became uninterested and lazy about playing live) you can clearly see Ringo replicating what he played on the records..... check out the washington 1964 footage, especially long tall sally.... and the 1964 poll winners concert......... I 100% think Ringo played on their records and that Purdie is either mistaken about the recordings he added drums too .... or....... he's full of shit !!
this is so fucking cool I'm sure the full version with guitars is cool too but it is great to just hear Ringo tear it up on drums and John sing he was great at so many styles but he really was amazing singing loud fast rock music
Killer! John had a great rock ‘n’ roll voice… and what is there to say about Ringo that people have not been saying about Ringo lately? Thanks for the breakdown!
My names Ned , life long Beatle fan of 60 + yrs. MAN !! Talk about a rock solid unbreakable welded together but swingin' groove. A a drummer myself I would kill for the way Ringo's hefty ride cymbal washes sound, just awesome. Brother John wailin and even hitting a falsetto. Thank you for this
At 0:10 seems to be the less seen period from end of touring to start of Sgt. Pepper album. John had gotten haircut, started using wire rim glasses, and taken the role of a soldier in How I Won the War.
So was McCartney! Don't understand how some people don't realize that? Haven't they heard LONG TALL SALLY I'M DOWN SHE'S A WOMAN KANSAS CITY HELTER SKELTER McCartney rocked just as hard as Lennon!
I'm a Bad good girl and I'm gonna be like Junior Rock and Roll in is my soul and I'm gonna be like Junior and not behave myself to a certain extent Ahh man if it wasn't for the Beatles I wouldn't have a Rock and Roll Life and Enjoying it while I'm alive
Wow I love this! Sometimes the guitars drown out the sound of Ringo's drumming. Cool to hear him so well in this. Did they not put the mic up to the drums back then when recording? Or did it just depend on the band or the studio setup?
At the time of this recording, the Beatles' engineer Norman Smith used two mics on Ringo's drums: an overhead positioned above Ringo's head and aimed at the snare and a mic in front of the bass drum.
@@Mick_Ts_Chick You bet! Compared to today's practices, that's pretty minimal micing. And they had to bounce the drums onto a track with the bass and sometimes guitars, since there were only four tracks. So the drums got relatively buried. Despite these limitations they managed to make exceptional sounding recordings.
Go John Lennon and Ringo Starr I love the Beatles so much Beatles so much love their music haircut's their style too Beatle music first last and forever Thank goodness The four Lads came to the United States of America I'm waiting for the next British Invasion but maybe we will only see one There is no one like the Beatles once in a Lifetime British Invasion and if it ever happens I'm still a BEATLES Fan Today Tomorrow and Forever Can't nobody ever take their there place just remember that I see their Face cause theirs really nothing I would rather do cause I'm Happy just to dance with all 4 of the Beatles yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
When you look at Ringo when he was with his first band he looked very cool, with the hair slicked back and goatee, then he had to drop that image for the Beatles mop top. Like they all did to Brian’s idea. But Ringo was really so sophisticated looking more so than the others sporting that beard so well. Probably couldn’t wait to wear it again, and that’s exactly what he did after the Beatles. Ofcourse it proved to be worth losing it for awhile .👍👍👍
I wish I could sing like John Lennon. He was THE best rock singer ever. I can't even put my finger on why. He is clear and strong and accurate but definitely not the most neat and accurate singer. Paul was conventionally better and more well rounded but John just had so much fucking heart in his vocals that no one could compete with it. When you heard him scream you were hearing a heart break in real time. Dude was a fucking genius, I love The Beatles so much it physically hurts me.
