The genius of your ‘lessons/walk throughs” over all other RU-vid vids is how 1) you give such great back stories 2) you highlight the little nuances of the strumming/intricacies of how they play. 👍🏻

i so appreciate the back stories, and yes those nuances and extra details make for an exceptional beatles song play. once you have it down, it makes for a good music session w other beatles fans/musicians. Thank you for all your work. you're a musical genius yourself!
Hi mike..just came across your you tube channel. Love it..the way you explain things..just watched you on tge bestles "" girl video""".. loved it. This was recorded. 3 months after. Their 65..shea stadium concert. N their. August 27th.. 1965 famous meeting with the king..Elvis presley in california..
There was me thinking this must be the most simple and straightforward Beatles song ever, then along comes Pachelli to highlight the myriad of subtleties that makes this song so great! Another brilliant expose’ Mike and such good fun to play. Thank you. Btw, I’m off to Perth WA next week and will be jamming with my Beatles loving Son in Law for the first time in 3+ years and he’ll want to know where I learned all this shit! Another new fan heading your way Mike!
Brilliantly done! George’s parts are Melodie’s on to themselves. The sound they got on guitar here particularly George’s was so “continental” I have seen claims it was a Bazouki! Obviously a 12 string acoustic.
Mike your videos are so enthralling, and make me appreciate The Beatles' songs even more (as if that was even possible!). Each video is a absolute treat. Thank you so much. I've no idea how you can hear each part so accurately, but somehow you do, every time.
Yes. Totally enjoy the background info and to learn We're not alone in loving the Beatles catalog. "Plastic soul" is so one of my favorites... and your singing is lovely..
Very, very impressed with the instrumentals and your voice on this track. You do an extremely credible job on John's lead vocal, and the others as well. One of your best!
It's so puzzling how the Beatles chose the songs to perform live. They tackled almost impossible things like Nowhere Man but didn't do simpler but excellent songs like this.
Brilliant job, capturing all the little subtleties that separate a Beatles' song from everyone else. You describe John's playing as "nice and loose, just fun playing". My favorite description of his guitar playing on songs such as this one as "Practiced nonchalance". Anyway, you nailed it. Brings back memories of 1965.
Here was me thinking I knew how to play all these songs and then you come along and show me how it should be played, cheers Mike keep up the great work!
Been waiting on this one Mike . I agree with John . This happens to be one of my all time favorite Beatles songs also . Awesome lesson as always . Thank You for all of the hard work Mike .
Very nicely done. Thanks for the history lesson too, in addition the guitar lesson. Love this song, the album, and basically anything and everything Beatles!
Hello Mike - I'm a huge Beatles fan and I love your videos. I love how you tell the story about the song and little facts that no one's heard before. And your talent is amazing. Thank you for all your hard work on making these videos and how to play the songs. You are my go to for all Beatles songs and tutorials on how to play them. Thank you Mike!
As usual, a great lesson on a beautiful Beatles song. I’m always amazed at how much detail you show in all these songs. I was always a Beatles fan since they first appeared on the Ed Sullivan. I’m about the same age as you are ,Mike and played the guitar since I was 12 years old but I never got anywhere close to the level and proficiency as you are. I love your RU-vid Videos and they inspire me to try to improve. Happy belated Birthday Mike.
Thanks, Mike, well done as always. I was 4 years old when GIRL came out in Germany on a .45 single backing MICHELLE, and my Ma was dancing to it with me in her arms. So GIRL is very much soundtrack to my life and - happy or not - the lyrics too :-) Wodda a Boobietrap that I started with guitar ... tit tit tit :-)
I’m and have been since I was young a huge Beatles fan , now 62 years old. I love your videos on all these great Beatles tracks . You do great work my friend. You and I would get along great in the real world as fellow musicians. Keep up the great work.
nice class as always, love watching your Beatles lessons. this band helped me a lot to play the guitar, and you are being my teacher who teaches the music of the Beatles. So I really appreciate it.😊
Absolute magic as always. Thank you! John was able to generate an emotion in this song which is brilliant. It's a combination of the chords and melody but it creates an effect that is bigger than those two elements. This is one of his best works next to Strawberry, Universe, This boy ah the list goes on... On a less then perfect sound system I always thought the inhalation of breath was a wave breaking on the shore and was the sound of water surging up the beach.
Hi Mike. I really like you "doing" these early Beatles tunes in a lesson type format. The one main guy I play with (I am 67 and only 3 years in) is into metal. I play acoustic. Conflict. I will say my situation is better with my metal friend than without. Always better to have someone to "play" with.
Fantastic rendition as usual Mike! One of my favorite songs on the Rubber Soul album! The pure musical & lyrical genius of John & the boys will never be even remotely duplicated IMHO! Hope that you are doing well & thanks for these awesome lessons! 👍👍👏👏
Great Cover Mike! the capoing on a Good Acoustic always sounds so Good! Oh! 95 here in N.Y. today..... good day to put in the " Bucket List " CD while driving!!!
Once again Mike you showed the hidden nuances of George's subtle yet perfect Guitar part s that permeate in so many Beatle songs. He is the master of less is more in his playing. I think John was never given credit for how solid his Rhythm Guitar playing was. Geoff Emerick ( Beatles Engineer) said he almost never made a mistake in the studio when they recorded his Rhythm Guitar. I would like to Thank you again for all the time and background info you put into these Outstanding videos
al - Thanks. I too read Emerick's book. I think he's a bit biased on some things but on how solid John's rhythm playing was - Geoff hit the nail on the head!
I remember some soap opera dork sang this on some afternoon series when the LP was new-don't blame me I was home too sick to change the channel (no remote back then) I'm AMAZED you can tell when an upbeat is played as opposed to a downward strum! Actually, you sound like George.
Nice job Mike! I love this song! My favorite part of the song- the deep inhalations! Dit dlt dit, er, tit tit tit!! Btw, everybody got one! Thanks for all the Beatles breakdowns!
Gorgeous harmonies, rhythm guitar and an ever present alignment between subject matter and melody. He obviously did fantastic work in the late 60's as well but this is prime Lennon as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for the walkthrough!
I used to perform this song solo and played the two George Harrison parts as double stops, picking one part with a pick held between the thumb and first finger and picking the other part with the ring finger. It took a little while to work out and practice the double stops, but audiences were pretty impressed by it. Try it.
Great. Great. Great. I would love to hear your take on “I’m Looking Through You”. I can play the chords that Paul is playing, but his voice is too high for me to sing along. It makes me sad because it’s one of my favorite Beatles songs.
I can only agree with previous comments. The Beatles are not loved around the world still for nothing - so much wonderful music - pure genius. Thanks Mike great job as usual
