A "day in the life" of the Beatles. This time it's October 13th 1965. On this day the Beatles recorded Drive My Car at Abbey Road. The photos accompanying this video were taken at Abbey Road on October 13th 1965 while they were recording Drive My Car. This is a historical document of that date in history and is a valuable tool for students of music, students of fashion, and historians as well. In this video you will get to see what the Beatles looked like, what clothes they were wearing what instruments they played during the recording of this song, and a little insight into the recording process they used. Very educational and historic at the same time. If you like this video please check out my other videos in the Chronological Beatles series and SUBSCRIBE so I can keep bringing you more. Thanks for watching.

This song is superb. Its stands out even among other Beatles songs. " I got no car and its breakin my ❤ but I've found a driver and that's a start".

That intro riff and its rhythm are so way ahead of its time. We still haven’t reached a point in modern music where we can truly understand what is going on in that intro. There will never ever be another group as talented as the Beatles. Thank you for this wonderful series of videos.

True. It's pushed maddenly off the beat, yet has it's own inner logic, and brings the lyric right in.

It´s very interesting, but easy to understand : rhythmic illusion. The first note in on the offbeat but we hear as it was on the beat. It´s the same effect of Everybody´s Got Something to Hide ... and several brazilian songs. Let me share two of them with you, by Gilberto Gil : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vygp0Gs6_6s.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fZHXpFEX3oU.html

You can and should compare them with Bach. Unique intro, even if Paul bass is very out of tune. Strange Martin didnt say anything.

We ALL understand the intro, whether you see it as a bar of 9/8 or as starting on "4+". It's not hard to understand. That does not detract from the genius involved in conceiving of it.

I wonder if they ever realized how friggin' good they were. Sure, they probably recognized when they had a good song that would sell well and maybe top the charts, but I am not talking about writing and recording songs that simply did well at the time of release. I am talking about the quality of their music and sound. Here we are 56 years later (can you believe it?) and their music holds up well and still has that magic to it.

You do realize that it's called learning the worlds music theories and experimentation right? It's the same thing as when slap was brought over from double bass to electric bass, pedals for the keyboard and guitars began to pop up for effects, the pedals in keyboards evolving into synthesizers Hell percussion instruments like Pianos and Grand Pianos are the descendant of the Harpsichord. In fact, Organs are totally different, they're archaic forms are more closely related to a damn trumpet operation wise! They both use air! Modern electric ones, while technically more versatile still require intense fitness because of the lower pedals
@Galahad1967
@Galahad1967 2 года назад
They knew little music theory until later. They played what sounded right and felt good. Too much theory, not enough feeling. You just have to listen to the modern charts to know that.

Actually the lyric is, "and maybe I'll love you". From Wikipedia: The song's male narrator is told by a woman that she is going to be a famous movie star, and she offers him the opportunity to be her chauffeur, adding: "and maybe I'll love you".

I am sorry to tell you this but these photos are from Revolver and not Rubber Soul. I have a whole book of the Revolver sessions photos by Robert Freeman and these are all in it.

Hi Big Sky. Yes these are Robert Freeman photos, but they were taken on Oct. 13th 1965. That is the day they recorded Drive My Car. Revolver sessions did not begin until April 6th 1966 when they started recording Tomorrow Never Knows. Does your book had specific dates for each photo...I have hundreds of more photos from Rubber Soul and Revolver I have not gotten to yet. I will do a little checking too. Thanks for the info. But even Mark Lewisohn also has these photos as being from Rubber Soul. I will check into it. Thank you.

Hello again Big Sky. I have made an inquiry about these photos to my source, and will see what the response is. I told him they are in Freeman's book as Revolver session photos and not from Oct. 13th 1965. We'll see what he comes up with. Thank you for your keen eye and input. I want these to be as accurate as possible too. I hope you enjoyed the video anyway.

Hi Big Sky....one more comment after a little research and from my source. Paul had a moped accident in December 1965. This left him a scar on his upper lip (left side). In all photos in 1966 and later this can be seen (the scar). In these photos posted from Oct. 13th 1965 Paul has no scar. So these are before the moped accident. That means they would be from Rubber Soul sessions and not Revolver. I am not an expert, maybe someone else can chime in that knows more than me. Unless Robert Freeman posted dates for the photos in his book it is possible a few from Rubber Soul made it into his "Revolver" book???? Anyone else out there know??? All comments are welcome.

@@blindowlvideos5813 Hi, The book is s limited edition and comes in a box with Freeman’s original design for the Revolver cover on the front which the Band rejected. It has a certificate inside signed by Robert Freeman and is No. 158 of 2100. Published in 1991 by UFO Books in London with text by Brian Hogg. If you give me an email I can send you the photos.

@@blindowlvideos5813 Mark Lewisohn’s actually has them mixed up. He has some of them in the Rubber Soul page and some in the Revolver page. Most notably the ones with Ringo wearing the shirt with white collar are on the Revolver pages and John with combover hair and George facing him with his Strat are also on the Revolver section as well as Rubber Soul so who knows.
