In this Twist And Shout guitar lesson video, I will show you all the chords and solos in this rock classic that was one of The Beatles' early hits.
The Beatles' cover of "Twist and Shout" is by far the most popular version of the song. The guitar work is pretty simple so you will be playing it in no time. The guitar tuning in standard tuning.
At the beginning of the video, I will demonstrate a way to play the main verse riff of "Twist and Shout" that sort of combines John Lennon and George Harrison's guitar parts. I will still teach each part individually as well.
One of the funnest parts to play of "Twist and Shout" is the solo section. Here, John Lennon and George Harrison play a dual lead guitar part where both of them are playing most guitar diads. When heard together it creates a nice big and flowing sound.
The ending of the song is really cool to, with an ascending chromatic guitar riff that resolves into a D9 chord.

When the band play twist and shout, we play the George Harrison part(split up) together and turn up the bass. It makes it sound super heavy because there is lots of space for the bass to take over

You have it nailed. The only thing I noticed about the ending was George played the open A String then ascended A # B C C# D , while John played Bar chords starting at A 5th fret ascending in unison with Georges single notes and ending on the 10th fret. .. Minor detail in the scheme of things. You have the skills my man.

Another great Carl Brown lesson! A song most of us love and when you start out I think this will be too hard to write down and way to ouch to remember and then after you explain what is happening I realize I can write it all out and learn to play it. Yes, even I. Thanks a lot Carl. Actually, I have looked at your site and since I was frozen in music so that I think Phil Collins and Mark Knophler (?) are the new kids on the block, so your doing an oldie (how does Paul Macartney look that youg? He is like two years younger than Bernie Sanders and 3 years younger than I. ) Any, you do a great job and at my age there is enough great oldie stuff to carry me home. I would like to see you do "Take Five" and "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy", "Old Brown Shoe" or Beatles, not real sure of name) "Last train before 9:09" Anyway I am glad to be able to support you.

Another great lesson. The only thing I noticed is after the solo, George plays the A7 chord under the “Ahhs”. But he plays the top 3 strings, then the top 4, then the whole chord. If you listen you can tell what I mean

Hi, I was curious if I could request a few different lessons. I've been trying to learn certain songs by the band Rise Against, and 90% of the sheet music and lessons I find just don't sound right. I've been watching your videos for a few months now and I know you do a great job with all of your lessons. If you fifth fret on A, fourth on G, then bar the G B and E on fifth fret your killing fourth fret on G that you mentioned for the D9 chord.
