Here's a lesson on the guitar parts played by Paul, John AND George on this great tune off of the LET IT BE album. 18 pages of chart & tabs at: mikepachelli.c...
I’ve been listening to this magical song since about 1988 and NEVER realised John was whistling the coda of Hello Goodbye! Thanks for those deep insights! Beatles songs are like bottomless wells full of limitless wishes. And they always come true.
Thanks Mike. As soon as this notification popped up, I dropped everything I have to listen to this. It is one of my favourite Beatle songs. It’s epic McCartney and John Lennon’s harmony. line is just exquisite. Ringo’s drumming just adds so much to it and George’s guitar is the cherry on the top. Ironically, I am just watching ‘Get Back’ film again and the interview with Rick Rubin. Is it possible to overdose on too much Beatle?
As always, you do a top quality cover, Mike. Thank you for all the hours that you put into reproducing the authentic sound of the Beatles and giving us all better knowledge of their music through your expertise! - James 🎸
2:46 never noticed that melody was the same as the Hello Goodbye outro! I love Beatles self call backs and easter eggs so it’s a treat to learn about a new one.
Yet another amazing rendition & lesson of a classic Beatles tune by Mike. Just adds to the incredible musical talents of those four lads from Liverpool! Thanks so much Mike & hope that all is well. 👍👍
Just in my opinion,George's part makes this song. His riffs are what we remember. But the vocals are Everly Brothers quality and recall the harmonies of P.S. I LoveYou. You're brilliant, Mike.
Another fun hour in front of the Computer screen with Mike Pachelli and my guitar. Always pick something up if not something close to what you play (well not too close). Keep up the great work..Oh love all the back stories, you should collect all of them and write a book.
Thanks Mike… the mystery I’ve been searching for all the years is finally revealed. Now I can tell my brother that we were both playing the chords wrong… and it wasn’t just me! Haha…!!! Thank you ou very much for the history and music lessons that I learned today! ❤❤❤ Rock on!!!
Interesting-I hadn’t realized there were so many time signature changes. It seems to be well known from the Get Back movie and from countless interviews over the years that The Beatles did not know how to read/write musical notation, that they sometimes struggled to communicate their musical intent to studio musicians when they were brought in (a gap often filled by George Martin), and that they didn’t really have a rigorous or formal way to communicate time changes to each other, relying more on their instincts and their knowledge of how each other tended to play in order for the band to stay on the same page. Given all of this, my guess is that PM did not consciously do those time changes on purpose, and that it probably just happened instinctively as he strummed it out on his guitar one day.
Thanks in advance for your support! And yeah - I watched the final version a dozen times and when I put it up yesterday, I noticed a mistake in one of the chart & tabs so I had to fix it and then re-do the entire upload process. Whew!
Mike, your tutorials are absolutely the best, especially with the authentic details. You have an amazing talent and give your knowledge back to the community. Thank you very much. I just downloaded 4 chart-tabs from the Beatles from your website. Keep on, please!
Another great take on a Beatles song. As per usual, there's way more to it than meets the ear (for the last 50+ years🙂). Thanks for showing us the nuts and bolts, and...gasp..the mistakes😁👍
I cant tell you how much I enjoy watching you play and explain these chords. I have a small 24 track make shift studio in my garage and I love to take what I learned from you "to the garage" as I say when I go to relax. My voice isnt is good as yours but with todays technology I can usually get a good mix. I love trying to make 2 and 3 part harmonies like the Beatles.
Man, Mike, this is so helpful. I’ve never been able to figure out why the C C/B Am section NEVER sounds right. I had no idea they were doing two completely different things. 👍
All the guitar parts, all the vocal parts, drums, what more could be done? How about the Paul McCartney vest and no shoes. Perfect touch to complete the perfect video. Just too cool.
mike, always enjoying your breakdown of beatle songs and i like to play along with you until i get it. i play left handed so i liked how you flipped it around, thnx.
Absolutely, it gets a lot of criticism ( I think a part of the problem is that Spector overwhelmed some of the songs with his production choices - Let It Be naked gets a bit closer but it was such a problematic album that I doubt there is a definitive version ). Several great songs on here nonetheless. It's not in my top 5 of Beatles albums but I wouldn't be without it - I wouldn't be without any of their albums or singles to be honest.
This is not the 1st time that you do a song that I have been playing the last 2 weeks. Really enjoyed this break down, it's funny how for me, if you are covering this by yourself you mix all parts, and seeing how you break it down somehow makes it all (what I play).......-make more sense. Thanks for another great cover.
An awesome lesson Mike. I know creating these video lessons takes a long time but boy have you given us top quality material to work from. Thank you 👍😁
I've been playing this song for decades also on my 814ce! those different time signatures are tricky & I was just going on feel. Much appreciation to you calling out the time signature counts and also I didn't have the Am9. I used a pick on the 1st string too for the intro, but so much more pop using a finger. thanks again for what you do. another fab lesson.
Woah, I've been playing this wrong for years lol. The C, Cmaj7, Am9 section in particular! I usually sing and play Paul's part when I jam to this on my acoustic guitar but I think I played that section the way John does. Thanks for the very informative analysis of all these Beatles tunes! I learned how to play Girl and All My Loving and quite a few others the proper way by watching your videos. I appreciate the content brother!
I’ve always thought the Bass lessons for all these songs were missing in these videos 😂 now we kind of cheated and we’re getting Bass lines .. I hope we do 🤞😂
Superb stuff Mike. I always assumed this was written by John and Paul in their early days, like One After 909. Such a feelgood song with none of the cynicism that had sometimes crept in over the years. Nice to hear it was about Paul and Linda's early relationship. The song has a similar feel to Lindisfarne's Together Forever ( written by Scottish songsmith Rab Noakes ) and I often think of the other whenever I listen to one of these songs.
Hey Mike this was awesome I always learn stuff from your back stories. I just watched you with SRV That was Awesome👍👍👍You have been around so many Amazing musicians Thanks again brother🎸🎼🎹👨🏻🦯
That Am9 sounds dissonant to me or at least fails to blend when I play along with the original track. Need to play with another guitar. I never would have seen that chord coming. Always learn something new from Mike!
Havw you thought about covering "I'm looking through you"? There are some very intricate parts and i just cant find a very in depth analysis on youtube, and just would love to see you talk about it ❤
Sensacional! Todas que vi em seus vídeos ficaram excelentes, mas ainda não encontrei "A Day in the Life", obviamente sem a seção orquestral (mas talvez com o piano). Um verdadeiro Graal de Sgt. Pepper's e dos Beatles... ✌☺
