…HE is not part of YOUR history…Vespucci was born in FLORENCE not Portugal, HE WAS ITALIAN AND WILL ALWAYS BE AN ITALIAN, he only participated in the voyage on behalf of Portugal and Spain….He was ITALIAN born and raised

Il Vespucci fu progettato insieme al gemello Cristoforo Colombo (sebbene di dimensioni leggermente diverse) nel 1930 dall'ingegnere foggiano Francesco Rotundi, tenente colonnello del Genio navale e direttore dei Regi cantieri navali di Castellammare di Stabia riprendendo i progetti del veliero Monarca, l'ammiraglia della Real Marina del Regno delle Due Sicilie. I progetti ricopiati erano dell'ingegnere navale napoletano Sabatelli ed erano custoditi a Castellammare di Stabia insieme alle tecnologie necessarie alla costruzione di questa tipologia di imbarcazione. La nave-scuola fu varata il 22 febbraio 1931 a Castellammare di Stabia. Propulsione 26 vele in tela olona Superficie velica: 2 635 m² Apparato motore: 2 Diesel 12VM33F 12 cilindri MTU a 4 tempi da 1 360 kW ciascuno 2 generatori elettrici Diesel 8VM23F 8 cilindri MTU a 4 tempi da 760 kW ciascuno 2 motori elettrici principali Nidec ASI CR1000Y8 da 750 kW ciascuno 1 elica quadripala a passo fisso

It's a pity you didn't show us more of the ship. My fav tall ships are the Eye Of The Wind, the Georg Stage, the Sedov, & the USS Constitution. The middle two I have been on, whilst they were in Milford Haven, Wales.

Did you know there was a sister ship? The Cristoforo Colombo, was given to the Russians as war damages. Only they could remove the masts and use it to transport coal, until it caught fire and sank.
