@@just1randomboyo There is one thing that comes with that and...it's a penalty to latency? There are a few scenarios that are exempt from this, but having that Activate Windows overlaying your game is gonna, in layman's words, ruin the game's window and always impose at least one frame of latency, or higher.

I’m so happy someone finally mentioned DL1 parkour and how it was essentially useless when you got the grappling hook as point click pull done and it was something that I’m happy was removed from DL2’s grappling hook

@@ghowstcrafter9201 which is player choice and it’s similar to the DL1 grapple hook in the sense it can trivialise an area but I would still argue that the paraglider doesn’t ruin the parkour nearly as much as the DL1 grappling hook did

@@jamesconlin5099, it's not the same. The DL2SH hook is a multitasking tool which is actually fun to use. With the upgraded hook, you can be a Spider-Man and pull both yourself up the buildings or enemies down the buildings. The DL2SH grappling hook complements parkour, not replaces it like the one in DL1.

DL2 is a game that suffered from its launch. But something a lot of people forget is, so was DL1 Both games have their strengths but DL2 will always be the game I come back to play DL1 always felt like I had permanent training wheels on Besides some of the parkour itself being a little janky, the cities never felt like the had parkour strictly in mind 100%. However what they lacked in fluidity they made up for in the interiors I love the idea of going through a building instead of around or above it, and most of DL1’s interior buildings had a lot of character, and that’s something I feel DL2 suffers from a lot I can do parkour for hours in DL2 but after a while the buildings start to feel the same and the interiors feel copy and pasted I would have liked to see more variety in their settings. The map in DL2 imo is perfect as is, it just needs a new coat of paint Having parts of the city be lit up would be awesome. Having floating communities in between buildings that you could parkour through would be amazing I don’t know if I’m getting my point across but I hope you get what I mean. Great video man DL2 needs more love

For sure! Techland should not skimp on overhauling the interiors. Seeing that they've made metro station safehouses more varied is definitely a good sign already!

I find it absolutely tragic that when you activate all power facilities, the city doesnt light up like it did when Waltz turns on the power, it just makes some lights dimly glow

i remember botting up dl1 just to do some parkour around the map, even after beating the story, the parkour was what kept me playing the game longer, with dl2 i think i've botted it up to do parkour more times that i ever did with dl1, it is that good, there are still some things techland could fix like making the climbing animations more faster similar to how e3 was pretty fast when climbing, but overall it is the best parkour system in any game to date.

yup the parkour in this game is fantastic! probably the only game i have rn that i can just get on and run around the map having fun with the gameplay and not caring to do missions or anything without getting bored

Damn, I've been missing so much on the parkour in this game... I've noticed the problem with assigning with PK's: the rooftops are still completely unchanged. While, survivors make sure that every corner of the map gets some love. That's why I'm going full-on survivor in ng+ even though I hate those pricks personally lol

True, however the PK do add guard posts on rooftops as well as those UV tower checkpoints on the ground - makes the city feel safer in my opinion tbh

Well, that's the result of firing a big writer over false claims, axing all their stuff, and suddenly parts of the game related to what they worked on make less sense, and when they try to patch it up, they just redo the whole thing, and they scrap all meaningful changes the faction system makes, except for the one they made the focus of the final part of their early trailer, and instead add it in and half @ss it right at the end of the game, because there was no way they were gonna get away with the "whole new flooded district being drainable" not being in the game. The faction territory system was supposed to be a bigger, more nuanced part of the game, often having you "choose between two evils while looking out for yourself/the little guy" and could have changed the way the game played out. Instead, the only effect it has on the story is whether the Old Villedor Survivors get ganked or survive. In the old trailers, the water tower was originally going to be a PK vs bandit conflict. Where you'd either reinforce a brutal, but well organised regime protecting the people at the cost of freedom, and gain working water systems, or let shady and unhinged gangs run the area, and gain access to a black market as water became a premium trade resource. Meaningful changes that would drastically change what you had available. Individually and later down the line. Now the only notable item is the PK crossbow, as by the time Survivor installations get denser in the areas and actually become useful you've got a whole range of tools and skills that make them obselete. You can hand over almost all of Villedor to the PKs yet if the sirvivors get the radio tower and you side with the Colonel, the survivors take over, with the only difference territory makes being whether the annoying preachy guys who tried to off you, betray you, treat you like a dog and then get angry at you for not taking their side are dead.

@@kinorris1709 Very well said. All the faction choices except the first one are irrelevant to the plot. In my experience I gave 2 towers to survivors (because bazaar REALLY needed water and the other towers didn't matter), and gave the rest to the PK's. During the story I gave the antenna to Survivors, sided with colonel and saved the whole damn city, yet I'm still cursed to permamently hear that "wah wah fuck you because you gave a tower to PK" kind of whining. Shame that the choices have been reduced to "yellow bois give trampolines blue bois give cool toys don't matter what you pick lol"

ever since the parkour update, movement in DL2 has felt impeccably smooth. my one grievance is that fall damage is not based on the speed you descend or how far you fall, but rather how long you remain in the air. for example, you can halt your falling speed by wallrunning, but as soon as you drop down onto the ground, you’ll take a ton of fall damage or outright die. this makes it very difficult for me to gauge falling distance, and it’s made me overly dependent on the paraglider or the grappling hook to save me from splattering onto the pavement. one of my favorite games, deep rock galactic, solves this issue by making fall damage based on momentum instead. you can fall from incredibly high distances but if you manage to cancel it out by grappling or mantling, you can avoid fall damage. very nice perspective and analysis on the parkour! i enjoyed watching your gameplay while you explained. edit: the music and atmosphere are also a huge influence on the overall parkour experience. something i love about DL2 is that its music is much more hopeful and energetic, compared to the hopelessness and grittiness of DL1. Each parkour track is so amazing and gets you in the zone, and the fact that the music changes dynamically as you do moves around the city really gets you in the zone. DL2 parkour puts me in a zen state. I never want to stop when the music kicks in as i deploy my paraglider over an air vent to see the skyline and decaying skyscrapers come into view. this game has amazing art direction. unrelated to my previous points, but you explained the paraglider and grappling hook’s purpose very well. i see them as “transitions,” where you use them to bridge a gap to the next building or save yourself from eating concrete. swinging and gliding on their own are fun, but when you combine them with regular parkour moves, that’s when your experience is boosted to a whole other level

I totally understand you my man, i just started playing DL2 from good night good luck update, i love the first game but when i started playing the second one boy oh boi the movement and everything just feels so satisfying, especially once the music kicks in i just doesn't want to stop running eventhough i'm in the middle of quest.

I love every aspect of this video where you showed love individually for every parkour aspect and what it needs to improve on and the parkour music , I genuinely think they should implement n make more parkour soundtracks like energy building to feel the rhythm while you run it’s very blood lusting and feels so good, I also think that the parkour system can get alittle more of a push too it with more faster n better implemented animations of vaulting but overall love how you think keep it up just earned a sub 👍🏽

Probably the best movement system in any game, atleast from what i've seen however it would greatly benefit from a grounded setting or whatever, with like realistic fall damage and jumps. More moving obstacles would also make it better like the laughable "moving" platfroms currently in the game which move maybe 3 inches and don't change anything about how you go around the obstacle, just make them move like they did in E3. E3 skyboxes are also straight up better, sorry not sorry but the E3 weather mod makes the game look far better. The distant smoke effects are also ripped out of 2007

i don't think DL2 needs a realistic fall damage and jumps, it doesn't really fit to it and moving obstacles would be cool but would barely fit as because you are constantly moving around so quick a moving obstacle would sort of slow down the fast pace of the game. I also stay away from mods entirely so im not sure if the *E3 WEATHER MOD* you are saying is good or not good so i can't say anything about that. And the distant smoke effects are something i do not care since im moving around extremely quick

I'd like to be able to actually have to think to avoid death cause at a certain point it's impossible to die to fall damage unless you just don't care

@@ryangosling3331its not really easy to implement you have to make sure it genuinely functions in every shape and form, check the tiniest details and codes to make sure it don't break and the realism im not too sure but i don't really want a realistic mode for this game. When it comes to fall damage it can cuck you over if you're not cearfull of stamina or your surroundings

@@ryangosling3331yea it may not seem hard to implement but keep in mind Techland is busy with DLC2 and tower raid and many other things about the game so these features that you mentioned have a low chance of coming in the future.

I love everything about this game , its a masterpiece for me I always wanted a good first person parkour game like DL2. I didnt rly like dl1s parkour because its kinda too stiff , but DL2 nailed it with this one , idk why ppl hate on techland , i support everything they do bc they deserve the hardwork they are putting in this masterpiece, and the fact that they actually listen to the community like they need alotta respect

The parkour is amazing in this game, I’d only wish techland would add a more grounded version of the parkour for the players that want a bit of a challenge. Like not being able to jump as high or far, not able to absorb as much damage when falling and etc.

While this type of challenge seems cool, it would barely effect whatsoever because of the existence of certain skills, paraglider and the grappling hook. The fall damage in the current game is good at the moment and doesn't really need changing as almost anything can kill you in the Central Loop.

I'm not hating on you or anything but I love how you guys hate this game just because it isn't like dl1. The game has its flaws, yes. I loved both games dl2 is a 7/10 for me. But not everything has to be same as dl1, even its a sequel. Stop nitpicking the game because its not like dying light 1

I do love how freeing and expressive the parkour is in DL2 but i hope it gets slightly rebalanced for Nightmare mode hell it would cool if they gave us one more mode among the lines of "Parkour Enthusiast" where you don't gain acces to the paraglider or grappling hook at all

Parkour is cool in DL2SH, but Techland have to upgrade it better. For example, some animations look atrocious. Like try to hang on the ledge and look down: you'll see that Aiden's legs just disappear because there is no wall to put his legs on under that ledge (it looks like an unfinished stuff). Also you can rotate 360 degrees while hanging on the ledge, and it looks super unnatural: in Dying Light 1 and Mirror's Edge games you couldn't rotate 360 degrees while hanging on the ledge. This must be fixed.

The current animations of all the parkour moves are great in my opinion and doesn't need any changes. While i agree the legs disappearing is odd, but aiden being able to rotate sort of makes sense because he instantly switches his hands to look over and lets also not mention the fact how flexible Aiden is.

I like the parkour on both dying light games but we can see it's way better in dl2, but still there are so many bugs to fix

I feel like they did ruin some of things in parkour again like they changed running animation which is horrible again, also climbing anims are still yet to be fixed because it is very buggy and Aiden's hands clips with each other sometimes and it would be cool if they added radial blur and close ledge grab also there were some cool details from E3 and 2021 like variations of rolling animations, better far jump anim and E3 and 2021 superior vault animations and yeah E3 also had better climbing animation

The running animation id say is in a good position now and doesn't need any changes, The climbing animations are pretty solid and good in my opinion and the hands glitching out is something i haven't experienced yet so i can't comment. So far i don't think the current parkour needs any changes whatsoever and is in a good spot but having a few animations or features from E3 would be nice.

I am curious how you kept using the far jump while free running in the background. I use it all the time, but I thought you always had to use it after a vault

Its called slide Jump. Its one of the best skills in the parkour tree allowing you to far jump with a slide. The difference between slide jump and far jump. Far jump launches you much more further away and activates instantly, but you need an obstacle. Slide jump can activate as long as you are sliding and if you are quick enough you can activate it instantly but there is a tiny delay before it can be used. And it consumes a portion of your stamina

Parkour is great but map is designed to make parkour more fluid which is good but it makes enviroment copy n pasted which damages other things like story telling,immersion and setting

Almost every interior got reworked, and yea there are parts where it is copy pasted but at least it doesn't ruin the gameplay which is more important. And the story telling and immersion is sort of questionable at times but hey im here for the gameplay so it doesn't affect me.

Yes, I love that the mistake I make that kills me in dl2(and the first game) are due to the game bugging out \ I've run into the same bug for the millionth time, and I didn't go way out of my way to avoid it. I love a game that punishes me for the developers coding mistakes. DL2 is just a hit or miss, either I play against bugs and unhappy or I'm having fun because I'm coping via dementia to forget the pain. I wanna love DL2, but I personally come across too many flaws. And with the music, it's good, but not what Techland should've gone for. I think it could've been like the first game, but of course with new songs tailored to DL2, while not demolishing Dying Lights style. DL2 is nothing more than a poor excuse for sequel, and sadly that's how I feel. Feels like we'll never really have a Dying Light 2. But of course, that's just my opinion. Edit \ conclusion: I like dl2, and the parkour. I and my perfectionist brain see errors and things that can be improved and it kills me that nothings being done about it.

I disagree to some of your point, DL2 in my opinion is not a sequel that is a complete let down or in any way a disappointment, sure it had a rough start but years later it has drastically improved, The parkour is far superiour and more fleshed out than the first game, reason i say this is that DL1's parkour is very stiff. Meanwhile here you feel more flexible with your movement. The purpose of a sequel is to be far different than the first game or in some way take that mechanic and improve it and thats what Techland did do with DL'2s parkour mechanic .

@@Spectre-pj4dj they will fix it sooner or later, the fov doesn't really affect me that much and the gritty is a filter i don't really use so i can't comment on it. But i know they will fix it.

@@just1randomboyo well definitely use it when it’s fixed and it may blow you away and the fov is bugged trust me if you look at videos before the fire arms update you can definitely see a difference it’s way more zoomed in now even on 72 fov

I disagree. The problem i had with DL1 parkour is that it felt stiff and far too easy and it was somewhat boring to me. In DL2 it feels far more smooth as well as the movement.

LMAO, i played it, and its so bad the city is so empty, when you stop you have to wait like 5 seconds to even start running, the parkour is so heavily dependant on the grappler and long jump that its really fricking slow when not using them, its just bad.

The glider is far slower than performing parkour. Mainly because of me constantly spamming slide jump and far jump, If you have enough skill and knowledge you can definitely go way faster than a glider.

i have an old gpu called amd rx 5500m on my budget laptop pc but i use edium settings and get insane graphics with around 60 fps but my amd software has some issues so my integerated gpu of my cpu ryzrn 5 5600h is out of customization but yet that customizing in software less worth than the quality i get
