The Beauty of The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse 

I watched it today, needless to say I cried so much. I can't even explain why, it was such a beautiful and meaningful story. It explained such simple concepts, as you said, I felt like it touched my inner child. I plan on reading the book as well as soon as possible

I believe the film is about growing up. The boy is the author as a child. Lost and aimless but looking for home. A place he belongs and is happy. The world is empty until the mole arrives. Childhood wonder and innocence. The mole equates happiness to cake. It’s simple the way a child would describe happiness. The fox darkens the boys perception of the world. It’s the first reality check everyone experiences. The world isn’t sunshine and rainbows. It’s a dark and grueling place if you allow it. The fox is the darkness everyone harbors once we lose our innocence. Its the negativity we all have inside that we often choose to neglect, hence the foxes reluctancy to speak its mind. The horse is adult maturity. It’s wise and loving. It’s a lifetime of experiences that protects the boy, mole, and fox without neglecting any. It grows it’s wings, unweighted expression, when the child reminds him to be himself. Once they reach the boys idea of a home/ happiness he realizes he had happiness within him all along. All he needed to do was accept every aspect of himself. 😊

"Nothing beats kindness, it sits quietly beyond all things" Such a simple little quote that i think I'm gonna remember forever thanks to this little film.

the mole had an arc when helping the fox imo having to get through instictual fear to help something that a predator originally is an insane feat.

I wish they would make this film free… to help all the kids struggling with mental illness. Right now there are more kids than ever. It looks lovely but so many do not have Apple TV and cannot afford it. 😞

I cry because this feels like home. Poignant. The brush stroke is simple but pretty. The whiteness make things feel desolated but yet warm. And the voices! The best voice actors I ever heard.

As somebody who often worries about rejection and overthinking. Animations like this, though simple, really do speak to me dearly. For something so simple, it covers really heavy topics in such tactful and graceful ways that you can get that it could genuinely save people's lives and help them rediscover what made their lives as children so much happier. When I started university a few months ago, I didn't think I was going to be liked or be accepted for who I was. Keeping in mind that I went into the tenure having given help to another person I was very close to for nearly 2 and a half years, until they suddenly left my life without any explanation and I felt really betrayed. But now, I'm really enjoying my time at University and I've got good friends and classmates. It also helps me realise that one doesn't need a million admirers, just the ones who accept you dearly as a friend. This wonderful animation will be one of the first things I go to whenever I feel sad, lost and alone. This genuinely will help people.

😂 "well the mole is just the mole" he is not only the most based character but he loves genuinely. He grounds all the characters and is the anchor of the story. My favorite is the Fox. He starts hateful but by the end is changed by love and companionship. The boy has the hero journey, the horse is finding his courage but the Fox is the story of redemption. Great book, great film

Agreed. The Mole is the BEST character. And he does have a character arc - one in which he goes from wistfully thinking about what could be (having cake), to actively fighting for what he wants (chasing after the cake in the end credits), to being a happy little fuzzy football who's finally got what he always wanted (cake).

Saw this today with my 27 yr old son. I was crying the whole time. Such a sweet and poignent story.

I feel each character plays a part in fear and insecurity. However they also seem to show a very positive side The horse is different cause of its wings. Afraid to be rejected. But finds comfort in being different when he meets the right friends. The Fox says he never had anyone to hear him out. Nobody listened. And found love when given the time and patience. The Boy is lost, wants to find a home, be loved. The Mole loves cake (and the end credits has a funny part) This movie plays a important role for anyone that watches it. What I got from it was something that stuck with me. For anyone that reads this, dare to ask help. Know you are loved. Know it is okay to make mistakes. Know it will always get better. Know you can find happyness. For anyone that read this, I wish you the very best. ❤

This reminds me of the little prince

This is the best animated short film I ever seen in my life. 🤩👏🤩🤩

Loved it from first watch. I'm hooked. All of it is excellent - the artwork, the characters, the dialogue, the music.

I ugly cried by the end of watching this film. It was so beautiful and it really did make me feel warm and fuzzy in the most heartbreaking but best way. And I cheered when the boy decided to stay with his friends. So many times in fiction, the found family almost always go their seperate ways in the end, and it was really refreshing and relieving to see that this story did not follow that same formula. I wanted this family to STAY together and was so incredibly happy when they did. I also love the fact that the main animal characters were characters that are either almost never seen in media, characterized as "bad guys", or are just not as appreciated as they should be in stories. You almost never see a mole, fox, or horse get to be main characters, so it was so nice to see these amazing animals be appreciated and given kindly characterizations. If this film doesn't/didn't win an Oscar, I'm rioting.

I am hooked in love with Boy mole fox horse, literally I love pets, nature, the nurturing of all 4 in their tenderness display of true affection in their display of innocent love & admiration . My ❤ & soul are mending, as I am getting back to my own innocence ,helping me getting over betrayals, heartbreaks, even the grieving of the loss and loneliness of losing my sweet Mom, who became my best friend and my Dad. So I love it so happy I found this treasure .

Wow the animation looks beautiful!

The story is simple and most of the dialogue is composed of important life advice that we so often forget and need to be reminded about The animation, performance and pacing however elevates it to a whole new level that makes the viewers emotional. Definitely a new favorite film of mine

Brilliant analysis! I haven't seen it yet but been watching the shorts and its already so impactful 💗 Winnie the Pooh was exactlyy thoughts too! Even Horse reminds me of Eeyore, (my fave ❤️) However the this tale still holds its own energy. It also kind of reminds me of a book i read as a kid about a lost polar bear, similar face animation and cold ambience. Cant wait to watch it

Beautifully illustrated & written with such priceless wisdom I fully understand why it has been 'made into a film'. Either way, you need to check it out & share its beauty.

Iv never seen anything that got me so deep in my life it was simple but perfect at the same time my upbringing was tough and my mental health in turn is completely trash, this might be speaking to my damaged and hurt inner child I felt everything that was said I just wish I could think about them positively instead of them keeping my spirit in a cage, I love the fox, I can talk alot to the people in comfortable with but 'I often feel I have nothing interesting to say' I'm learning to be loved and I keep to myself but I'm soul and heart longs to be apart of a loving family I can kind of relate to all of them at some stage In the childhood but I dont have people to cuddle up to threw the storms and find a "home" until afew years ago we I found my soulmate and we had our baby boy they make life easier and happier but they will never fix the pain ill carry for the rest of my life, without them I wouldn't be able to fight it alone anymore.

I will never see this again I cannot stop crying at my age sorry

This was one of the most important movies I've seen

I have not seen the movie. But i have read the book just now and it was amazing. I love it that it is one of my favorite books. I think the saddest part was that when the boy did not believe himself that he wouldn't ever find a home but the fox said he did. i cried for that part

I haven't watched the movie, i do have seen a clip when the horse reveals it is able to fly but has hidden this away because of the jealously of other horses. And while its great for the horse to find a safe space to fly again....i identify more with the other horses. Talentless. Useless. Unable to ever amount to anything or ever be loved. I dont want to force the horse back into hidding, i wosh i could also get wings, my very own. And be important, be useful, have some kind of talent. But i dont and never will. I see this wave of positivity towards autism, ADHD, ect, and im glad they get it. But i also feel alone and envious, becauss while they have their issues to overcome, they also have things to be celebrated about them that comes together with thoses issues. Their cleverness, their interesting personalities, their passions, their ability to work so much as long as they love something...... i get similar hardship, and none of the good sides. None. Just hardships. And just hatred. And just uselessness. And im not even offered the help I'd need to be able to leave so that more winged horses can take my place, my home, my food, my friends, my familly, my ressources, that are clearly wasted on me. Im a talentless wingless horse, that doesn't even have the talent needed to leave its place for a winged horse to take.

I've not seen this animated short, but it looks as charming and heartwarming as it sounds. I have one for you though, an anime short called The Dog and the Boy. It's more of an animated music video, but the story is a tear-jerker and based on Hachi.

It's very pretty, but I can't shake off the feeling that they're all trapped in Purgatory. There's no way a small child wearing just a jumper would survive in that weather without food or shelter for that long.

The whole time I think the movie is about a boy lost in the wilderness dying of hypothermia, hallucinating of all these talking animals. He sees a bit of hope with the lights which are inferior mirages btw (same as a man in a desert seeing an oasis in the distance) and struggles to go there with his imaginary friends but succumbs to cold. At least with all this talking animals which are just by products of his brain shutting down, he finds peace in his death.

So what? You just go on your phone or do whatever when your chick wants you to check out her interest in something? You made it seem like you've no interest in your gal's interests, bru.
