This was 1979. Listening to it takes me back to the 1st time I ever heard it. I was 15 years old. I was sitting in our living room floor watching them sing this song on TV. It was so emotional. I was crying, tears streaming down my face, until Daddy came in to the room and told me to cut it out or he would change the channel.
this was released later part of the '70's, I was born in the 50's and love all the various sounds of the Bee Gees over the decades they have been making music professionally since 1958, but singing together since they were little kids.
I WAS BORN IN THE 60'S, THIS SONG CAME IN 70'S, WHEN THE AFROS, BELL BOTTOMS, PRINTED SHIRTS, WITH THE BUTTERFLY COLLARS, AND PLATFORM SHOES, THIS SONG CAME OUT IN THE DISCO ERA! HOUSE PARTIES, BACK YARD BARBARQUES, SOUL TRAIN, SKATING RINKS, SO MANY MEMORIES OF LOVE, AND THE TEARS OF JOY, THIS SONG GET IN YOUR SOUL!😍😍😍
Actually, this song was released in 78. I drove 60 miles from my Army base to watch this concert live with my girlfriend (now my wife) the night before I left for Germany. This is a live performance for UNICEF. Hard to believe that Barry just learned he could sing in falsetto 4 years prior to this. Also, if you ever listen to their song "Tragedy"..... The explosion you hear is also Barry making that sound into a microphone ;)
Growing up in the 70's, there is no better time, BeeGees on of my all time favorites, can't get enough. Thanks for the reaction, Barry's voice is insane!
Barry Gibb had one of the most amazing falsetto's, I've ever heard, & what makes it so unique, is that in his falsetto, he also used his vibrato, which is very rare....so glad you liked it, & great reaction!!!
Very nice reaction video! Bee Gees fun fact... what do these 3 massive #1 hit's by the Bee Gees ( Too Much Heaven, Tragedy & Shadow Dancing) all have in common? Not only were they all #1 hits from 1979 but they were all written on the same afternoon! it's crazy when you even think about how talented these 3 brothers were!! The harmonies & Barry's falsetto are second to none! There will never be another group like this again........EVER!
Sadly, Barry Gibb is the only one left from the Gibb brother's. Such a talented group the Bee Gee's, in fact all 3 brother's have falsetto vocal range. The group deserved better recognition for all their singing accomplishments. They didn't deserve to be lumped in with the Disco era because there sound was much broad. Thankfully the Bee Gee's music will continue live on for future generations to enjoy.
I like your reaction to seeing Robin and Maurice. It's both happy and sad to see them; happy because the three of them are together making that fabulous Harmony and sad because they're no longer with us. Miss hearing their wonderful sound, the three of them could still be making fabulous music if Maurice and Robin hadn't passed. I miss them.
Just wanted to say i was an 80's kid too. You seem like such a beautiful person inside and out. The 80's what a great time to be alive in this world. wish we all could go back. Love the Bee Gee's when music was music.
They are unique. No one before or since has been able to duplicate their style. Another unique singer that is contemporary is BOB SEGER. THEY BOTH CREATED THEIR OWN SOUND.. Play turn the page (RADIO VERSION) and enjoy one of the best storytellers of the 70s
I’ve been listening to The Bee Gees forever! Grew up with them, so many great times, memories of better times, hanging out with friends, no cares, just peace and love! Their music touches your heart and soul
This song was initially released in 1978, the same year I met my husband. Our daughter is a child of the 80s and says she was born in the wrong era because the music we raised her listening to is so great, the 60s. 70s up to the mid-80s, all before she was born. I suggest you listen to it over again because you paused during one of the highlights in which Barry sings 5 notes, each one higher than the last. The less pauses the better, as it breaks up the continuity of the songs and that is important to their overall impact. Waiting to comment till the song is over gives the listener the full experience.
I am 73 and I have witnessed music since the fifties and as far as I am concerned, and I am a music "nut", great music died at the end of the 80s, which is a shame but then again, look at the world today. Back in the 50s thru the 80s life was carefree, except my tour in Vietnam, and I feel sorry for my children and grandchildren and great grandchildren who have to live in todays world. They will never know how it used to be. Very sad, very sad!!!
You had to have been a 50's or 60's baby to begin listening to their music. I was born in 1955. For me, the violins are an excellent addition to their voices. There is another version of the same song. They have on silver tops, and their faces are surrounded with a purple silhouette light. Barry will have you mesmerized with his staring into the camera. He knew just how to grab your attention! (My favorite was Maurice.) The video is 'Too Much Heaven - UNICEF (All proceeds were donated to the organization that has social programs for children around the world.)
You didn't just have to be in the 80s to get addicted to the Bee Gees. I was in my 40s in the 80s but i remember being a Bee Gees fan in the 60s. Now I'm in my 80s myself.. *lol*
My sister! I'm an 80's kid myself & I honestly & truly miss that decade! We're talking about when guys used to dress up with the silk shirts, not too big rope chains with the Mercedes or dollar sign pendants. Not to mention the nugget watches, Kangol hats & Balley's shoes to match & smelling very nice! Also knowing how to talk to a woman, because the love songs of that era taught us how to! Trust me sister! The feeling is quite mutual! Well anyway! Here's a good track for an ever lasting memory: BETWEEN THE SHEETS by THE ISLEY BROTHERS! DO ENJOY!!
@@TysheenOrane I'm definitely 💯 on that! I'm also noticing alot of the younger folks, sincerely loving our generation of music. Some actually said that our music is definitely better than what they're listening to nowadays & that they wished they'd grown up in that time period! JBLETHAL TV & JAYVEE TV is just a couple of them that really loves, appreciate & spreading the sounds not only of our generation...but also of the 50's, 60's & 70's! & Most times are very surprised by the beautiful harmony, melody & lyrical content of these wonderful classics! Anyway! Keep those smashing hits coming! ☮️
Yep. You're right. It was more care-free in the 70s. Everybody was freer to be themselves, do there own thing. And everyone was cooler with each other. It was your "style". The Bee Gees had their own style that was different then the next. It's hard to find copycats in the 70s
My voice was almost exactly the same as the Bee Gees, I would sing this song every morning in the shower, after a couple of months I started to get really bad headache's, so I went to the doctor's and found out that my underpants were four sizes too small, I now sound exactly the same as Barry White.
You are exactly right we just enjoyed all the good music enjoy each other had a great time it was a good time to be a teenager growing up. I think we probably would do a service to the younger generation by letting them hear some of this music Of the 60 70 and eighties.. Just to see the reaction and what they think about it
This song was sung in the Mid to late 70's. The BeeGees ruled the radio waves from the early 70's thru the early 80's. They made one or 2 albums in the 80's and made albums in the 90's and early 2000's. Check out their songs Fanny Be Tender-Nights On Broadway-Don't Throw Are Love Away-Jive Talking-Dancing.☺
I DO IM STARED TO LEASEN THIS WONDERFUL SONG THE BIGINIG WHEN THE PURE AND RADIO RADIO ON PREMIUM ON 1967. SO IM STILL LEASEN LONG TIME AGO CUZ IM 66 OLD AND LEASEN 50s60s 70s 80s the best. Popular TITULOS FRON AL MUSIC ROCK AND ROLL SOUL CLASSIC EVERYTHING ....
lol great reaction! Yah mom and dad, played BEEGEES all the time, they are " GIANTS'. THE CARPENTERS TOO ! BTW,... I MISS THE 80'S AND 90'S... TOO SWEETIE THESE KIDS JUST DON'T KNOW. WE HAD IT BETTER!
OMG YES LOVE LOVE THE BEE GEE'S! WHEN I SEE THSE REACTIONS I WONDER WHY NOBODY MENTIONS ANDY GIBB? HE WAS SO POPULAR IN THE 80'S AND A BEAUTIFUL VOICE BARRY WROTE ALL HIS SONGS AND HE PASSED AWAY AT THE EARLY AGE OF 30... BARRY TALKS ABOUT ALL HIS BROTHERS PASSING AWAY AT A TIME WHEN THEY WERE NOT GETTING ALONG EACH OF THEM THAT IS SO SO SAD! -------------- ANDY GIBB SANG - I JUST WANT TO BE YOUR EVERYTHING -- SHADOW DANCING -------WAITING FOR YOU ----
When I hear this song, it reminds me of shopping. In the 80's, this is one of the tracks that often played over the speakers in shopping malls and department stores. I assume because of its calming, feel-good effect to put shoppers in the mood to buy stuff.
I just love the way you get so into it. You ooze passion lol The Gibb brothers were bloody talented. My favourite Gibb bro is Robin. He was a bit of a dark horse with vocals. If you get a chance, listen to one of their later hits - For whom the bell tolls
Thanks, Tysheen - I really enjoyed your emotional reaction - I'd love it if you listened to some of their earlier stuff - although Barry was recognized as the "lead" vocalist for most of their music, I always loved Robin's soft, emotional voice -- and some of those old, really "cheesy" videos... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jrg1UAixGaM.html
Same here except that I was a mid 40's baby. I cut my teeth on doo wop and pop, and burst into my prime teen years with the British Invasion. I stopped following contemporary music about the mid-80's, but replay the thousands of great songs from "back in the day."
@@woodysthoughts4032 Grunge killed hair metal which I actually enjoyed. Many of those bands were backed by really talented guitar players, and with the death of that music, the guitar has not enjoyed the dominance it had held in rock music since. And whatever happened to real drums? It seems all you hear anymore is those phony sounding drum machines.
Two of his brother (Robin singing with him here and their younger brother Andy Gibb) they were great but few singers had the control to maintain those notes like Barry had.
The first thing that comes to my mind is that this song is NOT from the 80's. This song was released in 1978 and was written specifically to help the nonprofit organization UNICEF. The Bee Gees donated the song rights to the organization, which has raised over 13 million dollars since.
Beautiful song. Tho until recently, hadn’t heard this one. Please react to Celine Dion “Immortality” with Bee Gees. This song was written for Celine by them. Another amazing song!
Just looking through your page. People including me dident give the Bee Gees what they deserve becase the disco fell away 70 babie love this type. One that you have got to hear is Stevie Ray Vaughan"Teexas Flood" at ElMacombo you are missing out.
Here are some facts about the Bee Gee's: 1.Barry Gibbs is 2 years older than I am. I grew up in this Era called DISCO. 2.Barry was the lead singer and his brother's were mostly backup, but all 3 were GREAT. 3.This was Family Harmony at its best. (Three voices that sounds like one). 4.They were a normal band until they tried something different. 5.It was an accident, they decided to sing "FALSETTO" for fun. 6.The people loved it, and DEMANDED more. 7 This became their unique, signature sound, and trademark that shot them to the top. 8. Barry was the lead singer, Robin and Maurice HARMONIZED ALSO IN FALSETTO. 9.Their unique sound that made them famous. 10 If you listen close you can hear the Falsetto of all 3. 11. It became their standard. The Disco Era was dying at this point. 12. The Bee Gee's Music, breathed new life into the Disco Era. 13, That kept DISCO alive and popular for many more years. 14. The Bee Gee's wrote 1030 songs in their life. 15.They wrote many songs, for other famous artist, who made those songs famous. 16.They broke many long standing records, in their lifetime. 17. They wrote all of their own music. 18. And all 3 played instruments themselves. 19. They would be honored that a new generation is hearing their music. 20. Feel free to check out my facts for yourself.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t as much of this in the 80s… as popular as music like this was in the 70s, especially disco which featured The Bee Gees, there was a large backlash towards the end of the 70s against disco music. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disco_Demolition_Night
