This was a 2 year experiment to get Sheduer to showcase his skills and be a first round picks. Almost all of your freshman that you recruited have transferred. When you build a program, you develop the your young kids and build them for 3 years. This is not happening. All he is doing is swapping backups. If he was truly building a program he would have focused on his recruits and just filled in the blanks with transfers. But his son had 2 years to play so this was the focus: Showcase his son...

I was born and raised in Boulder, so I have been following the team for a long time. There are criticism of Deion that are completely legitimate, but I didn't hear any of them in this segment. Van is acting like Colorado got killed in conference last year, and that's just not true. They lost 42-6 to Oregon and 56-14 to Washington State. Other than that, every game was within one score. Compare that to the previous year when they went 1-11 with an AVERAGE margin of defeat of 30 POINTS! Yes, it's messy. And yes, I would've loved to see them win some of those close games (the Stanford loss hurt the worst), but I can't tell you how much nicer it is to see a team go and be competitive rather than be one of the worst teams in the entire country. The kids that were on the team before he came in had to transfer out mainly because they were just bad at football. If you measure his tenure based solely on wins and losses, he has clearly been a massive success. If you measure his tenure on attention and revenue generation, you could argue he's the best hire in college football coaching history. Now, do I think he'll leave for greener pastures when his kid gets drafted to the NFL? Absolutely I do, and then the team will be back to square one.

We judged Deion based on the content of his character and we were ALL called the "Big R" word for it when this was always laughably obvious to ANYONE with even a shred of common sense. Deion is a hustler. It is ALWAYS about him and only him. He has literally been that way from the second he had the national spotlight put on him. And just to be clear, having kids who aren't actually talented enough to be on the team transfer off of the team and then having those kids react negatively to how they were treated IS NOT even the problem here. That's not even the red flag. As was said in this clip, finding disgruntled former college players from ANY program is not difficult to do. The difference is that Nick Saban never went to the media and trash-talked those former players after they were gone...NO MATTER WHAT THOSE PLAYERS SAID ABOUT HIM OR THE PROGRAM! You never saw Urban Meyer or any of the all-time-great college coaches EVER do something that trashy. That is because those great men are intelligent enough to understand that the glory comes from the success their programs have over an extended period of time. Nobody would want to hear Urban Meyer or Nick Saban talk about college football on TV if their programs finished with four wins every year and they didn't have championship rings on their fingers. Those coaches achieved fame and fortune BASED ON THEIR COACHING ABILITIES! Not their self-promotion abilities. Guys like Saban don't even WANT to talk to the media. Deion wants an entire media circus around him every time he opens his mouth. Deion is all about Deion. About drawing attention to Deion. About gaining more fame for Deion. And that is even true when it comes to his own son. He wants to be able to brag that HE turned his son into a high NFL draft pick and a good NFL player. It's not just about his son having success...it's about being able to take THE CREDIT for his son having success. He literally could not care less about any other kid on that team. Coaches like Saban, Meyer, etc, want success for ALL of their players. Deion wants success for his son, and whatever happens to the rest of the kids on his team isn't his problem. That's the difference.

Coach Prime has done some suspect stuff outside of football but has been able to cover most of the stuff up from the general public. Prime Academy, domestic abuse claims, his testimony under oath for the situation his 2nd son was in, and list goes on. With CU, he is in conference that has schools that have the same or more resources than him and he has not learned that the formula he used at JSU will not work for regular season success. People tend to forget Coach Prime lost to a 6-5 SCSU in bowl game.

My issue with Dion at Colorado is that his entire approach is so dramatically different to that from his previous stent at Jackson State. It’s almost like he got the Colorado job because of what he did at Jackson State, as well as his profile - but as soon as he got to Colorado, he completely changed his coaching and management style. If memory serves, he didn’t turn over the roster at Jackson State nearly to the extent, nor was he dependent on the portal over traditional recruiting and player development. I think there was more stability with the coaching staff, too. From an outsiders perspective, it looks a lot like he lacked the confidence to apply what made him successful at an FCS program while now on the main stage of a power five job.

I kind of think it’s the opposite. I don’t think he turned the roster over as much in the second year at JSU because the first year he got a large amount of FBS players to transfer down to FCS schools that probably didn’t need to go that far down. His advantage at JSU was he got the same level of portal players he’s getting now but then he was able to beat up on FCS teams with them so things like chemistry and continuity didn’t matter. He learned the wrong lessons from that and assumed he could jump a level and use the exact same recipe to win FBS games.

I'm a CU/Deion fan. They weren't as good or as bad as people said last year. They've had turmoil, but they also have talent and real coaches. If they execute sound game plans (e.g., run the ball, and stop the run), they can win more than they lose. If Shedeur is a #1 pick, then they should win 8+ games. I listened intently to this entire conversation, and it appears that there is destain because of how norms are being challenged. However, none of the panelists seem to have a true understanding of how barriers are broken, especially in football. As someone who has successfully overcome obstacles and broken barriers as a businessperson, I would advise the panel to adopt a wait-and-see approach regarding Coach Prime. If the team succeeds and has a winning season, what could you say to justify your previous criticisms? How would you explain the discrepancy between your predictions and the team's performance? I understand that you're in the business of generating clicks and profits, which is perfectly reasonable. However, for those of us observing from the sidelines, we're in a wait-and-see mode after this season. If the Deion leads the team to a successful year, it will significantly diminish the credibility of the opinions expressed on this panel about his coaching abilities and ability to change a culture within a power five football program. Deion has been a winner all of his life and I would NEVER bet against him.

How can it be the beginning of the end of coach prime in Colorado and the only ppl hating on him is everyone but ppl in Colorado they loved Deion . He is doing things his way and these media ppl don’t like it. I mean every school has ppl leaving big whop but ppl leave Colorado it’s national news like really. Then ppl say he did all of this in two years that to much turn over well this is a different times kids can transfer as they please meaning if they ain’t playing they leaving that not his fault coach already said he ain’t begging a kid to stay

Best Buffs take on the dark sports Web. They were undressed after winning that CS game, which I won. Made a lot of $$ off Prime because like most of the casuals, Vegas didn’t get who they were either at the beginning of the season. Hope to repeat that with the first two games, that first game will be closer than Vegas realizes. Everything Van & RR said is not only 1000 but no other national pundits are talking about it at this much depth; their silence is deafening and they smell of fear. The shows that cover for Deion’s mistakes weren’t real sports shows to begin with and this subject only further clarifies their existence.

So last year the first year right ok I thought so and this year will be the 2nd right ok I thought so saying we don’t know what they have as a team doesn’t mean he don’t know what he doing or he don’t know what it takes to be a coach go look at every school transfer portal numbers they all have guys that have left so because Colorado has guy in the transfer portal and Deion is the coach is the only reason yall sitting here making content on it he shouldn’t say n do a lot that’s true but let’s not act as if that’s not the person you are a fan of who been very outspoken since the 80s

I think people have a hard time understanding the type of home Colorado was in a program: They are behind UTAH for prestige in the last 25 years. They were worse off than NEBRASKA. They were 1-11 with an average loss in the Pac-12 of 30 points. Deion going there is GREAT for the program. At this point, I expect them to be probably 6-6 at best this upcoming year. Again, this is with 2 guys viewed as 1st round guys conservatively. Their depth is still an issue and will rear is head during the season. Maybe he stays, maybe he leaves but Colorado football is in a much better place regardless. I think they have a good chance to be viable in the Big-12 (to me they're 1 of the winners in the conference realignment).

Go and watch the interview Jason Whitlock conducted last season with some ex-Colorado players. The way they say Deion treated them is despicable. He should not be coaching young, impressionable men. His "building men" persona is totally overblown. And crying racism over every critique is a horrible message to send to hisplayers AND his race. There's already a huge surplus of victim-minded blacks.

It APPEARS that they believe if you don't check your detractors you are weak. They need to be more tactful. Being tactful is not weak in my opinion. CU needs to hire a Public Relations specialist and do what the P.R. Firm tells them what to do. It worked for A-Rod and many others.

Colorado has two 10 win seasons since 2001. 16 years finishing .500 or less… the 90s glory days of Kordell Stewart, Brian Westbrook, Rashan Salaam, Deon Figures, etc are loooong gone. Colorado has had no cache for the past 20-30 years. They haven’t gotten this much attention in God knows how long. Deion is safe. They’re generating money and attention. That’s all that matters to them currently. And, sports has always been about favoritism…. Deion is just doing what most coaches and leaders are afraid to do. He is, who he is

Yea that sounds great, but the money and attention was generated through hype and the hot little start they had to begin last season. As soon as they were exposed by Oregon and proved to everyone how mid and below mid they actually were the whole time, all of that began to change. Did you see the picture of the crowd attendance for there spring game this year, vs last year? Based on the picture shown this year, you tell me if the money and attention is on the same level as it was a year ago? This whole Deion Colorado experience is looking more and more like smoke and mirrors than a substantial impact.

This a hit piece on coach prime lol. If I hear another person talk about players are leaving I’ll go crazy. This is the transfer portal area kids are leaving every program in America. Alabama lost a lot of there starters. Plus they never talk about the level of skill coach prime has brought to that program smh.
@rg7656
@rg7656 Месяц назад
Are you seriously comparing it to Alabama? This let's me know you have no business commenting on this. Players left Alabama because the G.O.A.T. coach retired. The man who they came there to play for and has a proven track record of winning on the highest stage and sending kids to the N.F.L. This is not the same. And you can have all the "skill" you want but if you cant coach it up then it matters not. Just look at all of the top 3 recruiting classes that Texas A&M had over the last few years. Doesnt mean nothing if you cant coach them up or dont have the right fits. lets not forget, he brought in all of the players last year didnt he? And how did that work out?
