I've seen 1000+ anime, but Yuri on Ice is the only anime I watch every year. i'm glad you're picking this up ! Thank you!

i love how you mentioned how supportive yuri’s family and friends are, it’s definitely one of my favorite parts of this show :) it’s so sweet and one of the reasons this show makes me feel all warm, he has so many people rooting for him who know how great he is, he just needs to realize it for himself

ooh I'm glad you picked this one up! They do such a great job with the music in this, and with the choreography of the skating programs. It's really excellent. I also love the depiction of Yuri's anxiety in this, how he just bawled after getting off the phone with his mom. I think they did an excellent job portraying it

I absolutely love this anime! I've always loved figure skating (my mom is obsessed with it as well and I've been watching it with her my whole life and probably would have gone on to do professional figure skating if that was a thing in my country - we only have ice rinks in the winter in 2 or 3 shopping malls in the whole country 😅) and, when I learned that they were doing a figure skating anime, I was skeptical because sports anime are not really the best representatives of the sport itself...but boy was I wrong!!! I absolutely love it (my mom too and she is not the avid anime watcher that I am) ❤ from the characters and animation to the music to the costumes, everything! And you mentioned the sound of the skates on the ice...they took the actual sound of a professional figure skater (who also did the choreographies) skating and just put it in. And also the costumes they wear for performances were actually designed by an actual figure skating costume designer and there are pictures of the drawings with notes about the materials and why or why not certain things work or not. They went all out for this anime and it shows. I always watch it at the end of the Grand Prix in real life (which starts in October and ends in December). I also watch it when I need a moment to just relax 😊 I hope you enjoy Yuri On Ice as much as I do and maybe even watch some real life performances by some of the best skaters like for example Yuzuru Hanyu and Kim Yuna. Btw...a lot of figure skaters like this anime (you rarely see professionals liking the anime that is based on their sport). There was even a pair skating duo that skated to one of the songs from this show at the Winter Olympics 2018! Some of the skaters who have mentioned Yuri!! On Ice: Evgeni Plushenko (who Viktor is based on), Evgenia Medvedeva (who has cosplayed as Yuri 😊), Tarah Kayne and Danny O'Shea (pair skaters), Michael Martinez (who is believed to be the inspiration to another character you haven't met yet), Johnny Weir, Ashley Wagner, and many others. Sorry for the long comment 😅 I just get excited when talking about this 😁

I have to say that this is one of the most influential anime in the world and I CANNOT wait for the next episodes. It's gonna be such an emotional and beautiful journey 🙏 I love every single character in this show so much. I'm actually in the right before getting bored of feeling depressed stage, so I can't wait until I fully get out of it and do something awesome like Yuri did. I just need that one final push and I have a feeling that your reactions are gonna be a part of that, so thank you in advance~

This is the only anime that has me rating it 10/10, 12/10 more like. This show NEVER misses, no matter how many times I watch it. Music 10/10 Animation 10/10 considering it was made in 2016 Characters 10/10 Skating 10/10 Story and plot 10/10 I fucking love this show, yuri on ice is what made me the person I am today, Victor and yuuri are literally my dads

thanks for the reaction! honestly i just love how the characters interact with each other mc is quite likeable too, adult life, adult worries and it feels pretty modern with the social media stuff, the press and news conferences lol

This show is fantastic! it's so good - especially if you understand mental health and anxiety... then you just get a whole other level. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! I was heartbroken - but not terribly surprised when they cancelled the movie. They announced they were doing the movie back in 2018-19 - then kept pushing is back and back and back again. So it wasn't surprising when they did eventually cut it altogether... but like I said, heartbroken. I had been waiting since that first announcement! Its such a shame that it was cancelled in favor of the studio's other big hits. YOI was unlike any of their other work - which is probably why it got cut. May be some homophobia in the decision as well because I've heard that management had changed. I wish they'd sell whatever they have to another studio to get it completed. I know that the team working on it had already put a ton of work in - they even worked with figure skaters and other people in that world to make it great - only for it to get pushed aside and eventually dumped in the trash. Worse, MAPPA didn't explain WHY, not really. We just got a "due to several circumstances" excuse.
