During this Business Talk episode, CEO of Residency Malta, Charles Mizzi, discusses the advantages of Malta as a country for second residency. He also explains the requirements that Third Country Nationals (TCNs) need to fulfil to become a resident of Malta through the Malta Permanent Residence Programme (MPRP) and how Residency Malta simplifies the process. Additionally, Mizzi talks about interesting trends in the types of people who are applying for residency in Malta. He then provides information about the next steps for those who are interested in becoming Maltese residents and highlights the benefits of working remotely in Malta while serving customers in another country.
The MPRP is a residency-by-investment programme that offers a straightforward and efficient way to obtain residency in Malta. The programme is based on investments in property and government contributions, and it promises a 4 to 6-month processing time from the submission of a complete and correct application.
The MPRP offers a range of benefits to beneficiaries, including the right to settle, stay and reside permanently in Malta, as well as visa-free travel across Schengen for 90 out of 180 days. Beneficiaries can also penetrate Malta's affordable real estate market and may include up to four generations in an application.
To be eligible for the MPRP, applicants must meet certain requirements. They must be third-country nationals, non-EU, non-EEA, and non-Swiss, and should not hail from sanctioned countries, as announced from time to time by the Agency. They must also not benefit under other pertinent regulations and schemes, and should be in receipt of stable and regular financial resources, sufficient to maintain themselves and their dependants, without recourse to the social assistance system of Malta.
Applicants must show that they have capital assets of not less than €500,000, out of which a minimum of €150,000 must be financial assets. They must also be fit-and-proper individuals with a clean criminal record and should not pose any potential threat to the national security, public policy, public health or public interest.
To participate in the Programme, applicants must submit an application via a Licensed Agent.
