Intel may have gone off the deep end with their new 10th gen lineup, especially on the insane 10 core 10900K, but even amongst the madness, I think I’ve found a real gem. This is the i5 10400F and it could be the best 10th gen CPU!

Huh now the cheap shitty ASRock Z-board makes sense, it was not to OC the CPU it was made to pair with a locked chip and OC the RAM to the moon! The more usual configs would been 2666MHz on a B460 or H470... :I

Man, can you please help me understand, I have onenof these 10400 on a z590 board. I have 3200mhs ram but it runs at 2666 as it's set, from what I see and my little brain tells me I can only run it at 2666mhz, I don't see in bios with the xmp options any way to run my 10400 at the 3200mhz... I'm really not good at this stuff and it's really confusing for me. I'm pretty sure getting a z590 and a 10400 wasn't a good combo in hindsight but this is where I am now and I do see others upping their ram mhz, so how tf are they doing this, also, I literally only play gta5 so is it even worth trying to learn and then do? If you answer this I'd be very happy because it's got me just seriously confused...

We have it here in Croatia but only in prebuild gaming PC, Ryzen 3 3300x, 16 GB RAM, 512 SSD paired with GTX 1660 Super, price 1100 Euros.

this 3300x is a pre zen2.5 things, its design is close to zen3, because all core in one die unlike all other zen2 SKU with dual ccd causing high latency. Basically, 3300x is way too advance basically destroyed 3600 in gaming.

I have a i5 10400f & an Asus Rog Strix 2060, I run everything on ultra at 1080p & without clocking, I been getting 90fps….. Only thing stock in my rig, I haven’t changed.

Same here, with 15 & Asus Rog Strix 2060 & I do 4k on ultra settings, but my FPS stays around 60 to as low as 45, I love it. recently bought a 4k monitor as upgrade now, from 1080.

I think the same, this can be the best Intel 10th CPU, we just have to get a very cheap H490 MoBo (cheapest) a Z490 that it costs double than the CPU itself has no sense, and we have to keep in mind that ZEN 3 going to come out this year, and Intel's 11th too, so... this generation come late... they are very goods but better things are coming soon

Yea man its stupid that we need to buy the z motherboard to get the most out of it when we dont need the features in these motherboards like oc. I thought that its just better to buy the ryzen 5 3600 but its 100$ more expensive and requires a good cooler to oc. So now i dont know, what to buy! i5 10400f with b460🤔

Steve from Gamers Nexus ended up not recommending the chip because of the arbitrary lock to 2666 MHz memory on the intended platform, B460 and H470 motherboards. Z490 motherboard is required to liberate the 10400 from this limitation. This drives up the total cost of the system

Locked means that you can't overclock your CPU. On unlocked CPUs, you can give more power to your CPU, increasing its performance.

@@jaayyc7988 The system specs you listed are mostly fine for a gaming rig (assuming you're playing in 1080p), but you'll definitely want 16GB of ram, not 8GB... you could purchase that system and upgrade to 16GB and it would be balanced.

I just upgraded from my Ryzen 5 3500 to Core i5 10400f, and I loving the experience. I am getting almost 10-15 fps more in games. $170 in Canada when 3600 is $250 cheapest to $300 and 3600x is even more.. Slap on a cheap b460 lga1200 board for $100 to $150 and any ram at 2666 or higher than 2666mhz at $68 to $109, you have a similar build to a Ryzen 3600 but for much cheaper

To me it just does not make sense. If Intel allowed overclocking on the cheaper B series boards it might be competitive with Ryzen as an all round CPU. Or at least allowed memory overclocking, as that can make a big difference according to some other reviewers in games. Now AMD have confirmed B450 will have support for the 4000 chips, I would take the minor FPS hit and productivity increase and go with Ryzen personally.

@@rono7964 3300x only has 4 cores, nextgen consoles are already utilizing 8 cores and it will be the normal soon. Don't get me wrong, it's a great procie but it will not be good for future games. The 10400f is abit of a downer as you will be needing a z490 mobo in order for it to be on par with the 3600 performance and those do not come cheap.

The intel stock cooler is absolutely tiny, and not suited for basically any of their CPUs. You will need an aftermarket solution, although you don't need to go as far as watercooling. Something like the Arctic Freezer 34 eSports DUO is relatively cheap and will work fine.

Hi, Im a newbie. I want to build my own desktop fir video editing. Will this be good for gigabyte z490 ud motherboard? Thanks in advance. And also what's the budget graphics card would you recommend for video editing if I have a 16gb RAM. Thanks.

This definitely wouldn't be a bad option, although if you can stretch for the 10600K you'll get a decent performance boost. Both will worth with that motherboard just fine. As for graphics, it's not as important only really for acceleration. Something like a GTX 1650 or 1660Ti would give you good acceleration performance without breaking the bank.

AMD cpus are not useless for gaming. They can game, but intel cpus will perform better. If you want to work and game, amd is the best choice for the price. If you are only gaming, go intel, if you are doing both go amd.
