Can you help me out I had traditional locs I cut them out they were so dry and brittle now I have an appointment to get extensions and I just want to know how do I care for my scalp and my hair while the extensions are in thank you
Before I started doing my locs myself, the person doing my hair had me coming back every three weeks!! Once I realized that was WAY TOO OFTEN, I stopped going and left my hair the heck alone. It started growing better aftet that and my roots started getting thicker. Yanni is right. Sometimes you do have to take matters In your own hands, Literally.
+Love Locs My former stylist had given me the same advice. She feels it was too soon going to the shop every 3 weeks. I should wait at least 4-6 weeks. When I started wearing my own hair in dreadlocs, the couple of different stylists want me to come to the shop every 3 weeks. If I waited longer than 3 weeks, it will be more work, and it will cost me more. Now I get my locs retwisted every 6 weeks.
Ms, Yannie YOU ARE AMAZING......i love your videos. i did talk to you a few years ago when i started my locs and have followed you since. your advice is GOLDEN...Please stop wasting your breath on negative people. I love that you give a well rounded approach to taking care of crowns...
Thank you for all the advice! I have been growing and maintaining my own locs for six years. I don't really use products and followed my mother's advice on only twisting my hair every three months. Recently my locs have started to thin a little and I have been worried about them. I started doing the hot oil treatment from your website and I have noticed a complete change and now my locs have really thickened up and felt so much better.
I don't have locs but I find your advice helpful, especially the parts about being as healthy as possible in mind. body and spirit. Thank you for education and willingness to teach and share. Blessings x
4min explaining yourself to people is too long. U don't have to defend yourself, those who love you will love you. I may visit you in jersey, hehe for a consultation
thank you for your advice on getting rid of build up. i use to use beeswax, and i stopped the beginning of the year. I'll take your advice over anybody else on RU-vid!
Real ting dis, opening comments. 👊 Much love Yannie. Trini gyal 🇹🇹 😊 Thank you for being straightforward and keeping it 💯. Respek yuh loc advice 🇯🇲 blessup
Yannie you are wonderful! I love your candor and your positive vibe. Thank you for helping those that need it. I was seeing someone who didn't have a problem with doing someone's dreds every month! I started asking questions about this and she went crazy! I stopped going to her! Money, money, money!!
Since I've been watching you Yannie your advice of using Rosewater and Vitamin E oil has changed my life. Thanks for sharing and I love the disrespect my roots have now due to me not getting retwisted but maybe 3 times a year....SENDING YOU LOVE AND POSITIVE ENERGY ✌🏾❤
Yanni, these people have a low moral compass. Keep being a Queen and rock on. People have sickness of hate and darkness with in them. Sending energy to all the dark souls who need healing.
Thank you for providing this information. I have my hair natural I am also dealing with thinning or hair loss. I'm actually fixing my diet and the way I take care of my hair. I watch your videos to get information on ways to help my hair growth.
I love learning from you Ms. Yannie because you are REAL, very informative and knowledgeable about your work . I don't even have Locks but I love ❤️ your channel and your energy is really positive.
With all due respect, is this from personal experience, a result you've witnessed or something you heard? Only asking, 'cause I've never heard that before. ;-) Cheers.
We appreciate you Sista, don't mind the negativity and that will never survive the good you do. BTW I two strand twist locked my hair today.I'm so excited for this journey. Bless
Thanks for posting Yannie! I love watching your vids here and Facebook, you're right, I prefer the vibe on FB. The comments on YT can be really unkind.
I really appreciate what advice and wisdom you give. There are so many people on RU-vid who think they know what's right and it isn't. Thanks Yannie for being honest and wise. High five ✋🏾 to you
Yannie!!! always love your videos I have locs for 6yrs now. I started watching you a few years ago and thanks to your advice my hair is soo healthy now. I need to make an appointment to see you in person. my family is Trini and Bajan so I understand where you're coming from. 😁😁
I want to thank you for your information Sister. I am in the midst of going through a lot of damage from stress and just a few days ago I resolved to cut my locs out of desperation. I am not a fan of products. Your advice has given me so much hope!!!! Of course I will not cut my locs and I will be patient. THANK YOU!!!!
I love what you’re doing for us, me especially of what I’m doing wrong, I wish You were in the Southfield, Mi area or Maybe I can get a Load cause I’m a truck driver to your location, so you can look and help me out, but I always will be watching every chance I get, You are Very Bless and you Have a Good Day.
Thank you so much Yannie! This video and the others you've done on damaged hair have really helped me! My hair started thinning and I didn't know why. I thought maybe it was because of the shampoo i was using, but I realised that I was interlocking too much (every 2 weeks). I was so discouraged and wanted to cut it all off. But now I've been encouraged to relax and let my hair be and so far, I've gotten some good results! #nostress
Blessings Empress Yanni from newbie Sisterlocks hair love! I cherish Your advice on hair foundation care even though I have Sisterlocks! Thank You for Your humanity towards My Beautiful Sisterlocks! Do not give a several minute disclaimer on folks negative enough effort to distract from the jewels I watch You to receive! I actually take notes from Your videos. If You are able can You share on Sisterlocks care regarding the health of the locked hair not the patented brand but a matted loc is a matted loc. Should We groom trim the wispy hair from the locs or just leave it alone. My trainee suggests "grooming" trimming those wisps off of My hair. I said no in love as I do love Her We are in a permanent relationship and I plan to cultivate it! I said Yanni said leave the wispy hair alone. She graciously said no thing more of it.
The little wispy bits I use a small (under 1mm) latch crochet hook and jus pull them into the dread. Turn in order with the twist and jus in n pull through, wrap n catch another fluff, in and back through. Gently twisting as you go (not like a full twist, jus enough to turn it as you go and the end will go bakc to norm, though you can do this during a retwist for a super tidy) to keep the shape. I hope I've explained that in okay enough a way? It's difficult without showing it lol.
I have learnt so much. Thank you Yannie. My hair is very soft and did not know what to do. But I did it like twice a month and wash too often. But that is done now.
Galatian 5 chapter speaks about the fruit of the Holy Spirit which doesn’t yield aggression and whatever else your spirit depicts 👎 but I’m listening to your hair advice anyway 💞
How do you maintain the locs without palming or re-tightening ? You stated you would not touch the hair for a year. You would have all that new growth, will you cut the locs. Thanks for sharing.
Doubling my water intake after watching this video. What is the oil you mentioned at the end of this video? I don't see the follow-up video on your channel to get that info.
All of the RELIGION OF LOCS, is akin to saying ; (1) not EVERYONE who smokes cigarettes will develop lung cancer or heart disease (2) not EVERYONE who has diabetes will have an amputation or develop kidney failure or go blind (3) not EVERYONE who uses heroin or meth will overdose (5) not EVERYONE who drives at 100 mph will have a deadly car crash So what the hell, if I lose ANY of my hair follicles, so what A HAIRSTYLE is WORTH THE RISK OF BALDNESS. None of these RISKS are REQUIRED to LIVE. Nor is a HAIRSTYLE REQUIRED to LIVE. THAT is what I am hearing.
Hair fallout around the crown .. 7 months in started noticing last week. This been happening before dreads and I grew dreads hoping it would stop but 7 months in I notice it .. I stopped sleeping with durag sometimes and sleep on cotton pillowcase is that the issue ? And can it grow back if I take vitamins and keep hair tied w silk ? Or cut it off ? I see a dermatologist in 3 days. The crown also becomes itchy in which I have to pat a llot ! I’m worried !!
Hey.. I've been locking for about 8 months now... I've notice for the past 2 months or so my hair has gone really sensitive.. What i mean by this is if i just pull on it just a bit without force it really hurts.. My hair is constantly down.. I get my hair done now every 6-8 weeks. Before if i used a hair band to in my hair to measure my growth it was ok but now it hurts like hell to even grab my hair and try it. Can you give any advice as to why this happening
I’m mixed race and have very thin hair but my locks are down pass my calf’s but at the sides of my head I have bald patches and my hair is very heavy how can I get my sides back again or is it to late
I have real short natural hair, do I start with twist out, then later go into locs? do you have a video on starting natural hair, into locs? what products do I put on my hair, to start?
Hello Yannie. I'm experiencing hair loss in the crown and temples. Is it ok to wear a silk like cloth around the hairline to rest the hair from styling. I use to always wear my hair pulled back. I've stopped that now but need to keep my hair out of my face. Thanks in advance.
Avis Savage Hey! I know I'm not Yannie, but from watching her videos, I've learned that using Jamaican Black Castor Oil and Rose Water directly onto the roots works wonders. In my experience, it actually works, especially JBCO. In terms of the keeping hair from your face, you're idea is really good. Using silk is much better than using cotton and other types of fabrics. The silk will help keep the moisture from the oil and rose water on your scalp and help with hair growth. I hope this helps you!
Greetings. Thanks for your response. I've enjoyed her videos for some time too. I use the rose water vitamin e oil. I also use Jamician black castor oil. I recently started taking Diatomaceous Earth. I'm hoping that combination works. I will do the silk wrap. Thanks again.
Greetings Avis Savage, silk or satin is good to wear round the hairline as they won't suck the moisture from your hair. Also wear a satin bonnet to bed so a cotton pillowcase doesn't dry out your hair
I’ve been putting rice water in my hair for growth but noticed that my grays are growing out black again. Forget the growth. I’m keeping it to keep grays at bay.

how do i stop post partum hair loss...im 2.5 yrs locd my baby girl is 3 mons on oct 24th 2018 and ive noticed my edges are slowly disappearing!!!! also the back locs are thinning....PLEASE PLEASS PLEASE help me if you can...im really freaking out thank you -kat
Hello. Once we give birth, our hormones shift and can cause hair loss. I lost my edges (locs) in the front when I had my daughter. Over time, they did grow back. My locs are a few inches above my waist, but my edges are the shortest locs on my head because they are newer/grew in after my daughter was born. Just keep your hair cleaned and well oiled/moisturized (I use coconut oil from Walmart mixed with black seed oil from the Vitamin Shoppe), drink lots of water, try to keep stress down, etc. Your hair will recover. I'm 18 years into my locs journey. Best wishes to you and your baby.
I actually do answer comments/questions however, I receive hundreds and it's humanly impossible for me to answer EVERY SINGLE one, work and still maintain a normal life. With that being said, to the Queen that asked the question about partum shedding I've done a video about it a couple of years ago but I plan on doing another one soon. I got you ;)
