(w/ an ACV/Baking Soda wash - also happens with Dr Bronners)
I can't thank you enough for these videos. My only regret is not finding you earlier. I love your videos especially the ones that are not about locs. PLEASE PLEASE keep informing and educating us. I have to say this covid19 has made me appreciate my hair even more. It's like the environment. I'm giving it a break. Just an update. For people who are worried about sweat, Yanni is correct about not washing your hair often. Your scalp will naturally cleanse itself and it won't smell. I'm a cyclist, runner and practice Muay Thai. I sweat a lot and my hair does not smell. Drink plenty of water.
Factz!!! Yannie is not Lying about washing your hair every 3-4 months bc I’ve been washing every 3 -4 months and my hair is longer!! Plus my maintenance is exactly 3 months, I’m stretching to out to 4 months now.. Factz#💯
It makes me sad to hear that people make such negative comments. You are really taking your time to educate others and if they don't like the information, they have the freedom to unsubscribe or not to watch. Keep doing your videos! I learn a lot!
Thank you Queen for educating. I started following your advice and understood MY OWN HAIR without relying on tutorials. My locs are now THRIVING!!!! Love from Kenya 🇰🇪
Yannie. Keep doing what you’re doing. I found your channel around week 4 of starting my locs. Year 4 now. You saved me from making every mistake in the book. Thank you.
I love your personality and I’m sorry you have to keep reiterating to people that this is YOUR advice for a natural and holistic approach & they don’t have to take the advice.
This was so helpful, Yannie! You have been a godsend! I started my locs 9 months ago and have been following your advice from month 1 or 2, and I've loved the results. My hairs is thick, healthy and happy. I love your natural, holistic, no-nonsense, common sense approach. So refreshing--I've never felt more liberated with my hair. Much love.
Yannie, I am one of your newest "stalkers" and I must say that your videos have taught me so much! Thanks for being authentically YOU! I love your channel!
I love your educational videos, I used to be that girl the retwist my locs every 4weeks, but now I don't. My locs are almost 6years and once every 3months is great. I let my roots be disrespectful now and my locs are flourishing and thanking me❤️ and they still beautiful and not messy at all. Thank you. They stay healthy
Thx u!!! U spread real knowledge about locs that many Americans including myself assume we understand. U have opened my eyes from eurocentric, to understanding our own unique features that American society knows nothing about. Thank u!!!
Bless. I love the videos and for all of the haters that's their misery, and I'm so happy that you speak your mind and mean what you say. Keep on rising Queen. Bless
Thank you Yannie for recommending Dr.Bronners soap! I’m 14 months loc’d and it’s the first I’m using that soap. I will not go back to what I was using. This soap is it for me! I love the tingling from the peppermint and I love how clean my locs feel. I just make sure to add my oils after I use it and I’m good to go.
I do a Dawn wash once a year, mostly because I live in a place with really hard water, and also I'm bad about covering my hair all the time so things floating in the air/pollen/etc get into it. Doing the Dawn wash *once a year* ensures that I'm truly getting everything out. I also have allergies here that present on my skin and scalp so I have to wash more regularly, otherwise, I would be living my once a month wash life.
I’m happy I discovered yannie a few months into my loc journey (I was retwisting with silly gels and over twisting) 🙌🏿 I wash every few months, use JBCO on my scalp and water or rose water to sprits and retwist every 2-3 months. I’m five years loced and I maintain them on my own. They are coming on just fine barely any build up I don’t wash with dr bronners I have hard water so it didn’t work well but I do wash with Shea moisture JBCO shampoo which is water based and leaves no build up 👍🏿
I use to feel bad for not washing my locs as much.....glad I found your channel, I'm learning a lot. The older I get the more I learn about my locs. I stopped resisting so much, and started looking for natural remedie.
Hi Yannie and Jimmy! I love how you guys tailor and treat every clients locs based on their needs, instead of treating everyone the same 🤗🤗. I definitely am going to make future plans to have you guys bless my crown. You guys continue to be careful and safe 😍😍
Amazing knowledgeable video. At the end of the day, we are what we eat. 💜 (Especially in regards to the scalp sweating during workouts and not washing your Locs as often.)
I love your positive dont give a crap attitude. I have been spraying my hair with vitamin E and Rose water and I love it. I am 6 months in low maintenance and loving it. thanks for this video
I just stumbled upon this channel this morning! Very informative, and I like that you answered the questions clearly. I began my loc journey two years ago and I am looking forward to watching more!
Hi Yannie! I'm living in the Netherlands. Thank you Yannie for being patient and sharing your knowledge with us! I appreciate all your videos!! Hopefully ill get to get my locs blessed by you some day!
I totally get what your sayin Queen. My father is from Jamaica and was a rasta. Hes schooled me to all these things, but I chose to get the "neater" looking locs. But the only reason I didnt fully freeform, is because of society, work, etc. I would LOVE to have my locs like Bob Marley style!
yannie lova when you coming back home thank you for flying our flag high, for giving knowledge to the masses and for not taking bullshit from anyone. Who don't like me could bite mehhhh!!!!
What if your lifestyle is NOT as healthy as yours? I'm vegan, but I have other habits that are a work in progress...i.e, I don't always drink enough water, I sometimes eat processed food, I sit outside a lot, I do not and will not ever cover my locs, I dance and do yoga on the floor and my locs touch the ground and I am frequently around cigarette smoke. I endeavor to lead a cleaner lifestyle and until I do, I wonder how often I should wash my locs? I have watched many of your videos where you have recommended washing just a few times a year, but it seems to be with the assumption that everybody has a very healthy lifestyle. What about those who don't and are working to get there? 💜✨
Mama Yannie you saved my life with your wisdom! I have learned so much from your videos, about to start my 2nd set of locs, thicker and more disrespectful than the last! Much love! ❤️
Thank you, Yannie . I really appreciate your knowledge 🙏🏽. If I had found your page sooner, it would have saved me a lot of undoing hair drama. Thank you
I wish I would have watched your videos Before I started my locs. I wrapped my hair with wool yarn!I didn't think of the damage it could cause- until I saw you take off your cap and the inner bonnets! And I knew that, but did not think of it! I also saw your video when a lady lost her hair from faux locs extensions. My hair is(hope) pretty thick, hopefully not too much damage was done. It took me 2 weeks to complete, but I will be taking them out,Soon! Hopefully this will help someone else who is considering doing the same-Don't! Thank You!
Thank you for part 1, all your info is greatly appreciated. Hope my loc question about combining locs will be answered on part 2. Stay blessed Queen 🙏🏿
Honestly love this video is 2 1/2 hours long. It's being broken up into 6 parts. You'll notice I'll be wearing the same tshirt in all the future q & a vids. Lol. But I truly appreciate you for watching
yannie i'll start my locs this month i was really lost with all those youtube recommendations thanks for bringing clarity ! ill finish all your other videos before having my locs done
Yall they got shower filters at lows... they are 35-50 bucks depending on what sower head you want etc... you replace them every six months-1 year. I've been using them for years... life saver for my hair and skin because I like to wet my hair in the sower...
I am so grateful for your videos.🙏🏾 We travel for natural, conventional, and unconventional healing. I have tried to find the right time & space to book with Yannie, but it's never worked out. I've decided to stop and simply bless my own locs by following her wisdom, stay connected to her positivity and community while I press on. Thx for the vibes & lessons.🙏🏾✨🧘🏾♀️
Hi just want comment I just Starr listening to your vedio and what I hear so far makes alot of sense. Most is common sense. I just Start locking my hair and I would say most of what your saying confirms exactly what my locticion is saying. Especially no conditioner, stick to one oil etc. Thanks you are encouraging my journey God bless your gifting
Good morning I wanted to find out what you think about using aloe Vera Juice on locs I have Sisterlocks and I use some aloe Vera juice mixed with some oils like chamomile and almond oil and also Rosemary
Queen, excellent Q+A. Lot of basic and important information. I still waiting for yor answer about doing the Retain to my locs. If is not twisting, and it's not interlalacking. How should do I keep my hair after washing it? Thank you for your knowledge 🙏 and sharing with the world.
