Hello! Thank you again for such a great review. My 2 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with Lukemia, I was wondering if the Levoit was good enough for a large space even though it doesn't have a hepa filter. Or do you have any other recommendations?
@HouseFresh
@HouseFresh 4 дня назад
Really sorry to hear abut your daughter. I wouldn't worry about it not being HEPA as we have seen that many non-HEPA grade filters can perform quicker at removing the smallest of particles from the air. If you share me the room size you want to keep clean and I provide a few different reccomendations for you to choose from.

BEWARE: I'm seeing sellers now advertising CARD in cubic meters per hour (m³/hr) which are bigger numbers than the traditional cubic feet per minute ( ft³/min). Example; 380m³/hr is about 223ft³/min. This site then goes on to say; "The CADR rating reflects the volume of air in CFM (cubic feet per minute) ...". "REFLECTS ... CFM (ft³/min)". Disgusting.

Hi! I found your page from an article talking about Google SEO and reach. You guys make amazing contents! You have no idea how refreshing it is to watch honest reviews, among the many deceptive ads out there. Just a quick thought since I live in Asia. It occurs to me that there are some affordable brands over here that doesn't make it to the developed market, such as the Xiaomi air purifiers. And there are not many quality reviewers discussing about them either. So i was just wondering if reviewing these brands might improve your engagement, as there is big view traffic from the densely populated areas here. And if the performance of these brands are on par with the well known brands, maybe you guys can play as the distributor. Anw, enough blabbering. Thanks for the high quality reviews. I am better informed because of it. Cheers!

Hi what purifier do you recommend for cigar smoking indoors in 100sqft room? I was looking at Winix 5500-2 and/or Leviot core 600s. Thanks for your input in advance.
@HouseFresh
@HouseFresh 9 дней назад
Out of the two I would pick the core 600s as it has a much higher CADR but it’s unlikely to be enough for cigar smoke indoors. for this use case you might need investing in a device that uses electrostatic filters and have very high cadr and are classed they smoke eaters but they are not cheap staring at $1.6k. The consumer device that offers a similar function would be something like the Bluair classic range like the 605 but if you want to be able to keep a room clean when smoking indoors you will have to likely have to get one of the high cost specialist units. I haven’t tested any of these so can’t offer specifics but hope that is helpful.

New subscriber here I am learning a lot of your channel. I need to ask you something please. I have a Dyson pure and cool TP09 in my living room and detects lots of VOC but it’s not capable to reduce them too much. Dyson is cool for the features but it’s not a great purifier. I am thinking to put another purifier in the living room. Which one would be better for VOC? Levoit 600s or Coway 250 or 300 ?.The doubt is because this Coway units have more quantity of carbon. Probably this high VOC levels are due that the house was painted 2 months ago AND there are 7!!! Yes 7 factories around,, and the biggest Methane factory in Europe. I have severe asthma and my health has gone extremely worse since I live here. If I had known this I would have never moved here but now I have no choice . I have purchased 2 Winix Zero pro ( using them with plasma off as you recommend) ,2 Levoit 300 S for other rooms and just ordered a Levoit vital 200s for my bedroom as you recommended me in another video.But the worse accumulation is in the living room so I need something extremely powerful to complement my Dyson but in a budget,,, I am spending a fortune in air purification units. Thanks in advance Pd,,, I don’t mind using multiple devices or concerned about noise levels,,, I am rewatching all your videos trying to find a solution but I thing u can help me better. The option between Coway or Levoit is because other devices you recommend are not available in Spain like the IQ air ( not even the Levoit 600s but I can order from Amazon Italy). Thanks for your amazing and informative videos mate I highly appreciate them 🙏
@HouseFresh
@HouseFresh 16 дней назад
Both the Levoit Core 600S and Coway 250/300 have bonded filters which might create a problem as you may need to replace the carbon more often - same issue with the Dyson. What about using 2 more Winix Zero Pro in that room as they are available in your region with well priced filters and having most the same brand/model will make life a little easier when it comes to filter replacements? The big benefit for VOC is that you can swap out the carbon more regularly until its reduced without having to buy the particle filter as well.

For large spaces, did you test the Medify MA-112 and Coway Airmega 400 or even the Airmega Pro X? These score highest on other publications, and given the price and size one can see why... I'm always looking to compare the best combination of performance vs noise vs power draw - on basically all devices this is around the middle fan speed at most. I wish air purifier reviewers did noise-normalized performance tests on all these categories.
@HouseFresh
@HouseFresh 4 месяца назад
Not tested those buy very much want to test both the Coways as I like their other devices. Have reviewed a few Medify devices and I always found the genuine filters ridiculously priced but will also eventually get around to this device for testing. I also want to test and review the IQAir Atem X but $1300! Love your idea and have already started to test larger devices for performance at different speeds so will make sure to get the middle fan speed.

Hopefully I get a reply back and thank you in advance! I’m doing resin 3D printing which emits pretty toxic fumes and VOC’s. I was looking at a puroair with a HEPA 14 filter would that be enough for those really small particles/ VOC’s?
@HouseFresh
@HouseFresh Месяц назад
VOCs and gasses in general are only removed by carbon. The best “cheap” air purifier with a good amount of carbon would be the Winix 5500-2. I would avoid any that use bonded filters that combine the carbon and particle filter as in your use case you may need to replace the carbon more regularly so won’t want to waste money/create waste by replacing both parts. Hope that helps, happy to answer more questions.

What do you think about shark neverchange. I was thinking about getting the Shark Neverchange for 300 dollars. It's for a house and we have a dog, 2 cats and a 5 year old. I plan on moving it between the living room and basement.
@HouseFresh
@HouseFresh Месяц назад
Have received a lot messages about the Shark Neverchange so will need to test soon. In all my years, most filters that’s promise that they don’t need to change usually don’t match up to expectations but will go in with an open mind. I did like the build quality of the shark hp102 but is generally too high cost for the performance to make it a device I recommend.

I noticed CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) was not mentioned whatsoever and is arguably the most important factor as no matter what unit you use it will need to keep up and beat the rate at which particulates and pollution are generated within an indoor space. It seems, without this metric, the review is only capturing an incomplete result. Your thoughts?
@HouseFresh
@HouseFresh 3 месяца назад
I agree CADR is super useful in identifying good air purifiers and our own testing is often used to check that this data matches real world performance.We have found a small number errors in the EnergyStar CADR database and some manufacters don't send their device for tests so we don't won't to only rely on that alone. But it is something we always consider as you can see in our reviews: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9cw8mRx0zHE.htmlsi=_pdd_soLzCZfMb5-&t=312 I didn't go into too much detail in this video as it was already getting pretty long but will make sure to include this data in any tables we produce - we had good feedback from someone saying it would be good to have a table of data at the end to list all the information and CADR would be a good additon to here. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

No the Coway Ap15122hh which we reviewed housefresh.com/coway-airmega-ap-1512hh-review/ is still a good unit but is slightly beaten but the newer devices we have reviewed this year. thank you. For this space assuming you have 8ft ceiling you will need 224 cfm for 4.8 air changes per hour. I tested the IQAir Atem car model and it was the best we saw for the car but did feel very high priced for the low level of CADR so wouldn't reccomend for your situation. If you like Air Doctor I would look at the 3000 housefresh.com/airdoctor-ad3000/ as that would have enough CADR for your space and you could leave it on a lower fan speed for reduced noise levels. But you could also look at any of my top picks from this video like the Levoit Vital 200S and Winix 5500-2 as they are both suitable for this room space. If it was me I would go for a device with a higher CADR like the Levoit Core 600S or EverestAir as you could keep your air clean with a lower fan speed so less noisy but would cost more initially. Stick to what's getting views or include it as part of a larger review. Hi Lynne, you didn't mention the size for the dining room but assuming its no bigger than 350 sq ft, then I would get a device like the Vital 200S, Winix 5500-2 or Winix C545 for the living room and then for the bedroom I would choose cheaper/smaller devices like Levoit Vital 100S, Winix A230 or Taotronics AP003 (also called Lorell HEPA 420 in Walmart is $79 at the moment) I'm assuming you want best bang for buck with these choices. If you don't mind spending more money you could get more performance for less found with devices like the Levoit EverestAir/Air Doctor 3000 but they do come with a higher price with less cheap filters but are powerful enough to run on lower fan speeds and still keep your rooms clean. All of these options come with removal pre-filters which will make it much easier to keep on top of cleaning them - dirty pre-fitlers can really reduce performance if not cleaned regularly. Hope that helps and thanks for your comment!

Whats your opinion on smaller Levoit devices? I have small appartment with 18m2 living room and 9m2 bedroom. That Levoit 200s seems big for those rooms. I see in your backgroung Levois 300s I think, is it good?
@HouseFresh

For me the Levoit Core 300 size is the smallest I would go. Any smaller and the filter costs just cost too much for the amount of air you can clean. I am going to be putting out a video this week about the a device I found on Temu/AliExpress that goes into more detail about my reasoning for avoiding “mini” air purifiers. If the vital 200s is too big then you can look at the vital 100s which is all the same feature but in a small size. Got a review filmed, just need to edit!

Hey sorry missed this! You are right, its a minefield and its becase many of the bad actors in this space make it this way. Much easier to sell you overhyped underperformers when consumers are confused! If price is no issue then I would get a device like the Levoit EverstAir or Air Doctor 3000. Both of these performed super well in our particle removal test and you could use them on the lower speeds for reduced noise. If had to choose one I would likely choose the EverstAir as I prefer the look of it and it runs the quietest at its low speed but the Air Doctor has the benefit ofseperate carbon filters but this would be for odor issues rather than pollen. My full review for both devices are here: housefresh.com/levoit-everestair-review/ and housefresh.com/airdoctor-ad3000/ Got plans to create video reviews for both soon! thanks again for commenting.

Looks like a ionizer device that has a mode that could lead to lots of ozone. I don’t think it’s worth the risk to use as an air purifier. I don’t think any level of ozone is worth it and would stick to just mechanical filtration like hepa and activated carbon. Hope this helps, I haven’t tested it but this is just from the info I could see online for this device.

Will a smaller or less expensive air purifier do anything for cigarette smoke? It’s the only reason I’m looking for one. Comes in from neighbours. Was looking at the Winix 5500-2 previously
@HouseFresh
@HouseFresh 3 месяца назад
It depends on how severe the issue is. It's likely worth trying a cheap device like the Winix 5500-2, which has the most carbon in a cheap unit, and using it with its Plasmawave. Hopefully, it's enough, but if not, then you could look at more specialist devices.
@cadencedoherty9981
@cadencedoherty9981 3 месяца назад
@@HouseFresh Thanks for the reply. It seems there’s a lot of misinformation online about purifiers. If I could ask, when it says carbon helps filter the odours of the smoke - does that mean just the smell is handled by carbon, and then the harmful particulates are filtered by the HEPA filter?
@HouseFresh
@HouseFresh 3 месяца назад
@@cadencedoherty9981 Yeah sadly it's full of people saying lots of very different things usually to sell you something overpriced! So just the gases that include VOCs (which cause smell) are captured by the carbon and then the tiny particles are picked up by the HEPA. So for cigarette smoke you need both but many small air purifiers have such small amounts that the carbon becomes used up very quickly.

I installed a generic filter (almost half the price of a genuine one) into my Levoit 300S after 6 months of use. How efficient are these generic filters compared to the originals. Also I blew through my original filter with pressurised air like I do to my car air filter. Is it usable still?
@HouseFresh
@HouseFresh 4 месяца назад
I haven't had a chance to test many generic filters but I did recently test one for the Alen 45i with a filter from Pureberg and got the exact same result when we tested it in our test room. The fact that many DIY devices use non-HEPA grade fitlers and perform very well makes me thing that even if a generic filter isn't the same grade as the OEM filter it may still perform as well as single pass filtration is not that important with an air purifier. There is a great video on here that goes into a ton of detail on this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gaQTYrisieA.html I will do lots more testing with generic filters to prove this idea but my recommendation is that you should save your money and go with generic . For cleaning the filters, I would avoid using pressured air as it could damage the filter and that has been shown to effect performance, same with washing it. I would stick with new generic filters vs trying to clean existing ones. Hope that helps and thanks for the comment!

@@HouseFresh Thanks so much. I'll keep an eye out for your review of the Xiaomi Pro 4. The most common missing (or unobvious) part for me is around the carbon filtering. I don't want to just grab something and then find out a year later that it's been barely touching the carbon, which is our primary reason for getting it. It really annoys me that so many air purifier brands overexaggerate room sizes.
