@Someone Garnett and Giannis are better defensively unarguably. Giannis has the potential to be the very best so I hope he has the durability of Garnett and Dirk. But I still choose Dirk because I see him as the most skilled offensively. All three would be solid options to build a team around.

@@benh1026 Players of the past are worse than current players plain and simple. Jerry did a lot for the game but Giannis is better by a long shot. Giannis has a dpoy, 2 MVPS, and a finals mvp. The only thing jerry prolly has over him is career numbers and that won’t last to long the way Giannis is playing. Look at jerry west highlights the shit he was doing is elementary compared to todays league. If we’re rating players all time and comparing them to each other then we compare them in a vacuum and it’s pretty clear Giannis smokes jerry.

Every era builds upon the past ones, so it's completely unfair to fault players for being pioneers who paved the way for the modern game. Not to mention that he didn't have access to modern nutrition, sports science and training facilities either. You're talking about someone here who is one of the greatest scorers, passers and perimeter defenders of all time, had many great playoffs moments (despite what his finals record and lack of rings suggest, his nickname is Mr. Clutch for a reason), was extremely athletic for his time and his athleticism would probably hold up in today's NBA. He was 10x first team all-NBA, 2x second team, 4x first team all-defensive and 1x second team despite the award being introduced after a lot of his best seasons, won finals mvp on the losing team (the precedent hadn't been set yet since it was the first ever but very impressive nonetheless) and came really close to winning MVP multiple times. His game would actually translate really well to the modern nba if you gave him a bit of time to adapt. He would routinely take shots that would be deep 2s today while consistently being near the top of the league in TS% and led the league twice, and I have no doubt that he'd be able to turn them into 3s. This was without modern developments on jump shooting mechanics too. You're being hella disrespectful towards him and the other greats of the past my guy

That’s an accomplishment but it doesn’t really put him above other players for me just because they stopped doing that after the first NBA Finals. Like I’m pretty sure Lebron wins Finals MVP in 2014 2015 and 2018 if they still handed them out to the losing team.
