The 2010s in the NBA was an INSANE decade for trades as I have talked about before BUT… what about the worst of the worst? What about the truly terrible, awful, COMICALLY bad trades of this decade… WHAT HAPPENED to the worst nba trades of the 2010s?

How on earth did you forget the most underrated and debatably 2nd worst trade of the 2010s?: the Serge Ibaka to Orlando trade. That trade set the Magic back like 5 years and they're STILL feeling the ramifications of it. For those unaware: The Magic gave up two future all-stars in Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis (who both were traded for Paul George almost straight up a year later), a decent role player in Ersan Ilyasova (who was traded for Jerami Grant almost straight up as well), and a draft pick that became Tyrese Maxey for 1/2 a season of subpar play from Serge Ibaka, a fine role player in Terrence Ross, and a far from great Markelle Fultz.

Maybe... or maybe they had met him and talked to him, and decided to trade him before his ego ruined the franchise. Its kind of ironic its the only franchise he hasnt sabotaged, and ppl are still like 'what if they kept him?' The answer is pretty obvious isnt it?

IIRC OKC is just short of $4mil to sign Harden. Maybe that's the big red flag for them, but to be fair they didn't do themselves favors by signing Perkins (his money could've been the difference between Harden and no Harden).
@rome8180
@rome8180 6 месяцев назад
That doesn't excuse it. When you have a Finals team, you pay the tax. The amount Harden wanted was only like $3 million more than what they offered him. The tax bill would not have been very high.
@TheHuskyK9
@TheHuskyK9 6 месяцев назад
People forget the extra context of the Harden trade. Not only did Harden want the star money, he also wanted to be a starter, but OKC wanted him to stay as a 6th man. And so, Harden wanted out.

The Jazz got the Nuggets twice in the 2010s actually. They sent a 2nd round pick and cash for Gobert in 2013 who went on to 3x DPoY (should have been 6), and 3x All NBA while in Utah. The 2nd round pick was out of the league after 3 seasons, I think the cash was like 2 million. Whoever was scouting international bigs for Denver back then deserved a raise. They drafted Jokic, Gobert, and Nurkic in back-to-back drafts with late 1st or 2nd round picks... The Jazz have gone on to turn Gobert into Walker Kessler, and Keyonte George, 2 seasons of Talon Horton Tucker and the Timberwolves 2025 unprotected, 2027 unprotected, and 2029 top 4 protected 1st round picks, plus 1st round swaps in 2026 and 2028. The Gobert to T'wolves trade also is mostly responsible for the Jazz having the Lakers top 4 protected 2027 first as well. When considering 7 years of high level, game winning play, plus all the future assets now, all for a 2nd round pick and a couple mill in cash; that's about as lopsided as it gets.

I'm surprised you didn't do the 2016 draft day trade of Ibaka for Oladipo and Sabonis (Magic and OKC). Ibaka was past his prime and both Sabonis and Oladipo became AS.

If Blake Griffin and Kyrie Irving had been teammates on the Clippers, they would have made a very strong duo. Acquiring Mo Williams and Jamario Moon was the Clippers' worst mistake.
@Amm17ar
@Amm17ar 6 месяцев назад
Id argue they had a better PG for the first few years for that core in CP3 and he wasnt able to do a ton. Paul was the best PG in the league to run that offense and was a big factor in Blake and Jordan getting tons of great looks off rolls and for Griffin pops. I think Kyrie would have hurt the teams potential cuz he was a score first guard. Blake Griffin might not have been as good without Paul imo. Also, they would have most certainly still done the Paul deal and included Kyrie and New Orleans would have demanded Kyrie as part of that deal. Maybe it would have saved them Eric Gordon or something, but I still think Kyrie never plays for LA even if they kept the pick.
@rome8180
@rome8180 6 месяцев назад
I think you should have included the Pelicans trading down from #4 in 2019. They could have paired Zion with Darius Garland. They needed a point guard. But instead they traded down for picks 8 and 17 and drafted Jaxson Hayes and Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Neither did much in New Orleans, and neither is on team now. I understand that hindsight is 20/20, but even at the time I was pissed they didn't just keep the pick and select Garland.

I actually think the first trade is really not that bad when you consider they likely can’t afford to trade for CP3 without dumping Baron’s albatross contract. Sure Kyrie would’ve been better for them long run but considering CP3 and Kyrie were pretty damn comparable at the time before Lob City fell apart I don’t really see it working out any better for them. Plus they got a good haul off trading CP3 away eventually anyways

An additional layer to that Kings-Sixers trade: the Celtics would use that pick on Romeo Langford who never developed for them BUT he was then used in the trade that got the Celtics Derrick White. Meaning, the Sixers gave the Celtics two architects to their playoff ineptitude 😂

Funny how two of the trades on here (Clippers/Cavs and Thunder/Rockets) happened because of cheapskate owners. A big reason for the salary dump of Davis for the Clippers was Donald Sterling trying to pay his team as little as possible.

It’s funny how things work out, yes the nuggets trading Donovan Mitchell was an objectively bad trade but it all worked out and now they’re set up to win multiple championships. If they had Mitchell in addition to Murray I don’t think it would’ve worked out, Mitchell would’ve forced his way out eventually and the nuggets wouldn’t have gotten MPJ, Aaron Gordon, etc.

the mitchell trade was ABSOLUTELY GREAT for denver, denver already had a superstar guard in murray, they needed guard defense, so mitchel was extremely redundant for them, not keeping is what led to them gettting kcp who is the absolute perfect fit in that line up, having the mitchel trade here is stupid

Yeah, but for Trey Lyles? If they kept Mitchell for even half the season, they would have got a lot more from the trade. Definitely not "ABSOLUTELY GREAT"
