If a armor made me invincible i wouldent wear it, even if it looked amazing :P . The game is easy enough as it is most of the time without super armor (the exception being early on in survival mode). I avoid certain perks or perk-combos for the same reason (blitz + stealth as a example).
+GaratghDeloi imma be honest with you nobody believes that shit, ill give you benefit of the doubt but this reminds me of people saying theyve true life(meaning a playthrough where when you die you stop playing that playthrough its actual death) beat fallout new vegas on very hard andd hardcore like not tryna be mean cause for all i know your telling the truth but even if you are would you do that to yourself 😩 it literally makes less sense to me than lying about video skills on youtube like at least you get to make your dick feel big when you lie, if you actually do it youve just spent 200 hours going "i shouldve warmed up more on darksouls" like damn
It's funny to me that the Pack- a bunch of yahoos in an amusement park, have better armor than pre-war Marines. To be fair, they are all a bunch of yahoos. not just the Pack
Ik that honestly bugged me, the packs heavy armor is made of like bones and bricks and colorful clothing like at least with the operators/disciples its arguable, though i understand why cause noone would wanna wear the new armors
Thought that the X-01 was made like right before the bombs dropped, as a prototype (Didn't remnants make it into working power armor?). Yeah dude it kinda don't make sense. Military makes the most badass power armor prototype (Let alone fully functioning), ignores the fact they should try to keep it 'SOMEWHAT' secret from their enemies, then pops a few of them fuckers in nukaworld 'cause you know, "They fund us. ALOT." or what else? ..."Advertising."?
😂 ikr and its quality ass content too idk how this guy has so little subs it honestly makes me sad. Like especially information wise this is hands down the best channel ive found, he explains things very in depth which a fallout youtuber needs to be because the fallout fans are so particular/pretentious
For me, the armor has to look right. Protection is important, but if it doesn't look right, I won't use it. I hate synth armor and never use it. It just looks stupid, with the possible exception of their helmets. For my settlers and followers, I usually go with a particular theme. The same goes for myself.
well my char is very high leveled and i don't even care about armor anymore. i wear a coat (modded jokers coat) and nothing else. now i try a new style (disciples). as long as it looks good i wear it
How can anything be better than a stepping stone between Combat Armor and a Power Armor? Especially crappy Raider produce. Still gonna use Marine Assault Armor, just for the looks of it.
I know the Inquisitor armor is just so nice looking especially with the Inquisitor helmet combined with being as skinny as you can and the wearing fancy Suit & Tie underneath it, you almost look Inhuman
Spiky7700 Not gonna use helmet, I have a Fedora~ Do you, by any chance, also find power armor ugly? Tis all bulky after all, just like Marine armor, more so even.
***** yes i hate the new power armor. but not only because of the looks but also because you are not so fast as in the old games. and for the marine armor: for example look at the feet. that looks stupid. big legs and mini boots. and all the bags and stuff. it just doesn't look good in my opinion
agreed the hats look stupid paired with Armour mine looks OK because I use the operators fancy suit and the fedora looks OK but I'm lvl 95 so that extra damage resistance doesn't really matter to me
I really appreciate these videos as they don't spoil any of the quests of the Nuka World DLC. I have the season pass and all, since before release, but I haven't gotten into the DLC yet because I recently started a new character and I don't feel like going into Nuka World on my first for some reason. Good job!
Spiky7700 I think I can handle that. I mean, if they put the Nuka World quest start at lvl 25, then I think it is designed for you to handle it. Besides, I got a powerful arsenal.
Such a helpful video! I really like the SENTINEL legendary effect on clothing since it reduces 15% damage when not moving. Extremely helpful when every piece is Sentinel.
Personally i wouldnt do that unless i was playing survival cause it just makes the game no fun, i just go for sprinters effect on the legs and then cunning and fortifying everything else
A group of animal obsessed maniacs armour that was flung together in a few minutes is better then a pre war designed aquatic warfare armour SEEMS LEGIT
Regardless of stats, I know I won't bother with anything other than marine armor. Every other set looks to be made of junk, save for leather armor and combat armor, which kind of resembles actual body armor Synth armor in particular is like it was made of destroyed toilets for the most part. Take the 6 marine pieces, put a ballistic woven underclothing under them, that will make you quite durable already.
correct, the weight of the armor makes it easier to be detected. Also if the armor weighs too much you can't move will enough equipment sometimes which just makes it not work
+Vincent Valentine the legendary buffs of armor can help stealth builds effectiveness. fore example Agility makes you sneak better and Perception make you more accurate in VATS, so if you get those benefits as a stealth build, it makes you more effective
I'm going through RU-vid at 2AM and I just have to say......................... thank you man. You actually sat down and compared them. Usually an armor or weapon guide online is just about finding it rather than showing its fully upgraded form and mods. I'm currently halfway through NukaWorld and wanted to add flavor to my character's outfits, this really helps out!
So you are telling me that Pre-war extremely advanced military armor that utilizes a combination of ballistic fiber and lightweight strong metals is not as good a some cheap scrap metal that some greedy or blood thirty raider put together? I'd also like to point out that I have legendary "Assault" Marine Armor (which is basically the same for inqusitors armor) which has more protection for both Energy and Ballistic resistance, as well as a 10% speed bonus buff, 25% Dmg/Energy resist while standing still, and Perception and Agility buffs(which aid my sneak ability and VATS accuracy). NO THANKS, my assault marine armor is cool looking and great, I would have to grind for legendary drops for hours on end to find Operator or Disciples legendary armor just to get the same effects and they don't look good imo
Wow, that's some serious weight. I only play on survival mode (yes, I'm a sucker) so with lone wanderer (seldom have anyone but dogmeat) I'm lucky to have 250-275 carry weight limit, Guess I'll have to put some points into STR! Would be awesome to see a video comparing the best dmg resistances by weight armor available.
That's cool to know. My lvl 90 Sniper build relies on ballistic weave, as sneaking is my forte. Thus weight is utmost in my consideration for her armour. But, with my Heavy weapons build, I kinda derped and went full BoS, BEFORE I unlocked the ballistic weave! :/ So this video has saved me so much research. Glad I never went all-out to get the marine armour for him now. I'll send his butt to Nuka World ASAP! Absolutely love these videos, Oxhorn. You'll know yourself how time consuming it can be to research EVERY mod, settlement improvement, perk, weapon, armour piece, companion etc and fitting them into your specific build, thus how great it is when you find well made, well informed guides (spoiler free) that can help you along that bit faster. Thank you and great work
Just in case, Oxhorn. When you compared armors at the start, you looked at legendary vs non legendaries. Legendary armor pieces offer also 2 more Ballistic and Energy resistance. So the Heavy Synth chestpiece has actually 47 Ballistic and 52 Energy resistance.
After joining the Brotherhood you can apply the BOS mod to combat armor, it adds rad resistance and you can add the leaded mod and have a rad resist that's higher than the marine armor.
Thank so much Oxhorn for showing the Raiders armor as I just finished Powerplay and I strip the dead and now I can upgrade the best choices as my character wears Ballistic military fatigues or green shirt and combat boots plus the cap and a mix of good armor pieces. Im already wearing Raider chest improved so now to go upgrade the arms and legs. Your videos have helped me often, I always know I can count on you for any F4 info.
1:00 the fully upgraded silver shroud suit has 51 BDR and 51 EDR or something like that. I used it for a while. Even accidentally bumped into the special mechanist convo. Automatron was my first DLC.
They may be stronger than the Assault/Inquisitor Marine Combat armor, but one thing to take into account is that they are incredibly heavy and the ultra light mods even require more perks to use. Lightening Mod's aside, you've got 1 leg weighing about the same as the CHEST for the Marine armor. This weight is something to consider in regular play, but when you jump into survival mode, these high tier raider armors are flat out unviable unless you feel like carrying 1 weapon, a bit of ammo, and scarcely picking up loot or scrap. I did dislike that they made these new armors stronger than the pinnacle of pre-war infantry armor, but considering the weight is comparing a walnut to a truck, I guess it balances itself out
So glad this is here! Every thread that I found asking what has the highest possible amounts either never answered the question or I didn't bother digging deep enough. I was just curious, since I'm sticking to stuff that doesn't clip through eli's on vanilla body
Oxhorn, can you do some testing to see if min/maxing your armor really matters that much? like in the long run do those 10 points actually make a huge difference? Like skyrim had an armor cap, where points after that didn't matter, is that the case in Fallout 4? is there a point where extra armor makes little to no difference?
Oxhorn, i've got to say, i love how informative your videos are as a whole. this one in particular gives me greater appreciation for the disciples' armor beyond their general aesthetics. thanks a bunch and keep up your awesome work! :D
Thanks for making this video on the best set to use, for my character i'm using disciples arms, legs, and helm with the pack chest piece and torn shirt and jeans.
Thank you SO MUCH for this video. I had no idea ballistic clothes could be under armor clothes too. I'd been using it on one-piece items such as the courser uniform and different dresses and tuxedos. I will use your example and go get some of that ugly Armored Green Shirt and Combat boots. I've also been wearing around a mixed set of operators and disciples gear, but I'm missing a couple of pieces. Even after killing all the raiders some of my pieces are still not the "heavy" type, and only one is legendary. Time to go raider hunting.
What baffles me is even though the synth armor should be structurally the strongest, it barely covers shit on you, because it's made specifically to shield the most important parts of a synth. what's even more confusing is that some random raiders scrapping together an assload of shitty metal somehow is more protective (if heavier) than specially engineered combat armor at the height of america's military might. that DOES properly cover everything it should. but of course that's absolutely trumped by the euphoric might of the ballistic weave trilby, god bethesda really didn't put the polish into this game they should've, mods can certainly fix it but christ.
The Marine armour has been sitting rusted for 200 years... Only really touched by children of atom, and you can see their base marine armour is worn down to paper.
Small nitpick: If you want to compare the ballistic and energy resistance on armors you probably shouldent compare legendary to non legendary armors (you compared a non legendary inquisitors marine armor too legendary synth armor). Legendary variants has slightly higher stats ontop of the legendary effect. Either stick to all legendary (when possible, i dont think theres any leg pieces for the marine armor) or all non legendary.
Yeap. Each legendary piece adds 2 to ballistic and energy so when he compared them at the end and got 9 more ballistic with his old legendary set, it was actually 1 less than a legendary variant of the new gear. Legendary raider gear does exist so the operator/disciple combo blows everything else out of the water.
Oh! And if you're farming legendary raider armor on survival I found a great place...east of nuka world red rocket there's always a random encounter. After you get that run towards kiddie kingdom till the game loads that area, then run back for another encounter.
The best far harbor armor is the legendary variants marine armor pieces-that the merchants sell. and if the marine has awesome defense and looks like it’s not scrap, I’m wearing it.
the operators also have goggles and glasses that add armor with little to no additional weight. Both also give you perception and look pretty good to boot. For me I care about functionality over looks any day if it helps keep me alive regardless of difficulty.
Technically, in order to be a perfect comparison, you'd need both sets to either have a legendary prefix or not, since legendary prefixes add +2 to energy and ballistic damage resistance.
All that armor and yet the Armored Mechanists Suit still beats them all out with a staggering 182 ballistic and energy resistance while only weighing 20 lbs.
The Assualt Marine version of the armor has greater ballistic but less energy resistance than the inquistors version. I therefore question your assertion that the inquistors version is the best
I'm still using the Marine armor with Assult mod with recon top with Free fall combat legs and the Problem solver and Admirals friend and December's child
I just piece together whatever Legendary effects I want that comes on the strongest piece of armor. I try not to care how it looks- just what effects are the best combo I can find. It would be nice if the armor would look better though.
I am so happy my son showed me your channel. You're very informative and detailed, I love watching your videos 100% AWESOME!!!! thank you for the information you share. 😘😊🎮🎮
Oxhorn: if I'm in a rad area I just pop on a hazmat suit. Me: wait there is more than power armor in the game! Also I have an Infinite supply of fusion cores 0 mods.
I'm currently rocking a mix of Marine and Heavy Leather: Heavy Leather Chest and Right Arm and everything else is from the stock Assault Marine armor with Ballistic Weave Army Fatigues. I don't have the best armor mods since I don't have the Armorer perk yet. It looks pretty good to be honest. And provides decent protection. I'll probably end up changing some stuff around but I'll be keeping the Assault Marine Helm, and Hev. Leather Right arm.
I wear the lightest "Ultra-light" pieces of Sharp armor I can find, the Captain's Hat, Road Goggles, and Military Fatigues (+2 Agility) w/ maxed Ballistic Weave. Stops plenty of damage, maxes Intelligence (27 at night with Berry Mentats), maxes Action Points, and leaves lots of free carry-weight room before my Strong Back has to kick-in.
On what difficulty are you playing? I'm on Normal and one of the first things I noticed is how plentiful legendary enemies are in Nuka world. I'll fight a small horde of ants and there'll be at least two legendaries running around. Also quite a few legendary raiders, whom I pickpocketed their legendary items from. Perhaps my game is just lucky.
I wear the fancy suit from the operators and the asbestos lined disciples chest peace sounds ridiculous but actually looks pretty cool looks like some armored hit man of the waste land or something and I have a metal right leg it has the legendary martyrs perk the chameleon metal left arm just the light Armour though and some operators left leg all together it looks pretty sweet not to bulky looking and looks OK with the armoired fedora and add that and It has like 219 ballistic and 224 energy oh and forgot to add the heavy operators right arm looks cool with sturdy combat right arm areas as well
Oxhorn you can replace the Disciples Metal legs and arms with Disciples Spiked legs and arms, it has the same energy resistance but it is a lot better looking.
Inquisitors Marine and Assault are literally the same minus the chest piece which provide an extra point towards ballistic or energy based on choice. Inquisitors is not the Zealot's set get it right people.
Me doesn't give a flip about how I look and only about my erg and dmg resistant. but every one else "I dont wanna look bad." "Well it wont matter when your dead."
lol it's so stupid, the assault and inquisitor marine set should be the best in the game. Pre War armor that bridges the gap between standard combat armor and power armor. How do silly raiders make stronger armor than pre war armor technicians. Only the institue, brotherhood of steel and enclave should be able to have stronger armor than that
I hate how they don't allow us to put ballistic weave on so much clothing from this dlc. Why would I wear Operator suit for example when it has ridiculous 1 damage resistance when compared to ballistic weave suit with 110 damage resistance and 110 energy resistance...
you can always download a mod that allows you to put it on anything. I put it in kellogs armor then with extended armorsmith mod i can wear combat armor on top of it. also with conceal armor mod the combat armor is invisible.
Lets be honest, Armor doens't matter if you got a whole set of Sentinal armor. 75-90% damage resistance with 75% additional explosive resistance, 30% more with Lone Wanderer, and 25% more with Alpha Pack, wtih an additional 25% with med x makes you immune more or less anyway. Your taking something like 1% of explosive damage, 2% of everything else, reduced by armor or something like that while standing still.
If your high level just run around the outskirts of nuka world it spawns shit tons of those new ants and crickets out there and i couldn't believe how many were legendary. It was literally like 1/5-1/6 like it was honestly ridiculous(though im like level 116 so idk how much of a difference that might make)
oxhorn if you right click while in the pipboy it will zoom in to just the pipboy. that way screen won't be wasted on hand and arm. good for if you are trying to show something to your viewers
Hey Oxhorn, have you found any new raider armor? as in I found raider armor that's not listed but shares the same name as the regular Commonwealth variants, but it looks much different and cooler... heavier framed.
My favorite Armor sets in the game: (Not counting all power and most clothes) Pack Armor Raider Armor Children of Atom Robes (Devoted with Ballistic is a completely viable armor) Mariner Armor (specifically the children of Atom designed) Trapper Armor Leather Armor (specifically the ...I think it's called the Wastelander set) ...off the top of my head that's all I got
You should have also done the strapped and spiked because they vary in different types of protection. (Strapped disciple armor has more energy resistance) (Spiked disciple armor has better ballistic)
I go with Recon Marine Armor with the Marine Suit underneath on my Male character- Railroad/Minuteman faction (Improved and lightweight mods, I know its not the best when compared to ballistic weave but it looks cool) On my Female walkthrough I go with Disciples metal spike armor with the Disciple torn shirt underneath- Institute/Overboss faction ( Improved and lightweight mods)
The problem with this kind off "best" comparison is the legendary infusions. There are "better" pieces available but I still use a fully upgraded synth arm piece with +1 strenght and perception. Same goes with all my other pieces. I also have a synth leg piece that auto stimpacks when my health is below 10%, so why use the new pieces from all the DLC's?
+heroicxidiot I noticed that indeed. It is just no matter how much higher these specs are compared too the earlier armor pierces I'm still going too use my +1 strenght/ charisma/ endurance items even if it is just leather or raider because I think it is more usefull. I do change them when I find the same effect on better gear. Most of my pieces are now synth, with deep pockets because I want too take everything. On ps4, so no mods, I nees that junk!
why mods on xbox one or PC are so nice. Can just transfer the Legendary Effects to the armor you want to have instead of being stuck with inferior armor just because it has legendary effect =)
Hell I love putting on a full suit of disciples gear I use the spiked arms the metal chest and legs and it looks good for a rugged but tough as nails look especially if you put on some dark ass eye shadow and the eye shadow blemish with a modded rugged hairstyle tho some vanilla ones do work too I also have the strength and endurance legendary effect on all pieces and use Nishas reward knife and with all the perks revolving melee combat I could find the knife does 715 base damage if it has the cutless mod and since the legendary effect is "deals double damage if target is at full health" nothing can stop my character Edit- the under armor I use is from the courser strigadae mod it works perfectly with the disciples armor if it's got the base brown colour on it.
I just got the Marine assault armor from Far Harbor. I don't use the helmet, but I modded it all to ultra light. I'm keeping the armored battered fedora and sunglasses because that's better than the marine helmet. I also have armored army overalls underneath, so I've got over 350 ballistic and energy resistance. We'll see how it does when I sneak.
he got alot of the info wrong in the video, he is actually using much weaker marine armor, the assault marine armor is much better and the one you buy in the store with legendary mods is slight better than stock
As many stated, the look also factors in. Personally I usually go with Combat Armor. (with the addition of a mod that can make them invisible and let one tier look like another. Heavy armor that looks like medium is usually my thing) Synth armor just doesn't look right, same goes for metal and raider armor - I usually go from leather directly to combat. And then there is the weight. How good is armor when it completely fills out your weight limit.
He will never see this I'm sure he doesn't look at his old videos. However there is an exploit not a mod and exploit that allows you to use the Marine combat armor in order to mod any standard armor in the game. I have been able to wear 2 Marine combat armor underneath the Brotherhood of Steel combat armor the ones that work as an Under Armour are both versions which have a rad resistance. You can only wear 2 armors underneath and one on top but if you decide to take these armors off it starts to screw up everything. It does not seem to work very well with the Nuka World armors so I have been able to get a pretty decent rad resistant armor combination. It's a little strange when you try to mod out legendary armor for this purpose I tend to use standard or non legendary armor. I play on Xbox and I am not using any mods. All exploits are vanilla
While disciples will be better than marine armor in the commonwealth and nuke world, marine armor gives an edge for far harbor, due to the higher levels of radiation around the island.
Inquisitor marine armor isn't better than assault marine armor. The only difference is the damage/energy resistance is flip from 50/49 with the assault to 49/50 with the inquisitor.
God, but the pack stuff isn't that much worse for the weight difference. Looked like it weighed half as much, I'm curious how this stuff stacks up pound per pound.
Assault and inquisitors are the same in stats, only difference is on the chest piece Assault gives one more ballistic and Inquisitors gives one more energy.
