God these reporters do my head in. "will you sing the national anthem" The dude's German, not English - why would he sing the national anthem and who cares?
It’s a valid question, if you’re a manager of a national team, then it does show pride sing, and he might sing, look at Martinez he Spanish but he belts out the Portuguese anthem, personally it would be good if he sang it
I'm pleased, I don't care what Jamie carragher or any of the doubters say, this guy has a winning mentality and is a great tournament manager. We've had 8 years of Gareth and a few months of Lee carsley, both nice guys but not winners. I genuinely think this is a great appointment. Were behind you Thomas 👍
Garath was needed to build England’s culture from the ground up. He built a generation up that now expect to get to semi finals and finals as a minimum. He’s built a good culture and identity to England. I agree England now need that coach that can set up tactically in the big games but what Southgate has done is arguably more important. England have had good tactical coaches in the past, Southgate was the only one who understood what needed to be done
@benhayes I'll give you one thing, in 2016 after the humiliating exit to Iceland English football was on the floor, did Gareth improve us, sure he did but he didn't have that ruthlessness to go one further. The euro final against Italy proved that, we were one nil up after 4 minutes at home and he parked the bus! Italy has to old slow defenders in bonucci and chiellini and with the pace up top we had in that game we should of been ruthless. For me the only positive I can take from Southgate reign is beating Germany at a major tournament. Euro 2021 we had home advantage and were in the ' easier ' side of the draw, Russia 2018 we were in the ' easier ' side of the draw, Euro 2024 we were in the 'easier ' side of the draw, as soon as we come up against a decent team we got found out. I thank southgate for his time and the players ' loved ' him but he wasn't ruthless enough, tuchel has that winning mentality and the fact he isn't English is a plus, it is just a job to him no emotional attatchment.
@@GazH-zc7jj I can’t believe you don’t actually appreciate it, definition of spoiled by success. Southgate made 2 finals, a semi final and a final. With a team that had only ever made 1 semi final in over 50 years since they won the WC. You can argue lucky draw all you like, but everyone was saying the Dutch would walk over England in the Semi’s, England dominated the Dutch. In Qatar everyone said France would destroy England, England were the dominant team and, if they were more clinical and a bit luckier with ref decisions/ conceding a wondergoal, they would’ve won. Even when they played bad they still found a way to claw back into the game, and some point you have to stop saying luck and start to appreciate the fact Southgate installed that fighting culture into England. I don’t disagree that England now need that tactical manager, but if Tuchel inherited the state English football was in when Southgate did, I doubt he would’ve reached a single Semi, let alone the record Southgate had
@benhayes no offence mate but did you watch the euros? The first half against the Netherlands was the only time we looked good! The rest of the tournament we were terrible, and your praising soutjgate? Please explain to me then why Harry Kane had a terrible euros, Phil foden had a terrible euros, Jude Bellingham had a way under par euros WHEN last season at their clubs: Harry Kane - 44 goals in 45 games for bayern ( 8 in champions league ) Phil clean-up 20+ premier league goals for man city, premier league winner and star player award, Jude Bellingham- 20 goals in la liga, la liga winner, champions league winner, golden boy award winner, Why were these players so bad at Euro 2024, SOUTHGATE and his tactics and systems, and you praise him for him bringing that winning mentality? Scraped out of the group, needed an injury time overhead kick to take Slovakia to extra time, ride our luck for 120 minutes against the swiss and miraculously won a penalty shootout, then a last gasp winner against the dutch who in hindsight we deserved to beat them for found out against spain, come on mate get realistic southgate is a championship level manager at best!!!
Talking about playing well in a game we lost to France sums up our embarrassing mentality. We lost that's all that matters. Another time we came up against a side better than us and crumbled under the pressure. Imagine France losing a QF then saying well we played well and pushed them close. Not a chance.
As an England fan, I’m so excited! Yes Tuchel’s German but he’s the right man to take the job. He plays attacking football and has better tactics then Southgate. He’s a serial winner and will take us to the next level! Let’s back Tuchel guys!
The fact a German manager respects and understands england and the manager role, to me I respect that more than anything it's one thing to be born in this country and its another to adopt it, grow up england and good luck Tuchel
It’s great to know that this man is now England’s 4th foreign manager after Fabio Capello (Italian),Sven-Goran Eriksson (Swedish) and Steve McClaren (Dutch)
I've never felt more ambivalent about something than this. On one hand, we have a clear upgrade over both Southgate and Carsley. An experienced manager who has won trophies at four different clubs and has managed high profile players. Great. But on the other hand, I never even gave a moments thought, or even considerd the idea of having a German as the manager of England. It feels a bit weird tbh. It boils down to the lack of quality English managers (because there is only one, Eddie Howe).
He is the best man for the job, If he wins no one will care where he is from. Winning a World Cup is what matters everything else is irrelevant IMO. In 50 years no one will talk about him being German if we win. I couldn't care less if he sings the national anthem or not he is clearly going to do his best to win ands that's all that matters. He is a proven manager, he is good at winning cup football and he has worked with many of the players before, what more could you want with who is available?
I absolutely love tommy tuchel, the man will build a team no one wants to play, For me he has to world cup to prove himself, and must win the euros to keep himself as the England gaffer.
Would be good if he did though, I do feel that if you’re managing a country it does bring people together a national anthem look at Martinez he Spanish but he sings the Portuguese anthem
A Very intelligent man on a lot of levels....His English and grammer is bertter then most natives......better the Arry Rednapp ....would not to be hard
@@Jetdale200Canalhouse20 My only worry is if the players will actually understand him, they are not used to hearing a national manager that speaks the language properly. Kane might need to take on a new role translating his English to Footballer.
National anthem? Really? Does it matter? He's there to end the cursed trophy drought for England and not to sing the national anthem forcibly! Football is beyond singing the national anthem of a country! Sure it is important but don't you want to win trophies to? It's high time to end the stigma of foreign coaches leading national teams! Football has to transpass all borders and boundaries! You cannot always get what you want, so you have to make the best of what you have, and as of now Thomas Tuchel is that BEST for the England national team!
@@alexanderpostings7208 The team will be judged for the trophy at the end of the day and not for singing the national anthem. National anthem is a personal choice. You cannot enforce it upon anyone. There will be patriots who might love their country more and choose not to sing it than ones who do sing it but maybe love their country a bit lesser. This is all subjective.
Tuchel class act your welcome to England 🏴 my friend, forget the nationality let your results do the talking, as we can see we have illegal immigrants arriving daily, your not illegal and you are very welcome in our country, good luck Thomas!!
Most of the English pandits must listen to Simon Jordan when he speaks about Thomas Tuchel....ignore all the other pundits especially Jimmy and Garry....these two have nothing good coming out of their mouths
Finally, it seems the best fans in the world can finally get behind the team now we have a German manager... Can someone tell me what the f**k has happened to the world in the last ten years!? 😂 😂 Honestly, not just in football, but everything in and around this country has lost the plot I swear. Glad he's happy to be an "English manager" 😂 I'll still be cheering them on, just with a slightly empty feeling inside haha!
Will he be singing the national anthem... Come on. Let's not start playing up to this kind of petty nonsense before the guy has even got started. I suppose tabloids have an excuse for this kind of garbage as it makes them money, but the people they're pandering to... embarrassing.
No in the history books it will say England won the competition. England will have a second star over the three lions. That makes it a England win the same thing can be said about a club manager. If Man City win the Premier League under Pep Guardiola does that make Manchester City's win illegitimate because Pep Guardiola's from Spain and not from the City of Manchester.
@callumhughes6448 every German and most of the rest of the footballing world will laugh, why not get the Brazilian midfield to swear allegiance to the king and find mbappes ancient scouser ancestors, England are a laughing stock and it's the FAs fault
Musiala and Haaland born in England but changed nationality it’s very Similar but I see where your coming from national coach should be from the nation
I've always said a country should be managed by a national coach BUT what were the ' English ' options? Lee carsley or Graham potter. When southgate resigned I wanted Eddie Howe but Saudicastle were never going to let Howe go, so to me instead of carsley or southgate 2.0 ( potter) we've gone for a manager who is a winner and has a winning mentality, what would you rather? Carsley or potter? Come on mate it's a no brainer.
