The BEST Bow Grip Position | How to place your hand in your bow grip with zero torque

I have seen a lot of people place their hands in the bow grip in a way that causes a lot of torque on the bow. This results in inconstant groups especially under pressure. I'll show you the Best way to put your hand in the grip for the least amount of torque, the strongest position which will result in better groups down range.
This technique works for compound, recurve, barebow and traditional archery.

to be honest, I am so happy to find out about this channel I just got started in archery and I want to make good habits from the start so hopefully, I can take part in competitions and maybe one day Olympics. The reason why this channel so important for me is because I live in India in a city called Kullu Manali population 40000 and there is no archery club or teacher and there is hardly any archer here in my city so I am all myself to learn the nearest place is 500km I can't go there so now I am on my own so I am happy to find such an amazing channel who can teach me the very basic also till intermediate. Thank You, JAKE Kaminski.

A couple days ago I changed my bow hand to hold it properly from your instruction. It immediately changed my alignment so my elbow/finger line now goes through the grip. And that put more of my arrows in the gold. You are a genius, thank you

wow- learned alot! 10 yr + ago i quit as fast as i started bows! Reason: i bought cheepest thin arrows and 31 inch was way long for me! i shot it and it came back at me from target! arrow flexed sooo bad and tip too heavy .. Radar for danger went off- gave bow away ! alot research and i want try again !

So I shot my second 1440 tournament today, and had A LOT of arrows go of to the right or left of the target and a lot of misses because of that. Only now do I realize I was absolutely holding my bow wrong. This video is definitely helpful bro thank you so much!

Thank you amazing video. Today I was doing exactly what you said not to do regarding of the pressure and pivot point . No wonder it was so hard to draw the bow and end up nailing in to a tree one arrow obviously it was total lost it was 3 inches in to the tree. I practice what you mentioned to apply pressure close to the wrist like pushing someone to stop and it works. I can pull the bow with no straggle and keep it in place without crossing the life line. By the way I am using a compound bow with 66 pounds of draw weight so for me it is critical to keep everything aligned otherwise pulling it is a bit of a straggle. Great video thank you again. By the way all your knowledge works perfectly on compound since I have never shot a re-curved bow.

Hey dude, I'm in the UK and returning to archery after 5 years. I find your content awesome. I'm not sure how affiliate links work, but your amazon links are for the amazon US site. You might get more return from amazon if you put up some more regional specific links - I for one would use UK links if you put them up.

I've been dealing with bow torque with my compound for the last 2 months and couldn't figure out why even if I changed my grip it would twist harshly to the left in my hand. Tried out what you recommended last night at the range and wow. Problem solved. Best explanation I've found online. Thanks Jake!

Ah, finding it difficult to imagine I only have a stump for a bow hand! I get the point (or the blunt) but it's uncomfortable to think of.

Hi Jake , great video on bow grip. For bow hunting grip instead of tucking fingers under , if l was to leave finger left open and let rest on grip to hold bow instead of using bow sling , what problems do you see what could happen . Still using 45 degrees grip.

First day of shooting and realized major soreness cause I putting pressure directly into the pit between the thumb and index (which your video explained not to do). But after seeing your video and trying to apply it to the pressure point more, the palm keeps sliding and the handle is back to digging into that pit.. ugh....unless I deliberately close the mid-section of my thumb and index knuckle to prevent it .. but feels weird..

Ive paid for some classes and I know they taught me this but man that bit about the "pushing like you dont have a hand and its your 'stump'" sunk in and clicked for me. Ive been shooting a larger gripped lower poundage bow for a while dealing wih an injury then I switched back to my hunting rig which is a r/d longbow and my shots were going way left high, but today and yesterday I put this to my bow (really narrow grip) and I found exactly what you were describing with the pressure and I shot some fantastic sets with my longbow. Thank you very much !

Hi, good morning, I'm Miky and I'm from Italy, I apologize for the English, Google translations help me a question if I may. Is the grip, in the hand pressure part, straight, or diagonally? Is the pressure from the thumb to the waist line of the hand parallel or diagonal? thank you very much I'm Miky Michele Italy.
