I have had great success extracting broken bolts of all sizes with a combination of left-handed drill bits and Irwin spiral ez outs (used only with a tap wrench or in tight spots a tap socket, NEVER an adjustable wrench), but this set looks awesome. I especially love the bit guides since drilling dead center is usually the biggest challenge.
That is definitely the best looking kit I have seen also! I have tried so many with nothing but frustration, so I have been removing them by welding a nut to the broken piece. Works great every time, and the heat from the weld helps it come right out. Great video! 👍 👊
That looks a lot like the BluePoint one. I’ve got the Mayhew, but found the BluePoint on OfferUp for $40. I’m thinking about getting it because I like the drill guides to help you keep it centered s well as the nuts that go on the actual extractor.
I have the exact kit. It says KS tools (brilliant tools ) on the box of mine but its probably just some generic kit is all. He has the amazon link in the description
Did you grease that puppy up before you put in the new bolt? With any sort of grease to have some better luck next time you might want to remove the part?
for 25$ ill give it a whirl, whats your pick for removing brake line nuts, picked up a set of line wrenches but they still strip everything... the flare nuts must need to be super soft to seal? or theyre just cheap, always undersized too never a tight fitting wrench
Living where they heavily salt the roads if i couldnt get the nut off with heat and a line wrench ive had a lot of luck cutting the brake line your replacing close to the nut and hammering a socket on there to get a better bite
Well, Snap-on sells a similar extractor set, but they don't make it. That kit is a re-branded Ridgid Screw Extractors Set No.10. I have the Ridgid set, which can be purchased online. If you want the Snap-on set, you can purchase it online as well, at snap-on.com, or from a dealer. .
Broke off another bolt trying to get one of my 4Runner skid plates off, same thing happened last year. Will have to take it to the shop. Manufacturers sure know how to use weak soft metal garbage bolts. Head sheared right off. Being under the vehicle it's pretty impossible for me to extract. I tried the one last year, total fail. I'm going to have the shop fix it and take all the skid plates off. Then I'm going to get the rust off, repaint whatever needs it, and re-install them myself, THIS TIME WITH ANTI-SEIZE, since I'm pretty sure they didn't use any last year. I think they enjoy my truck breaking I swear.
