Full-time detailer here: I've been using Meg's gold class leather cleaner for years exclusively for leather and vinyl. For dirty seats, I spray it liberally and scrub with the softest drill brush and work it to a lather. I then wipe with a wet MF towel and the seats always come out like new. I've watched the price of the product increase needlessly over the past few years from $4.99 US to over $8 for no good reason other than corporate greed. I wish it was avail in 1 gallon size to make it a bit more economical.
@@carswithsonduren And you can't blame Meguiars directly. During covid, the price of 1 gal Gold Class car shampoo quadrupled for a while on Amazon so I wrote to Barry Meguiar and asked him why . I noted that Meguiars has always boasted about their products being made from ingredients sourced in the USA and if that was the case and there was no supply chain issues why were they gouging us on the price of their most popular product. I rcvd a reply from his son, CFO and VP of Meg's thanking me for my inquiry and informing me that they haven't raised the price on their products purposely at that time and that any price Increase is all being done by the distributor and Meg's has no control over what they sell the products for.
GREAT video - answered all my questions on the leather cleaning topic, plus a few I had not yet thought of. Many thanks. And yes, I subscribed. joeinbuenosaires 😎
I've used the Meguiar's before it things went OK. I was wondering what can be used afterwards to bring out that natural luster of the leather seats to make them shine and look like new?
Quick question, have you tried the swissvax leather cleaner and milk? I know Rolls Royce use it and I found it excellent. Just asking if you have an opinion with this in comparison. Thanks
Just had my first bad spill and I used chemical guys cleaner/conditioner now half the seat is a darker red . Is there a way I can get back to my original red or do I have to wipe the whole seat to make it match now
Hi. Great video. I personally like this product as well. Love how it smells without it being too strong. What do you recommend for a lotion to apply after this product? Thank you.
What cleans cologne stains out of a brown leather seat. I dropped a cologne bottle on my seat and I have a bad stain. I know cologne is alcohol based so what can clean that?
Holy shit, I bought that product 12 year ago. I did not open it. Might be expired but I will try it out on my old IS250 first to see if it's still good. I am using Chemical Guys leather cleaner and leather conditioner on my Prelude. For the 2023 RX, I use my Lexus leather cleaner.
There are lots of different disinfectants on the market. Honestly, I have no preference. They all do the same thing essentially without much difference.
@@carswithsonduren ok so would lysol wipes on your steering wheel be a bad idea, had my car valet at a resturant and driver was sick definitly want to clean taht after not just with a detailing product thank you!
@@carswithsonduren Ok, Ill try it. Thanks for the video. I have a NX 2025 350H, and my wife just sitting there wanted to see what the dash felt like, so she gave it a rub with her palm, and it left behind light white smear marks. I used my good lint free cloth, but no improvement. Ill give this a shot, I'm sure its the fact we rubbed it, and the residue from her hands and my cloth left a temporary film.
I just watched this, this my first year running my business, it’s going amazing. The only thing though is my eczema has literally brought me to tears. I got it situated now, but am afraid the summer will kill my skin again and bring pain … any quick tips you got for me? Btw just subbed, can’t believe I’m not the only detailer who has to deal with this
Great video. Question for you. I've also used Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Rich Cleaner & Conditioner for years on my leather car seats. In our Kia Sorrento, after using it on the steering wheel center, the Kia badge on the center developed some cracking. Have you experienced this product degrading plastics at all? When I'm working with a wet MF cloth, I usually wipe down the whole interior. Any concerns using this on screens, badges, plastic, or capacitive touch surfaces? Thanks again.
Hi, what lotion do you apply after this? Link please and thank you. Also, did you rust proof your Lexus? I have a 2023 rav4 limited hybrid and debating is I should have it rust proofed, also in Canada and winter last 6 months
Hey man! I use Mothers Leather Cream as a topper. I do not rust proof my new 2023 Lexus NX350h as it does have rust proofing from the factory but might consider it later in a few years.
@@carswithsonduren thanks for the very quick reply. Do you have a link for the Mothers lotion by any chance? You think it’s a good idea to not rust proof my 2023 rav4 hybrid?
I disagree, I have a truck 8 years old with some real top grain leather starting to show some wear. The Meguiar's Gold Class dried the leather out and took the shine away. It may work good on new looking leather but for older leather it looked worse after I applied it than it did beforehand. I came to RU-vid looking for a better product and laughed when this video suggested the product I had just tried and hated the result. I wanted something that would nourish and shine the leather. This faded the color, made it look dry and it was rough to the hands afterwards.
@@unkindguy88 No, I have a wallet 5 years old that is top grain leather with a nice patina and slight shine to it. Who wants a dull and dry feel to something they touch? Gross. My seats were soft subtle smooth with a slight shine. After applying the Meguiars shit they were rough to the touch and looked like dry leather that needed conditioner. I pick up some Jay Leno leather conditioner and the softness was restored.
Leather is not suppost to be shiny when applying professional cleaning products, shiny leather means dirty or oily because of skin grease and or contamination due to exterior conditions, many people don’t know that, but yes theres customers that expect their leather seats to be shiny and I tell them, but if customer wants shiny then I apply shiny to their vehicles.
I understand what you are trying to describe. Leather Care or Cleaner like Meguiars is exactly that. It's cleaner, and for beige or brown leather it can clean very well without damaging the leather, but it can leave it dry. You need to follow up with Meguiars Leather Conditioner which innthe same type bottle. I have had excellent results bringing back all types of neglected leather interiors and, in my opinion Meguiars Leather Conditioner is top notch. For perforated leather seats less is more. Apply sparingly with a microfiber sponge and if it's streaky, buff off the excess and apply another coat. The more time you take, the better the results. Good Luck and I hope that helps!
Swissvax is the best , let’s be honest. Your not going to use this on a Bentley or jaguar. Nobody wants sent on there leather . Plus I didn’t see any forte, conditioner/ leather or sealant ex. Yes, for your every day car or detail, it’s alright . It’s good enough for my Jeep I guess
That Swissvax looks like marketing to people with too much money or not enough sense. Somehow, my leather seats have managed to survive decades without it.
