I made this exact recipe years ago but added Mexican Coca Cola and oranges to the pork w lard. It was so delicious. I’m Puerto Rican and Mexican food is my favorite ❤
Dad is from Michoacan and he sells carnitas for party’s and events. His always comes out top tier. He uses slices of oranges instead of lemon or lime like you did. Orange is sweet and gives it a delicious taste at the end
@@juanv9693the video does say the best carnitas AT HOME. So if you're going to make this with limited cooking equipment. Then this is the best way to do so
You mean the pizza oven? Just use a cast iron skillet- that’s actually closer to traditional for tortillas. It’s a clear sponsorship as he even thanks the manufacturer.
Tip from a Mexican: Don’t put oil on your ingredients for the salsa, and if possible, char them in a grill or on a comal instead. You really want that charred roasted flavor
I like that charred roasted flavor in my salsa too, but a lot of authentic Mexican salsas are seared on the stove with oil, it still chars with the oil too
@@trinidad510 I guess it depends on which part of Mexico then. But none of my family has ever put oil anywhere near their salsa’s. The only time I ever do is when I’m making enchiladas. After roasting, I blend up all the ingredients and pour into a pot of hot canola oil and “fry” the salsa.
Agreed. I see a lot of non- mexicans do that. Also, corn tortillas not flour... and some chiles de arbol instead of jalapeños. Some coca-cola, some condensed milk and oranges in the pot of carnitas.
@@JoseMartinez-nm7ht nah that's a Mexican technique too, it's not a "non-Mexican" thing. There's so many ways to make authentic salsa because every area has it's own way of making them, that goes for carnitas as well, everyone does it differently
That "JESUS" at the end👌🤣🤣 my kids and I are laughin you talk straight whiteboy but ur heart is brown af for sure❤😂😂 you invited to all the sunday bbqs❤😂😂
@@julianebug8409There’s nothing wrong with the recipe at all. He’s just doing it that way this time bc he can. Multiple videos he shows ways of making your own tortillas in far easier methods. Not to mention there’s probably a thousand other vids showing the same. He’s shown you a great recipe for Carnitas and all you can do is complain.
For anyone to find it fun. The song being sung comes out in a movie called desperado, it came out in 1995. So the song and movie themselves are 29 years old. Great movie, btw.
desperado is just a big budget remake of 'el mariachi' by the same robert rodriguez. Grittier and barebones (shot for 7 thousand dollars), the original is imo better.
Yeah? No shit!!! Sorry, I just know too much about everything and just assume that everyone else does too...But then I realize that half the country voted for a f****** imbecile pedophile that loves to sniff children's hair and can't remember what room he's in half the time.. And did not only single-handedly ruin the country.. you know when you have to take out a mortgage just to buy groceries 😂😂😂 But is also working on ruining the world through a third world war😮 .... Never Voted for trump because.. I didn't think I needed to. I didn't think people would be dumb enough to seriously vote for hillary in masses..let alone for pedophile biden😂😂😂 Anyway yeah, Desperado is a good movie👍 Also, I don't mean to be political. I don't really care! I'm not voting in November...The world could use a good cleansing. Bring on a 3rd one 😂😂😂
@@gruby970Really? It's a remake of El mariachi? Yeah, no fucking shit!!!! 😂😂😂People act like other people don't know shit and live under rocks!!! 🤦🤦♀️🤦🤦♂️ Please tell us something we don't know already😂😂😂
In my city most people use flour tortillas for tacos de carne asada and most tacos. It's not rare they serve in corn tortillas but it's not the default unless you ask for them. Tacos de Carnitas and Borrego for sure are a most with corn tortillas@@spiritsbryan2377
Josh I made that green salsa blend that you made, except I also toasted the garlic. It was the best green salsa I’ve ever had. Thanks for by reminder to char the veg! Amazing!
@@DarkClassicGamer~ no you do not. It goes in the pot as you’re cooking your pork. Check out Steph on VIEWS ON THE ROAD. I’m sure she has a great recipe for carnitas on her channel. Several probably. I can’t recommend her enough.
There was a guy here in the comments that started moaning about this recipe being basic because his is much better, but he wouldn't share 😂😂😂 You're sharing your and you're being respectful ❤
@@DarkClassicGamer ~ If you live in a city with a Mexican market you can purchase lard there. It’s much better than the bricks you get where the shortening is sold. Some people were saying in the comments that you can use oil but, it’s just not the same. Hope this helps.
Omg I just finished making carnitas when you posted this. I used oranges, limes, and Mexican Coca Cola in mine (along w all the spices & onions & stuff) instead of lard though but they were amazing, little hint of sweetness
Is that how you usually make carnitas? I want to make some for my Mexican friends/family. It will be mt first time but I don't like the idea of lard since pork is already fatty. Someone else said condenses milk. What ratios do you do?
Needs oranges instead of limes, MX oregano, and if you find your way to a Spanish Mercado, they usually have freshly rendered pork fat you could use to fry the pork with.
That's a good recipe. Thank you. I'm glad I'm mexcian and I just need to go some steps to get carnitas. I wish everyone could taste Michoacan's carnitas, but as they can't, you get everyone closer to tasting them.
not original recipie, im fom mexico and this is needs many more ingridients and explanation ,also the singer is singing a mexican song bit the singer is from spain.
This looks great! I braise in chicken stock and use orange, lime, one quartered onion, garlic, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, Mx oregano, and some ancho chile. Courtesy Rick Martinez, one of the only recipes I have memorized!
Yesss!! Thank you for not adding chesse!! Idk why American always want to do chesse with all Mexican dishes. Your carnitas and salsa verde are on point and look amazing 👏
i remember the first time i had my first home made taco it was with a friend and his family they came from Spain when he was a kid and i went over for a few parties he and his family held and almost always they served fresh hot tacos, and they were the best spice but not to spicy with the freshest ingredients
My family from tepa cook it completely different. This is what we call pulled pork. Carnitas in my family is always. Crunchy fried delicious pork. Personally just wondering what part of Mexico this comes from because I've always known this to be the tex mex way.
At least here in Baja California, we do make carnitas like that. The way you described it as crunchy and fried makes me think of chicharrón rather than carnitas which is still fucking delicious ofc, but when I think of carnitas, it is pulled pork cooked with lard and served with white onion, cilantro and red or green salsa. Also red rice and guacamole. And we actually use corn tortilla for tacos unlike Papa here who used tortilla de harina which we usally use for burritos or quesadillas only
@@nova1153and see, when you use the word “quesadilla” I think of the sweet/salty bread made with cuajada, crema, rice flour and a few other ingredients. ☺️
@@ymxb_dc good stuff, thank you. Always thought it to be a Californian way of making them or something. Figured they learned pulled pork from somewhere.
Not sure for this one specifically, but you can check the internet for a recipe. It's a very common dish here in Mexico. I warn you there's a lot of variations, so just choose one that you like and don't worry about how "pure" or "original" they claim to be; everyone does it differently
Oh, I forgot. For the tortillas you can use a flat frying pan and just flip them as if they were pancakes when they rise if you don't have an oven for it. It's closer to the traditional way that uses a "comal"
Take your pick. Almost the whole animal is used in carnitas.....also add a big sip of soda for caramelization (not so secret ingredient), preferably Coke or orange soda
It may actually have influenced us. I know that the region where I live in Mexico has received a lot of polonians, Romanian, etc. for centuries and that an hour or so from my city a lot of french established a couple of centuries back.😊
No es la manera tradicional, pero definitivamente es mucho mejor que la mayoría de recetas de comida mexicana hechas por estadounidenses Se ve deliciosa, felicidades ❤
He has an old one, but it's definitely an old one because of the kitchen/lighting, production. Nothing wrong necessarily but I'm hoping for a new and improved one based on this.
