A lot of these small point and shoots are pretty good. As long as you go with a better name they'll usually do alright. I wouldn't worry about pumping the price on this one. There are many other cameras out there for people to get in the point and shoot. What's important is getting people excited to shoot. Seeing you stoked on a camera helps that. Love the work man.
Dl300 is actually far more superior to dl200, which i had for a short time. Dl200 doesn't have the ability to turn off flash manually, which will end up giving most of your photos that distinct 'cheap point and shoot' look. Also, it has few versions with different battery types not intended to manual replacement. Nothing really hard, just unnecessary messing with wires and poorly soldered contacts. So yeah, DL300 is a way to go. Reject overhyped mju II, embrace fuji swag
Can’t go wrong with point and shoot cameras especially Nikon and Olympus. It’s a shame that film and point and shoot cameras are so expensive due to Instagram and unneeded hype. All the best with your channel in 2022.
I own the zoom version of this camera the DL-270. The lens is a 35-70mm f2 and I bought it from someone in Canada for $29 USD. The camera was barely used and looked brand new. I popped in a battery and roll of film and it works like a champ. I'd never buy a Contax T2 when there are point-and-shoot film cameras out there like this Fujifilm line of cameras. Keep finding those good deals.
Definitely a great camera. Love both contax T2 and FUJI DL300. I really enjoy fill flas feature as well. The slide door does feel weird, I feel like it doesn’t turn off the camera like it does on Mju’s. Maybe just turns off meter and shutter
Hello. Good info on Fuji. Quick question I feel like the Fuji cardia hite date is similar to the Fuji 300 dl. Their is a major price difference. It appears that they both use the same lens. I'd like to hear your feedback. Thanks
Such a great video Chris! Nothing but vibes and great content! Stoked you shared such a cheap and awesome camera! Also the music in the background of this vid was giving me real mid west emo vibes, nothing but love for that!
I think the Contax T2 was made by Yashica. I use a Olympus Af1 Infinity with the super sharp 35mm 2.8 lens. I bought mine for £15. Weatherproof and tough. Can't turn the flash off but you get some unusual pictures.
It has a version where flash is manual. The AF-1 super. Prices of those units are also slowly going up, after they found out that the Olympus MJU ii is “derived” from it
When it comes to cheap alternatives to the Contax T2, I'm simply going to say: "Kodak SL1100 XL". As point & shoots go, it has a lot going for it. - including the video by ChrisBPhoto.
Bought a Dl-300 a while back but had some spacing issues, some of my photos were overlapped. I got it for cheap and the camera was untested so that was my bad. It's always a gamble with 30 plus year old electronics. I bought my self the Cardia Hite version and it works fine for me. If the camera works properly, it's an excellent camera.
Ugh, I’ve tried that IKEA coffee, it’s miserable. I’ll have to tune in for this one 💀 My mindset about the hype issue is that the more we spread out the hype, the better. More evenly distributed hype means (in a sense) more supply and therefore more normalized prices. Hopefully.
I'm honestly pretty shocked that someone hasn't bought the rights to the T2 or T3. I bet if a company were to build them in limited production they could easily sell out of them each time. Come to think of it, why doesn't anyone build a digital version either?
I think a digital version would have an even smaller market. Our phones are basically point n shoots. T2s, T3s, and other great pns cameras excel in the film world. But in digital, they would need to compete with smartphones and smaller mirrorless cameras like the ones from fuji or canon or ricoh etc. Also, many of these small mirrorless cameras have interchangeable lenses. I think smartphones killed digital pns cameras.
Picked one of these up after the last video where you mentioned it. The AF is soooo so bad on mine (missing focus at least 50% of the time, been when subject is at infinity). Doesn't look like that is the case with yours, can you talk a little more about the AF? I'm assuming this just my unit but am curious if anyone else has a similar experience.
Ah sorry to hear. Mine seems to focus well, I usually give it a second to get focus then take the photo. Not because I think it’s slow but just in case I guess. The focus sensor is in the center of the frame so as long as you focus to the center you should be good. Maybe yours is malfunctioning
@@ThePhotoDept Yea probably malfunctioning. I might come back around to getting another copy a trying it out "for real". I really like the drop in loading !
Unfortunately I don't think any point and shoot will come close to that Zeiss lens on the T cameras. Its a shame that they've been lost to the cult of celebrities and influencers and the prices are crazy
I think the XA lens is really special and has its own character goin on. The lens on the Fuji is really sharp and renders colors accurately, seems a little cleaner at first. Definitely different flavors.
I'm not familiar with the Fuji. The XA was objectively tested and evaluated long before it was jumped up into stardom by never ending YT hype. In summary, the last test I read of the XA, including resolution (attempted ) tests, was that the test photos could not be identified as a test target, much less read a resolution, The XA has the worst lens performance of any camera made in the last 60 years, including the crap made by the Chinese or sold by Lomo. But it has a 6 element lens made by Oly? Sure does. Oly wanted a lens which would fit into the thin XA body and not require a mechanism to pop it out to use. The lens they designed was made to be thin, not good. It's a terrible lens. Oly never used it again, including any if the other XA models. It had a unique design, which no other manufacturer ever copied. Apart from poor resolution, it has substantial vignetting, and its spherical aberration is so great the you can clearly see it, even when scanned and put on a computer monitor. Frankly, the XA is just a waste of film, and at today's film prices.....
sounds like you were personally victimized by an XA. i can tell you that a lot of people love the XA for the photos it produces. I find that most of the best photographers i know are too busy making good work to worry about the theoretical resolution of the lenses in their cameras. maybe you should take that approach.
I had it and it sucks that I was late to know that the lens isn’t working well. Changed mine to its counterpart - Ricoh FF-70 with f/2.8 rikenon 5/5 lens
Yeah man have you ever done something you hate to achieve a goal because you realized maybe hating that one thing might be an overreaction based on your own insecurities and fear of how you are perceived, worrying that if you cave to the expectations of your viewers that you would be seen by your contemporaries as “unserious” or an “influencer” rather than a creative just trying to cling to any form or relevancy that’s possible in this “content farm” hellscape we call social media? Yeah same.
