By eliminating Gluten, Soy, and Dairy a couple of years ago, I was able to completely heal myself. After 14 years of being on Synthyroid, a simple change of diet solved it all.

@@welshlady212000 i did not have your same experience. I felt the best I had ever felt because I made sure to only eat whole natural foods and not use toxic replacements or fillers. Drinking water and herbal teas instead of soda or juice, eating organic fruits and veggies, growing as much of my own food that I can, eating free range grass fed grass finished local meats, wild caught fish etc… don’t expect to heal if your dumping toxic waste into your system- Eat clean… really clean and try to avoid anything that’s not naturally occurring on Earth.
@dionabahr6113
@dionabahr6113 Год назад
@@gracebaughan It’s a long and slow process but I spent about year (9-12months) cleaning up my diet and making sure to really reset my system before weaning off the medication. It took another 6-9 months to healthily wean off the medication. Be patient with yourself during the process, listen to your body and see how it responds to the changes. It’s better to go slowly and make it a total lifestyle change than to go too quickly and throw your body into shock.

I cut out sugar 3 months ago - no cookies, cakes, chocolate, crisps, high sugar 'healthy' granola bars, processed food etc...and my muscle inflammation is down. I am no longer pre diabetic. My mood is more stable. . Found I still need to eat carbs like some rice to help with energy tho. Not enough carbs made me feel like my chronic sick body was under a lot of stress - stress you just do not need and cannot handle. I went thru heaps of mental stress over all these diets - Keto etc...Not worth it. Mindset. U r a human being - u can eat food and not get sick. Just eat healthy as you can to start with. Cut our processed foods to start maybe and do not panic. give yourself lots of time and be kind to yourself as you figure it all out. I am still figuring it out.

I've been on a carnivore (less than 10g of carbs per day and minimal dairy) diet for the past 6 months, and I no longer have pain and stiffness in my joints, my knee arthritis has improved, my brain fog is gone, I have more energy, my skin has improved, my LDL cholesterol has gone down 50 points and is now below 200 (first time in 20 years), my HDL has improved, and my triglycerides are normal and the lowest they've ever been. My IBS is 99% better, my BP is normal, and I am sleeping much, much better. My FT3 and FT4 are now normal after years of struggling. I am eating the way our ancestors ate for thousands of years up until about 100 years ago. I am no longer addicted to sugar.

October ‘21, my mind shifted. It has been a very slow process but… I now only eat foods that don’t come in a package. Eat and grow what I can. Doing everything I can to increase what I grow. I’ve lost 76 pounds. With another 20 to go. Everyday seems a marked improvement. It seems 2 steps forward, 1 step back. But a slow steady procession forward. The freeing of the addiction to sugar and carbs has been the most liberating experience. I drink only water, herbal teas and 1 cup of coffee a day. I can’t seem to give that 1 cup up. Granite, I haven’t tried 😊. It’s sad that I’ve been living with this disease for 20 years and only now am I finding any form of relief. It’s a sad thing our medical leaders don’t do anything to truly help us.

I am a 37 female living in France and diagnose with Hashimoto, Lipedema and Leaky gut. I am now gluten free, I limit lactose and sugar. I don't eat soy. I would say that Dr.Westin is right when he says that it's a global lifestyle change. Your diet has to be central timewise and energywise. You will have to learn how to cook for sure and organising your meals around vegetables, fruit and organic proteins. It probably means that YOU will do groceries AND the cooking. You will need a new family organisation to support that throughout life. I struggled for years to have a balance diet as food was a burden and a lost of time. I switch my mind and that's for the best. I understood that it's a lot of changes to accept, I fought for years to avoid this. The truth is food is central, you can ignore that but at some point your body is gonna say STOP. Damages on your body are sometimes final. I hope you will find the faith to change and finally it's all about selflove ! Love yourself and live your best life

I did AIP for several months. I did improve, for example, I went to half my original dose of synthroid, and many years later I am still on that dosage. But I can no longer eat anything in the pea family. My interpretation of this result is that once my body experienced the cleanse and reset, it noticed the pea issue now because it wasn't in toxic overload anymore. Grains are cross reactive with gluten as is dairy. I was on AIP in 2016, 2017 when I lost about 35 pounds. Unfortunately I ate too many carbs that convert to sugar. Sugar is inflammatory whether it's from honey that's bee vomit or maple syrup. I tried carnivore and with the oxylate dumping I added minimal plant foods. Plant foods with a few exceptions make me bloat. I take Thyrogold for my thyroid supplement vs Rx that made me very sick and on the journey of healing with diet, lifestyle changes. Dr. Westin Childs, I think vitamin A in spinach really helps and periodically fasting helps too. I now think it has a lot to do with Leaky Gut now. Vitamin A and fasting helps heal Leaky Gut and the TPO antibodies go down. On this one lady's comment said that she was sick for a week and she couldn't eat. On her appointment with her doctor, they already had it set up to do her lab test for her TPO antibodies and hers had gone way down from not being able to eat. He told her to fast for another five days in six months and come back to do another test. She did and her TPO antibodies were gone. She said that it had been three years later and it was still gone. She didn't mention changing her diet. I think by fasting a long period of time and only drinking water helped heal her Hashimoto's. I had been doing the OMAD diet which was eating every 24 hours basically and I saw the numbers of the TPO antibodies go down. I only did OMAD diet for a few days but it made a difference. One other time, I went on a spinach only diet for 11 days and then did a 14 day fruit only diet. My TPO antibodies went down for an entire year. I just cut out dairy. I have been testing and tracking what I have done and to see what happens when I try different things.

My functional medicine doctor recommended goat and sheep milk, and my dairy allergy was literally off the chart. Since then I learned that there are cow breeds, like Jersey cows, that produce milk with a similar protein to goat and sheep milk. Was recently in Holland and they sell this as "A2" milk, marketed as suitable for the lactose-intolerant. Worth looking into. As I understand it, It's a question of the proteins and avoiding casein (which if I recall correctly is "A1" protein).

I'm trying to go glutin free. How good are glutin free products, like glutin free toaster waffles? I've had thyroid issues for over 50 years & never was told I could control it with diet. I had my first ever TPO test 3 yrs ago & told I had Hashimotos. I've been off sugar for a while now. Not sure about leaky gut, what are the symptoms? I love cheese & a splash of milk in my tea or coffee & on my oatmeal. I use lactose free milk. I'm 77yrs old & making changes in my diet has not been easy. I don't have a full kitchen, just a kitchenette. I've been gluten-free since January. My thyroid dose has gone down but I feel lousy. I've never had a problem with constipation until this diet. I watch a lot of advice from nutritionists & holistic doctors & some info is contradictory. I only eat twice a day most days. I miss the convenience of making a sandwich. I miss toast or a bagel for breakfast or a bran muffin. I hate all of this. Retirement was supposed to be care free.😢

I had blood work done the other day, tsh was 3.6 and everything is normal they say but mood swings and acid reflux still persist. I'm going to switch to Armour and start the aip diet with a dietician's help because I can't afford a naruopath or functional doctor. My question is do I have to stay on the aip diet indefinitely? Most people suggest that after many months, if you feel so inclined, you can try to slowly introduce small amounts of just ONE food, and give it a month or so to see if you notice any issues. Then still wait a while before trying another food, and repeat the process. That's how you can know for sure if you're reacting to that one food.

But it's my choice....I feel like I need it. My TPO are fairly low, 76. But sure...I wonder if they would go down even further if completely dairy free. I just haven't been able to yet though...And I feel like the dairy helps to bind to oxalates which is a really big issue of mine. I don't know...maybe I'll try a 3 month period but I'm not looking forward to it!😅 You can use coconut products instead but coconut yoghurt is 4 times as expensive, atleast where I live. Many gluten free foods are higher in carbs than are good for me. I really like yogurt and most cheeses although I have reduced the amounts I eat. Because my blood pressure is all over the place, ranging from normal to elevated to high, I have been told to follow the DASH Diet. I have eliminated most processed food from my diet. You could research this--- or perhaps the Doc has some ideas on this--- but, while researching info for someone regarding Hashimotos, I was told that goats milk and yogurt are less challenging, and more digestible. Plus someone mentioned that milk from brown cows is different, and much easier to digest and less challenging, than that from other breeds like Holsteins...because of some elements of it's makeup. Don't know, but you could research this online. Also, I have seen both organic whole milk and whole milk yogurt that advertises it is A2 (A1 free) from a dairy in California. Don't know if this helps to reduce dairy reactions....Probably other dairies in other parts of the country also produce such. I have had the yogurt and it was delicious and seemed more digestible, though that's just my opinion. But wanted to try it out before recommending to my friend and I wish I had some article comparing various types of milks and yogurts for people with Hasimotos. It is organic and not homogenized. I have wondered if some of the problems with milk in general, and even some cow's yogurts, are also because the milk is from stressed, nonpastured cows fed a lot of grains and not raised organically. Anyways, hope this is helpful and that there is some healthy way to still incorporate milk or yogurt or kefir.
